AIBU re Pizza Hut buffet?

I took DS to Pizza Hut today for a treat. We both ordered the all you can eat buffet. DS' plate consisted of 1 slice of pizza, 5 slices of cucumber, 3 cherry tomatoes, croutons, a bread stick, potato salad and some bacon bits. I had 2 platefuls of filled of salad (lettuce, onion, beetroot, potato salad, peppers, cucumber, sweetcorn, peppers etc) and also had 4 slices of pizza altogether (but didn't eat it all).

However, I witnessed one very large lady fill her plate with a slice of every pizza available (6 pizzas), topped with pasta. She did this twice while we were there. Plus, as soon as new pizzas arrived people swamped the table and took way more than a human with a normal sized stomach could eat!

Is this normal practise in Pizza Hut?! Or do I just live in the wild??

  • You don't know it was all for her - people often go and get a piece for each person at the table etc etc your whole tone is just so bitchy.

I don't go to pizza hut these days, but when I was a teenager I used to go with my mum as a treat every few months. If we were there on a buffet day (they didn't use to do them every day, think it used to be weekdays 12-2 or something like that) then we would have the buffet. I do remember it being normal for people to go to the serving place as soon as the food was put out. I did that myself on some occasions - if you waited too long there would be literally nothing left and you'd have to wait until the next set of pizzas came out. But, I never did what some people did, which was to put about 5 slices of the same kind of pizza on their plate. I always thought that was rude, as if everyone just took one slice of each pizza they wanted there would be enough for everyone, then if they wanted anymore they could go up again the next time new pizzas came out.

If I went to the buffet now I probably would eat quite a lot because a. We can't afford to go out so if I did I would want my money's worth, b. I probably wouldn't eat during the day before going, and c. I would only take 1 slice from each pizza I wanted so if I wanted more from that type of pizza I would have to go up again either to see if there was some left or when they brought out a new one.

Her size is relevant to the fact that she was filling her plate up with 6 slices of pizza and topping it with pasta actually. and no it wasn't for others at her table, and yes I know that for sure because we were opposite the table she was sat at and she definitely wasn't sharing.

It is quite bitchy to imply people are eating inhuman amounts of food and saying that they live in the wild.
It was all you can eat at Pizza Hut - what did you expect? People to be eating 10p diameter towers of nouvelle cuisine drizzled in truffle oil and sipping Champagne?

How is her size relevant to how much pizza she took? So if it was a skinny person it would have been ok? Either you are objecting to what she did or how she looks - the two are not one and the same.

  1. OK yes your DS only ate fruit but cucumbers and tomatoes are part of the class of fruit that your average person classes as veg due to the fact that they are not sweet like your standard fruit.

  2. You hadn't mentioned that you had only not eaten the crusts when you first posted and I'm pretty sure that pizza hut have dips so you could have eaten three crusts with dips rather than having a fourth slice of pizza.

  3. Yes you commented on other people eating too much but you did focus on the large lady. You didn't, for example, mention the ginger bloke who ate several slices of pizza.

  4. All you can eat might be a bad concept, but that is because human nature is to exploit that as much as is possible. Because of that it is a good business plan for places who can charge for more than the average person will eat because people will naturally be drawn in because they think they can do better than the average person.

Yes I noticed her because she was overweight and no I probably wouldn't have noticed a 'skinny' person filling up as much. I noticed 'what she did' because of 'how she looked'. However I also commented on the fact that others flocked to the table when new pizzas appeared - hence my comment about living in the wild. I wondered if this was practice at all Pizza Hut buffets!

Well now you know. Pizza Hut is mainly frequented by obese plebs and greedy teenage boys who flock to the food like pigeons round bread when the staff bring it out to hurl into their flapping mouths. And the occasional ponce who is thoroughly disgusted by the spectacle - but they NEVER go back.

If I saw a skinny person scoffing 3 pizzas in one sitting I would be jealous as hell that they could eat that and not be the size of a semi detached house..

If I saw a lady of size Grin scoffing the same amount, I would simply think well I know how she got to be that big, and it aint her glands...

And I have been a lady of size myself, so I feel quite entitled to judge! :)

Pizza hut is something that doesn't float my boat...I prefer MD's to be honest.

Why do they never have an all you can eat?

Probably because they aren't using gimmicks to peddle their tat because it's not a failing business?

really who would not think maybe she should eat a little less no wonder she is big eating so much. just not everyone would comment on it but i doubt many would not think that she was being greedy, that is greedy
