I just had a moment of doubt.
I was updating my tea menu, and it occured to me that I don't really know anyone else who does this.

Are there others out there who keep a list of what teas or coffees you have on hand to offer your guests?

NB not 35 months pregnant. Just feels like it. 35 weeks.

PoppyAmex · 02/08/2013 14:58

I'm heavily pregnant, super grumpy and have found MN really depressing/aggravating lately (to match my mood), but this just made me smile loads.

It's a lovely OP, a lovely thread and attracted lovely people.

Thanks for resurrecting it OhDearNigel Smile

Is it a laminated menu or is it hand written on nice card OR WHAT? Pictures of menu are needed I think.

Goody please tell me you are moving to Australia!

I was having a crap day, have been up and down with crying baby since 230am and dh just accused me of being Blamey because I asked why he didn't tell me that the toddler had decorated the table with potato soup. However now that I am going to make a tea menu for my tea drawer I feel much more cheerful about the rest of the day.

Loobylou123 · 03/08/2013 20:33

Sounds great! Bet you serve up awesome biscuits too - I thought I made an effort when I used an actual teapot or coffee pot!

OhDearNigel · 03/08/2013 21:25

My tea drawer has:

2 teapots and my coffee machine kit
A highly exotic and extravagent hot chocolate from Spain
PG tips - loose and bagged
Those belgian toffee waffle things you get in cafes and warm over cup
Various syrups
Amber sugar crystals
Claridges tea
Laduree special blend tea (£14 a tiny pack, DH's valentine treat)
Twinings Rose Garden
Twinings Diamond Jubilee tea caddy (sadly filled with bog standard PG tips)
Blackcurrant, Gingseng and Vanilla
Authentic powdered matcha brought back from Japan (complete with whisk, wooden spatula, tea bowls etc)
Assam
Ceylon
Morrocan Mint
Black tea with jasmine flowers
Vanilla and Coconut
Darjeeling
Ceylon
Lapsang
Earl and Lady Grey

OhDearNigel · 03/08/2013 21:29

What I am really hankering after now is a uniform set of small jam jars so that I can decant them all and have them beautifully labelled like the Hungarian tea house that was opposite our old house (how I miss you)

Rollermum, maybe you should invest in some raspberry leaf tea to shift that 35 month old Wink

OhDearNigel · 03/08/2013 21:34

if you're ever in eastbourne tea fanciers....

YoniRanger · 03/08/2013 21:40

I think I love this thread. Grin

SoldAtAuction · 03/08/2013 22:35

O.D.Nigel, that sounds wonderful!

SoldAtAuction · 03/08/2013 22:37

sadly, my tea menus are still on lined paper, it is a pain, but my printer shit the bed, so everything is by hand, although it is easy to update that way

londone17 · 03/08/2013 23:28

What a lovely idea.

lisianthus · 03/08/2013 23:51

Thank you so much for resurrecting this thread! My goodness, that peach pie recipe ...

WednesdayNext · 04/08/2013 00:05

I need a tea menu!!!

Iaintdunnuffink · 04/08/2013 00:10

Green tea with mango an chilli? I am coming to visit.

We do have expresso coffee, has to be Illy. In summer I can make a pot of fresh mint tea. Otherwise it's an offer of tea or coffee, leaded, or decaf. Mint tea bags.

Ms23 · 04/08/2013 00:33

Can I come round for tea?! This might not be the norm but definitely wouldn't be unwelcome!! Although prepare for the inevitable 'crazy tea lady' nickname.

therumoursaretrue · 04/08/2013 00:33

This is the best thing I've seen all day!

I don't have a menu, but you've inspired me as we have a lot of tea and coffee varieties in the cupboard. Not as many as you but about 9 teas, 4 coffees and a couple of hot chocolates.

SlightlyItchyBraStrap · 04/08/2013 06:33

For those of you with tea drawers (looks at ohdearnigel) how do you stop all the stuff from sliding around?

tootiredtothink · 04/08/2013 09:21

sold. I want, no, desperately neeeeeed a household ledger. What do you use? I imagine myself passing it down to my dcs when I'm 101 Grin.

I feel I need more than just an a4 refil pad!

catgirl1976 · 04/08/2013 09:24

Please could I have your life goody

You sound amazing. I spend my days frantically trying to find tights that are not laddered and trying not to run out of milk.

SoldAtAuction · 04/08/2013 15:38

TooTired for a ledger I use a hardcover lined book like this here
I have one for food stuff, so about 100 meal ideas (veggie and non veggie) , monthly stock lists of food in the kitchen, pantry, freezers etc., recipes, and shopping lists.
I have another that is for the house, so stock taking of supplies (everything from tooth paste to floor wax), shopping lists, natural cleaning recipes, diy instructions and reminders for things like deep cleaning.
Honestly, I am a really scatter brained person, which is why I have to have menus and ledgers and lists! Grin

Trills · 04/08/2013 15:53

I definitely agree with charmingly bonkers. :)
