I looked at the Dad.

I looked at his little chubby toddler daughter in her pink Ramones t shirt.

I thought "God you are a twat"

AIBU?

here you go Succubi

LaBag · 16/09/2011 09:02

Nobbynoob that is so rude. You sound like you have some issues to deal with.

BedHog · 16/09/2011 09:06

Most children show some musical preference by the age of 3 though. Maybe the family play the Ramones a lot and the girl likes them so they got her a t-shirt.

My DS likes the Partridge Family, who are before my time, let alone his Blush although I suspect a tiny t-shirt sporting a young David Cassidy's gurning mug might not have the same 'cool' factor as the Ramones, Stones, Smiths etc.

ApocalypseCheeseToastie · 16/09/2011 09:14

The boy has a collection of slayer t shirts, in fact they're all he'd wear if we'd let him. He 's also a huge slayer fan.

He first communicated via metallica (he has severe autism) he would lie for hours tapping a brick on the floor, hebwas like an empty shell. One day when he was around 18 months I walked into the room and realised he was tapping his brick in time to the song that was on. It really openef the gateway to communication, and he loved the band, probably for the heavy base.

YANBU tho, the RAMONES are shte Wink

JjandtheBeanlovesUnicorns · 16/09/2011 09:15

We are epic twats then, both kids have skinny jeans and converse.

Far more practical for playing children than dresses and cords. Some people really have nothing better to do than be judgey

michelleseashell · 16/09/2011 09:16

Jeez Louise, my baby has a Ramones tshirt. What, you want me to get him a tshirt printed out that says, 'THERE'S NOTHING LIKE A GOOD SHIT BEFORE BED'. Cos that's what he likes. Is that what you want? Is it?? I'll do it! Don't think I won't do it!

LDNmummy · 16/09/2011 09:18

It is pretentious IMO.

YANBU.

Pagwatch · 16/09/2011 09:18

Hahahahahahaha at 'there's nothing lime a good shit before bed'

Grin
BakeliteBelle · 16/09/2011 09:18

Most kids have these sort of items of clothing where I live. That's a lot of twats.
The skinny jeans are a bit crap though - saw some on a toddler and wondered how the hell he would ever be toilet trained or learn to get them on and off.

ApocalypseCheeseToastie · 16/09/2011 09:18

OMFG, That's bloody tre, thete really is nothing like a good shit before bed.

In fact that SHOULD be on a tshirt. I'd buy it !

acatcalledfelix · 16/09/2011 09:18

H&M sell them, I bought a Ramones and a Stones Tshirt for a friends twins, thought it made a nice change to "I'm mummy's little monster" or bloody Thomas the sodding Tank Engine.
DS has a couple of Beatles tee shirts from there too, because I like them, and the tee shirts. He doesn't care what he wears, he's not even two yet!

Why are these tee shirts any more pretentious than those from shops where £15-20 is a normal amount to spend on a tee shirt? I know where I'd rather spend my money!

Hullygully · 16/09/2011 09:19

Goodness

Are there any babies who don't have a Ramones t-shirt then?

charl2503 · 16/09/2011 09:19

Both my babies (3m and 18m) have ramones tshirts. And my daughters is pink. Flame me Blush

Ciske · 16/09/2011 09:22

DD (2) has a Ramones shirt, and a Jimi Hendrix one. IMO it beats the 'I'm a little princess' crap.

dinkystinky · 16/09/2011 09:23

My sister bought DS1 a Clash - London Calling tshirt when he was 1. He looked v cool in it and so was happy to put him in it. Maybe it was the same for Ramones t-shirt dad. I reserve my judgement for dad's who put their kids in top-gear t-shirts - what's with that???

Agree with Hully that rudeness is uncalled for

cornflowers · 16/09/2011 09:24

My toddler has a velvet underground & nico banana Tshirt. A friend in Australia sent it over. I think it looks cute.

WhoseGotMyEyebrows · 16/09/2011 09:24

Why would you think someone was a twat for putting their child in a Ramones T-shirt? I don't get it, I really don't. Makes me think YOU are a twat though.

IwoulddoPachacuti · 16/09/2011 09:25

YABU

My ds 6 has a Ramones t-shirt and THe Who as well. He loves bands like that as I play them in the car all the time.

I'd much rather that than Jistin Bieber or something!

Maybe I am a twat though Grin

pictish · 16/09/2011 09:28

I couldn't give a monkeys what other people dress their kids in.

Saw this one recently!

NorfolkBroad · 16/09/2011 09:30

I do know what you mean! I also find that annoying. On a slightly different note, some years ago when I was at my NCT group one of the husbands wore a T shirt that said on it "I don't do mingers"!!!!!!!!!!!! I thought that was pretty vile!

MerylStrop · 16/09/2011 09:30

We were given an age 1-2 yellow Ramones t-shirt in a bundle of hand me downs. All three of mine have worn it. It's a really nice colour and the graphic is nice.

I would say YANBU only if the daughter was also wearing skinny jeans and converse and was prevented from having any normal fun because of what she was wearing.

zonkin · 16/09/2011 09:33

YABU.

Succubi · 16/09/2011 09:33

Thanks for the link Lady. Love the t-shirt love the album.

wigglesrock · 16/09/2011 09:37

I see your point, I can't get overly excited about it, but I see what you're saying. I do think there's a difference between Peppa, Disney etc, in that the child has probably chosen the Peppa/dinosaur stuff, but a toddler is hardly going to be listening to the Ramones on the recommendation of parent and toddler friends.

I also think there is absolutely no difference in putting your child in a Ramones/Beatles top and a Justin Bieber top, except maybe the child has actually heard of Justin Bieber.

ShowMeTheMonet · 16/09/2011 09:38

YABU my youngest has a Kiss Tshirt, my eldest has a Stones tongue zipper top. It's what we listen to in the car, ergo they are known to them.

And it's so much better than pukey pink and lorries/diggers bollocks.
