It makes me cringe and also the word ''courting''

Any words that make you cringe?

That red thing was a doidy cup. Interesting.
A couple more before I bathe;
Titty, I know a couple of people who use this 'titty bar' and 'titty holder'
Devastated, especially when it is something ridiculous like losing the dogs collar devastating the owner.

fit2drop · 27/08/2011 13:10

hate:

gusset

and

belly [shudder]

I call it streaky pork in the butchers .

its not a belly button its a naval

YoungishBag · 27/08/2011 13:11

I don't like 'large cock'. It's not really is it Hmm at best it's 8 or 9 inches - my foots bigger than that.

tooshorttonotice · 27/08/2011 13:15

YABU

Its a great word especially when used like "What the frock?...". whoops - sorry if you are being serious but really

Species8472 · 27/08/2011 13:18

I hate buggy as well. 'Stroller' is equally horrible.

Others I hate:

frock
Uni
panties
lippy -as in "I'm just putting some lippy on" urgh.
brolly
hubby
cuppa
bubba
l'il man

Thumbwitch · 27/08/2011 13:21

Belly! That's another one I can't use, I hate it.
Not keen on buggy and stroller but getting used to them (common usage in Australia)

A phrase I abominate:
slicking on lipstick/lipgloss. Ugh!

akaemmafrost · 27/08/2011 13:25

Oh I love "Frock"

Hate it when people describe clothes as "pieces". Oh get over yourself!

whatisitnow · 27/08/2011 13:31

Another vote for the words "meal" "moist" and "panties"

As for "frock", an old aunt used to use the word all the time, and as a little girl it just brought to mind a "chocolate frog".

I also hate it when someone says they're going on their "hollibags". Shut up.

alemci · 27/08/2011 13:31

i don't mind frock or making love. My MIL always talks about sweeping up instead of hoovering which is really antiquated IMO.

Veggies and Uni are really irritating.

My mum always says Tumbler dryer instead of tumble dryer which irks me too.

Thumbwitch · 27/08/2011 13:33

Another one: garment!
I know it's a normal word but I can't stand it.

Eglu · 27/08/2011 13:33

Agree with frock.

Also can not stand pamphlet, eugh!

Thumbwitch · 27/08/2011 13:34

And outfit! Urgh.

pranma · 27/08/2011 13:36

You are all young that's the problem-nothing wrong with a pretty frock :)
lots of words I dont like though
shag[except the bird]
c
f
t*
Sorry I just cant write thsm in full........you are young;I am old :)

Pixieonthemoor · 27/08/2011 13:37

Yes moist is horrific. I have a inexplicable hatred of brochure and, even worse...pamphlet. Aaaaarrrgh!

redexpat · 27/08/2011 13:38

Poorly. Sets my teeth on edge.

SquongebobSparepants · 27/08/2011 13:54

blouse
gusset
fanny
pop ( as in 'fizzy pop'

giyadas · 27/08/2011 13:55

fresh - for some reason it reminds me of dog poo.

Thumbwitch · 27/08/2011 13:57

blouse! another one. Ugh!

I have obviously got serious clothing-associated word ishoos.

I know this is an Americanism but "fannypack". Seriously? I mean, bumbag is bad enough but fannypack is just wrong.

KurriKurri · 27/08/2011 14:24

blouse is bad, but blouson is worse.

Pan · 27/08/2011 14:24

I hit someone once when they said they were 'poorly sick.'

Well, in my minds eye I did anyway.

pointydog · 27/08/2011 14:30

I like frock and courting. It's old-style innit

woollyideas · 27/08/2011 14:39

All of the above, except frock and fresh (fresh? WTF is wrong with that!)

I have to add:
settee
ciggie

missmiss · 27/08/2011 14:57

'Slacks' are made of beige nylon with an iron-in crease down the front and are heavily advertised in the back pages of the Daily Telegraph. The sort of thing an Alan Bennett character would wear, teamed with a polyester 'wind-cheater'.

I wear trousers.

Salmotrutta · 27/08/2011 15:06

Are you all actually me??

Just about every word so far is on my Black List

But you missed "prepared/preparation"

If an actual real life person ever said the word panties to me I would kill them and bury them under the patio.

I hate "telly" too - it's either TV or television.

Salmotrutta · 27/08/2011 15:07

I love the word "galoshes" - I feel it is very underused.
