AIBU re Pizza Hut buffet?

I took DS to Pizza Hut today for a treat. We both ordered the all you can eat buffet. DS' plate consisted of 1 slice of pizza, 5 slices of cucumber, 3 cherry tomatoes, croutons, a bread stick, potato salad and some bacon bits. I had 2 platefuls of filled of salad (lettuce, onion, beetroot, potato salad, peppers, cucumber, sweetcorn, peppers etc) and also had 4 slices of pizza altogether (but didn't eat it all).

However, I witnessed one very large lady fill her plate with a slice of every pizza available (6 pizzas), topped with pasta. She did this twice while we were there. Plus, as soon as new pizzas arrived people swamped the table and took way more than a human with a normal sized stomach could eat!

Is this normal practise in Pizza Hut?! Or do I just live in the wild??

organicgardener - for someone over 50, who posts in feminism you are not doing yourself any favours.

You hardly get a sherlock badge for jumping to that conclusion - but yes I am overweight, a lot overweight. I could get a specialist to send you a detailed medical history if it would assist your understanding that not all fat people eat like this woman did - nor that all people that eat like this woman are obese.

I do get pissed off as it's apparently OK to bash fat people - it's some how just fine when it isn't to do the same to black people/irish people/jews/muslims/gays/anyone else... but fat people, no worries - their feelings simply don't count.

I don't give a flying fuck - but there are people on MN who stay in their houses because of fuckwits like you - you make their lives hell. Grow up.

OOo freudianslipper commented on my thread too! Another MN crush. 2 in one night Grin

Nah I would think it's her life and her health and as an adult she can eat what she likes.

organicgardener · 17/08/2011 01:54

Thanks for researching me...all you need to have done was ask.

You're too touchy and to be honest the world doesn't revolve around you.

ChippingIn · 17/08/2011 02:01

Organic - Research you?? FFS - don't big yourself up. Your name comes up as often as a feminism topic comes up! You posted the other day something about having lived through the 60's... it's not exactly difficult to work out you are over 50. I have a brain I can retain information - but then, I'm not 50 Wink

I'm not too touchy - you are too bitchy.

Got another fat dig in there... nice.

Yes a nights sleep will recharge my batteries - shame you'll wake up as much of a bitch as you are now.

I'm really glad to be of service young lady.

Can I do anything else?

Like post on news so you can follow me there too :)

FreudianSlipper · 17/08/2011 02:17

someone has a crush on me

GwendolineMaryLacey · 17/08/2011 06:32

Fucksake Hmm.

Well said ChippingIn, all of it. Ha ha ha let's all laugh at the fat person. Hysterical...

pigletmania · 17/08/2011 08:54

Yes muffin it's the norm at buffets that's why people go to them. You should have had a small pizza than the buffet. It's sad that you analyse people there, yes I can happily put away 6/7 pizzas at a PH buffet. That what it's there for and yes it's the norm. Rather a freshly put out pizza than some manky dry pieces that have been there a while.

Scoffination, I love it. No I have no preferences with buffets, love different types of food. I only do buffet once or twice a year so for me it's a real treat and want to get my money worth

spudulika · 17/08/2011 09:05

YABU for going to Pizza Hut full stop.

The pizzas have plastic cheese on them.

Have not been in one since working there as a teenager. I was sacked for not smiling at the customers.

And yes - it is shaming to gorge in public, whether you are fat or not. Horrid, self-destructive behaviour. I say this as bit of a fatty myself.

spudulika · 17/08/2011 09:07

"It's sad that you analyse people there"

Why?

I'm fascinated by eating habits. My own and other people's. Especially if they're dysfunctional.

I love looking in people's shopping trolleys too.

So shoot me!

pigletmania · 17/08/2011 09:12

Oh dear Spud! When I go to a buffet all I concentrate on is what food on offer and how much of it I can eat. Yes the beauty if buffets is that people can eat as much as they want, for me it's a reare treat not the norm. I haven't been to a PH in years, much prefer Pizza Express

knittynoodle · 17/08/2011 09:13

YABU. And Pizza Hut dont do the All You Can Eat buffet anymore. They come to your tables with different pizza's and serve you unlimited pizza so you dont have to get up.

Malcontentinthemiddle · 17/08/2011 09:15

Oh they do it where I live! Last time, dd2 mainly ate salady bits and dd1 ate loads of pizza but none of us much cared for the pasta.

AIBU?

spudulika · 17/08/2011 09:21

Hope the thought that there might be someone like me standing behind you watching how much you're piling on your plate doesn't spoil your enjoyment too much Piglet! Wink

It's marrying into a family of massive over-eaters that's given me this preoccupation. Our family barbecues are shockers. My 78 year old FIL is 18 stone, partially immobilized by a stroke but still manages to put away 5000 calories worth of meat at a sitting. Shock

joric · 17/08/2011 09:24

Organicgardener- you sound like a bitch don't come across well.

joric · 17/08/2011 09:27

Knittynoodle- yes they do. DH went last week. Not me, I hate the grubby looking pizzas and the queue for them - don't get me started on the "pasta" !! :(

TheVermiciousKnid · 17/08/2011 09:29

Damn you all, now I am craving pizza. Angry

(Not Pizza Hut pizza though. Wink)

fuckityfuckfuckfuck · 17/08/2011 09:31

Maybe I went on a bad day, but the pizza hut free salad I had a few months ago was bloody horrible. Slimy and basically consisted of limp cucumber and dubious peppers. Now, if you want a really good free salad, get thee to a Harvester
As far as the all you can eat goes, it wouldn't escape my notice if someone was being greedy. But to post the details of your own 'worthy' portion? No need.

pigletmania · 17/08/2011 09:36

Nah that would not bother me, I'm oblivious to anyone when I am at a buffet

springlamb · 17/08/2011 09:37

I am not the greatest fan of buffets but if you partake you should eat however much you like. And you should try very hard not to judge the people on the next table.
I wonder what happens to the leftover food at the end of the night. I hate that messy people drop bits into the next serving dish, that they use the same serving spoon for two dishes and then put it back into the first dish, the blue cheese dressing always has a sprinkling of onionbits in it, and that someone always thinks it's ok to ignore the tongs and just grab a tomato or a bread roll.
On a cruise once (only time I ever afforded one) I was quite disgusted that a group (whose nationality shall remain nameless...but they weren't British) came out of the buffet with their main course and dessert on the same plate, complete with GRAVY.
As I said, you should try very hard not to judge the people on the next table, and I should try harder to practice what I preach!

plantsitter · 17/08/2011 09:40

The only good thing about this thread is that at least nobody has pretended to be concerned for the 12 slice lady's health like they usually do in fat-bashing threads.

The moral of the story is probably if you can only worry down a lettuce leaf and a nibble of pizza, don't go to an all you can eat pizza buffet.

RustyBear · 17/08/2011 09:44

chipping in - I was with you right up to the sly dig at the over 50's not being able to 'retain information' - sorry, but that's just as much of an unjustified stereotype. And no, the Wink doesn't make it better

DesperatleySeekingSanity · 17/08/2011 10:00

Im pmsl at the OP being disgusted by people eating all the can at an all you can eat buffet. And as usual its bash the fatty day on MN, if a slim person was filling up on salad there would it be ok for me to accuse for of being anorexic and only ever chewing on a lettuce leaf?
