He has only been in government about 1 year, the economy has flatlined and already there are riots and looting in the streets! He doesnt listen, and just gets everything so wrong!

It would be absolutely hilarious, if only the consequences weren't so tragic.

But I need a good laugh, so AIBU?

"are" children?

dear oh dear oh dear

EuphemiaMcGonagall · 20/08/2011 17:38

We in Scotland have the privilege of having two governments. Grin Feel the love. Hmm

Blueberties · 20/08/2011 19:06

especially feel the love for the one that doesn't raise taxes yet Grin

or does it? isn't that next year?

electra · 20/08/2011 20:58

The tories don't dispute that they look after their own and don't give a shit about anyone else - they wear their politics on their sleeve. It's what they've always been about. I'll bet DC and the rest of them laugh their heads off behind closed doors about their don't care policies.

Blueberties · 21/08/2011 06:23

Yes, they do, and they do.

You seriously think DC "laugh their heads off behind closed doors"?

Anyway I thought you hated hypocrisy. You seem to think it's ok if Labour pretend to give a shit but really don't.

issynoko · 21/08/2011 13:51

I know lots of Tories who spend most of their time raising money for charity etc - constantly volunteering - all that kind of 'don't give a shit' behaviour. Ladies who Lunch types. Presumably Electra - you are talking about career politicians, not the millions of non-policitian Tory supporters? Labour supporters don't have a monopoly on compasssion. Amazed there are people who see the world in such simplistic terms.

Blueberties · 21/08/2011 16:53

Chip on the shoulder politics. I don't believe most politicians "don't give a shit" either. It's just because they aren't giving you their money.

edam · 21/08/2011 17:30

Blueberties - I think it's KPMG who have been awarded the contract to run GP commissioning across London. Worth many millions.

And yes, you are right that the previous government also had a disgraceful love affair with management consultants and the private sector. However, it was slightly different - they thought they had to do it to convince the City that New Labour was no threat. Still wrong, though. But they were pandering to the idea that the market is king.

edam · 21/08/2011 17:31

(Previous government never got as far as actually privatising the NHS, though, which is what this lot are up to - read the Health Bill.)

electra · 21/08/2011 17:39

Er where did I say labour has a monopoly on compassion?

Blueberties · 21/08/2011 17:42

Sorry Edam that's rubbish. PFI - billions wasted for years to come. IT - billions wasted by the NHS. Management-admin consultancy - billions wasted by the NHS. The list is long and - yes - disgraceful.

Never got as far as privatising the NHS?

So - they get private companies to build the hospitals and they enter into unbreakable contracts for maintenance which involve eye-watering bills for years. Up to seventy years or so. Can't even change service provider if the service is crap.

That's privatisation of capital without even the benefit of getting any money for it OR the option of competition. That's lose-lose all the way.

Blueberties · 21/08/2011 17:43

"The tories don't dispute that they don't give a shit about anyone else"

you say it right there honeybunch

electra · 21/08/2011 17:44

Actually I don't like most politicians. Giving you their money? Eh? Blueberties, AKA daftpunk I see no point arguing with someone who votes for far right policies.

Blueberties · 21/08/2011 17:44

"they thought they had to do it to convince the City"

awwwwww

that's really rubbish you know

Blueberties · 21/08/2011 17:45

That sounds like the preamble to a thread flounce because you were caught out mired in prejudice.

Cheerio.

Blueberties · 21/08/2011 17:46

Oh by the way - I'm not daftpunk. There might be something you're right about somewhere but it's not that and it's not politics.

Cheerio again.

Grin

temper

Peachy · 22/08/2011 17:34

Ahem! Blue! never flounced in my life! Do have a life outside MN you know!

Electra no idea what you typed but am sure I agree anyhow.

Blueberties · 22/08/2011 17:45

you don't agree Peachy you are too mature

anyway it wasn't you flouncing it was electra losing her temper and flouncing the thread

Peachy · 22/08/2011 19:07

Oh right thought you meant me!

And I don't always actually want to be mature ta, mature can be so very boring.

electra · 22/08/2011 19:37

I didn't flounce - not my style on MN. Saying there's no point talking to one person is not the same as flouncing.

Blueberties · 23/08/2011 10:19

it kind of is when you lose your temper

quite different when you agree to disagree - I disagree with Peachy about most but agree with her about various things - I'll never convince her about the things she doesn't agree about but there we are - it's not like I think she's therefore someone I need to call names and stalk off with my nose in the air

electra · 23/08/2011 20:17

I didn't call any names. What I said was personal, I agree and therefore right to have been removed. However, there was no swearing involved.

Usually I don't say personal things on mumsnet but I myself take it personally when people like you say that my child with autism is not disabled and isn't really entitled to the help she gets. Ignorance like that makes me angry and understandably less measured in my responses.

Blueberties · 23/08/2011 20:41

At the risk of sounding like a two year old - yes you did, and that's why your post was deleted.

I didn't say that. In fact I very specifically didn't say that. Now you are making up excuses for your name-calling.
