I looked at the Dad.

I looked at his little chubby toddler daughter in her pink Ramones t shirt.

I thought "God you are a twat"

Good point well made Hully Grin

Jins · 16/09/2011 17:07

Oi Huls. I bet you said something similar upthread. Can't be bothered to look though

It's clearly degenerated into a style discussion of which I know nothing. But I love the Ramones and mourned Johnny yesterday

gabba gabba hey

Knackeredmother · 16/09/2011 17:08

My children had The Jam and Specials baby grows. Can't see what's wrong with that? It's just a bit of fun. Surely all our children's clothing that we buy reflects our own tastes?

Oh Boy!

SOOOO pleased my boy has his hair parted on the side and wears hand knitted cardigans made by my mum.

OR is that so freakn uber cool its off da scalez????

LeBOF · 16/09/2011 17:12

It fucking is, yes. I'm reserving you a spot in Unhappy Hipsters.

AnyoneButLulu · 16/09/2011 17:14

Actually there is an entire generation of children growing up to love Blitzkrieg Bop because it's one of the first songs you play on Lego Rock Band.

lickthemarmiteknife · 16/09/2011 17:14

ouch

michelleseashell · 16/09/2011 17:16

My mum has spectacularly bad taste in clothes. She once knitted me a rainbow polo shirt.

Nobody looked at her like she was a twat. People looked at me and I saw them thinking, 'I don't care if that girl is five, she looks like a dick.'

I tell you all, my son isn't going to be loser rainbow jumper man!

lickthemarmiteknife · 16/09/2011 17:21

in next seasons vertbaudet catalogue there's a rainbow knitted polo shirt

michelleseashell · 16/09/2011 17:24

Noooooooooo Vertbadtwat!!

jeckadeck · 16/09/2011 17:27

YABU: they're such common currency now that its a bit like judging someone for having a babygro or wearing trainers. I plead guilty as my dd has no fewer than three ACDC ones. I think if the dad had gone out of his way to order one from the Ramones fan club or something it would be a bit twattish but you can buy them in H&M and so forth.

I went to college with Steve Lamacq Ladyclarice.

For the first term he wore clothes his mum chose for him - tweed jacket, checked Man from Millett's-style shirt and trousers, not jeans.

For the second term he reinvented himself in a donkey jacket, t-shirt, jeans and a haircut that I guess never matched up to the image in his own head. He also started smoking roll-ups.

He'd spent the xmas holiday practising speaking one or two octaves lower.

Genuinely nice bloke. But it was kind of funny. We called him Steve LaDonkeyJacket. He treated us with the contempt we deserved Grin

lickthemarmiteknife · 16/09/2011 17:30

oh dear god don't lets go near the topic of babies/toddlers in trainers or any sort of sportswear [grimace]

limitedperiodonly · 16/09/2011 17:30

Oh, and always a tie in his first term.

Jins · 16/09/2011 17:57

God I loved my donkey jacket

TheBolter

"My DD dresses herself and for a 5yo does a really good job. She picks unusual things to put together but they work! Freaks me out a bit. She seems to have a natural sense of style in a slightly alternative way!"

I'm going to back you up on this one blinkineck - my dd is just the same. She has a natural tomboy, slightly alternative style. She's happiest in skinny jeans, military style jackets, and usually a sword or pirate's hook thrown in for good measure...

That was me rather than blinkineck . . . not that it matters.

I love watching the weird outfits my dd puts together. Mine is obssessed by tights, usually draws designs onto them to make them unique! weird little girl Grin

Talker2010 · 16/09/2011 21:13

Totally Unreasonable

nodrog · 16/09/2011 21:13

DD informed me the other week she had found a really cool old band, called ... The Ram Ones. Dp cried.

MissBetsyTrotwood · 16/09/2011 21:15

DS1 has a knitted Ghostbusters jumper, which he loves. He also has a penchant for painting his nails.

Am I a twat? I mean, I am a twat but does this make me more of one? Grin

MissBetsyTrotwood · 16/09/2011 21:16

Oh, and he's 4.

backwardpossom · 16/09/2011 21:18

DS (2) has a Pearl Jam tshirt. He also had a Rolling Stones and a AC/DC babygro when he was younger.

I don't care if that makes me a twat. He looks ace. So there. Wine

iscream · 17/09/2011 09:04

Better a Ramonest-shirt than Barbi.
Besides, he may be older and fat, bit he may also still be a Ramones fan, as may be the girl. Brats on the Beat: Ramones for Kids .
