He has only been in government about 1 year, the economy has flatlined and already there are riots and looting in the streets! He doesnt listen, and just gets everything so wrong!

It would be absolutely hilarious, if only the consequences weren't so tragic.

But I need a good laugh, so AIBU?

I wonder if things would be so much better right now with labour in government.
They made some fantastic decisions in the last few years didn't they?

usualsuspect · 14/08/2011 22:27

The conservative government makes me want to cry tbh

meditrina · 14/08/2011 22:27

BTW - I don't think it's his wealth or upbringing that's the problem, nor attitude to the previous administration (whose legacy does present problems). It's his public personality which I dislike.

alphabettyspagghetti · 14/08/2011 22:27

Bring back Spitting Image and Drop the Dead Donkey. Those programs would be great in a time like this.

2shoes · 14/08/2011 22:29

meditrina you make a good point, i think that Is why I Detest him with a capital D.
he paints this picture of being something he isn't

nogreythatmatters · 14/08/2011 22:29

Gordon Brown promised us " No more Boom and Bust" - fair play to him, his fiscal incompetency certainly did that - the UK Economy under him got rid of Boom and gave us lots of Bust.

The Press were "unfair to him and deceived the voters" - great delusion from some Mumsnet posters.

electra · 14/08/2011 22:31

My friends who voted tory, even they don't seem happy with their choice now. Who was it who said DC was more shallow than a pancake which has an elephant lying on it?

But Ed Milliband is never going to cut it either! Labour needs to sort themselves out.

flickor · 14/08/2011 22:34

I am just sad that all politicians are like clones of each other - white upper middle class men who make decisions based on their rather limited experiences. If they had created their own businesses or just done a normal job - seen the challenges of life the I could respect them. But these lot seem to think laying off thousands of jobs gives them the right to go to Wimbledon and charge students at extra three percent for loan on top of inflation. What can do normal people have ?

Yes, perhaps it is just the nature of conservatives to make bad decisions.

Cameron reminds me of someone...

Ah yes!

David "Mr Bean" Cameron

The british public sat back and let the media savage the Brown government

Er, um, could that have had anything to do with the dour one's triumphant victory bus tour of the UK after standing for election against himself as successor to the arch-fantasist Blair?

I'd rather laugh at Cameron and Co than weep at what this country, and others,, has been reduced to thanks to the likes of Blair, Brown, Campbell, Mandelson, Prescott, Hoon, Harperson et al.

electra · 14/08/2011 22:52

But you can't even generalise about conservative voters swc. Some vote tory no matter what, and some are swing voters. Some who voted tory this time are too young to remember what a fascist Margaret Thatcher was - I hope the 'new' conservatives are not going to treat people like she did although I don't have much hope.

Malcontentinthemiddle · 14/08/2011 22:55

No, you can't generalise. Some of them are unthinking idiots, and some of them have proactively decided to be idiots. Let's not lump all the idiots together in one group, for heaven's sake.

izzywhizzyletsgetbusy · 14/08/2011 22:56

Too late Chicken - the Miliband brothers waged war against each other over the right to claim the title of Mr MiliBean. To the best of my recollection, Ed won. Grin

izzywhizzyletsgetbusy · 14/08/2011 22:58

Quite right Malcolm, you have to leave room for the morons who believe whatever politicians tell them.

strictlovingmum · 14/08/2011 23:12

Yes electra, many voters are too young to remember Margaret Thatcher and even worse her successor John Major, we better all pray new Conservatives are not going to go down that road.
Fascistic ways indeed.

electra · 14/08/2011 23:17

LOL malcon

izzywhizzyletsgetbusy · 15/08/2011 02:23

A significant number of voters are old enough to remember Jim Callaghan's 'winter of discontent' that led to the Labour Party being booted out of power.

And some students of history will know that the working classes (as in not the feckless poor, but those who work at a low wage for their living) have won more concessions from Tory governments than they have won from Labour.

izzywhizzyletsgetbusy · 15/08/2011 02:27

Whoever it was hadn't met Tony Blair or Neil Kinnock electra Grin

electra · 15/08/2011 09:22

And what does 'feckless poor' actually mean? That if you can't get a job then it's your fault? Did it ever occur to you that some people can't get a job because they weren't lucky enough to have been born with the same skills and opportunities as some others? Some people are simply less employable than others. Typical tory response there....

pommedechocolat · 15/08/2011 09:25

EH? The economy didn't go down the shitter in the last year. These little rioting twats didn't get so entitled and lawless in the last year.
The problems in society go way way back to before DC and crew.

electra · 15/08/2011 09:32

The government should have handled the situation better. DC came back from holiday too late, imo and there is clearly bad feeling within the police about the comments DC has made regarding the tactics they used. Those criminals then got the message that the police force and the government are out of sync. Not helpful.
