To want a big fat pat on the back because I have actually quit smoking.

I am very very proud of myself, I've been working up to this for a while knowing once I managed the 48 hours I would not go back.

Here I am having done the 48 hours.

Just checking you're still going strong. Keep it up....

LizaTarbucksNonSmokingAuntie · 19/09/2011 10:29

Thank you - certainly am thnks, am currently uploading wedding pictures onto my twitter account instead of doing actual work...though am pretending it's actual work as it's my work twitter account.

GodKeepsGiving · 19/09/2011 10:51

Well done! I have just finished my last packet and I am not going to buy any more. Wish me luck .......

LizaTarbucksNonSmokingAuntie · 19/09/2011 10:56

lots of luck GKG stick with it, it gets easier with every one you don't smoke

I am very happy to hear from lots of other people quitting - definately helping me :)

Scholes34 · 19/09/2011 11:01

The very biggest of pats on the back to you, and everyone else succeeding in this.

LizaTarbucksNonSmokingAuntie · 19/09/2011 11:06

thank you!

northernrock · 19/09/2011 12:30

Well done Liza. I chose September 21 as my date to quit a while ago..and now it's looming large!
Tommorrow will be my last day as a smoker which is making me want to chain it right now!
Bit worried that I might be really horrible to ds and not be able to deal with whinging-it's the whinging that triggers the craving for a fag!

LizaTarbucksNonSmokingAuntie · 19/09/2011 12:56

You'll be just fine, don't worry about it in advance, just do it step by step whe you get there..

I must admit I'm eating a lot of raw carrots and haribo, but I figure that's going to do me less damage in the short term!

Good luck

Amazing, well done! I can honestly say its the hardest thing I have ever done, you should be very proud of yourself.

norriscoleforpm · 19/09/2011 13:16

I am on Day 3 now. Am at work which is always always where I usually crack and I haven'tGrin. Much easier to give up at home with sad tearful little faces looking at me saying 'you promised, you really promised,' when they find me hiding behind the shed (again)... Sad. Anyway, this is going to be the one. Can't afford it, Can't let the kids down (again) and actually quite like being able to cycle for more than three yards without gobbing Grin

LizaTarbucksNonSmokingAuntie · 19/09/2011 13:17

Thank you, I am, and happy to keep bumping this thread for anyone who like me thinks they can't possibly not be a smoker.

lollilou · 19/09/2011 13:25

Yay for this thread it's really helping. Does anyone have any info on whether people gain much weight after stopping? That was one of my feeble excuses to keep puffing.

norriscoleforpm · 19/09/2011 13:30

Well apparently, you would have to gain 5 stone to equal the ill effects of smoking, I read somewhere. I have never (in any of my feeble attempts - ranging from three years to three days Grin) put on more than about 6 pounds but I've always made an effort to exercise more. Hth!

LizaTarbucksNonSmokingAuntie · 19/09/2011 14:03

norris keep it up - littlemad is using my excuse for not stopping 'well I am trying but it's very hard' as an excuse for bad behaviour...so that had to be kicked to the kerb!

Lolli - carrots and haribou...a winning combination

LizaTarbucksNonSmokingAuntie · 19/09/2011 15:53

youarekidding - I'm here for the 4pm challenge, I've just got home from work and the schoolrun with littlemad...

CoteDAzur · 19/09/2011 17:43

YANBU! Well done!

I second the carrot sticks - great to occupy hands and mouth, with minimal calories. Also stock up on Tic Tacs.

Avoid coffee and alcohol for a while.

Most importantly, Don't Ever Have Another Smoke. Not once. Not ever.

Tortington · 19/09/2011 18:17
