He has only been in government about 1 year, the economy has flatlined and already there are riots and looting in the streets! He doesnt listen, and just gets everything so wrong!

It would be absolutely hilarious, if only the consequences weren't so tragic.

But I need a good laugh, so AIBU?

The thin g about asking to defend DLA came from your head though, we talked about personalising posts, taking personally.

DLA is the entry benefoiit for carer's allowance, carer's allowance for HRP cover for thsoe caring 35 (IIRC) hours a week; of course DLA and CA is part fo the wider Sn experience, ot just is. You only have to read a SN support board to know that. Blimey, SSD assume you claim when planning adaptations, respite etc; most aplces cannot issue a blue badge without it (councils have some special rules but with many childhood disabilities they are not relevant), I actually think it's wrong how bound up with DLA the system is as it makes it very difficult not to claim without opting out of the system altogether.

Blueberties · 19/08/2011 20:12

I don't think you're a liar - I think you read something into it that wasn't there because of your situation.

Peachy · 19/08/2011 20:13

And yes with namecalling they should be tougher

It was about all Sn though, eg the people that don't believe in ADHD and autism etc.

TheHumanCatapult · 19/08/2011 20:13

blueberries

well see they are telling us to educate but some people can not will not even begin to listern

and you know what now and then I get fed up of doing that and wnat to say you know what feck of and feck of again when you get there. But do try and keep it reasonable most the time becuase know if their circumstances change they be there claiming asking no matter what they say right now

Peachy · 19/08/2011 20:13

I disagree, I don't think that at all.

So be it.

TheHumanCatapult · 19/08/2011 20:16

yep I have not been able to get a blue badge till was awarded DlA infact I still can not as DLA wa sonly awarded for one year as apparently some numpy in office who read only Gp letter and not even seen rest of form feels that hey it may be all better in a year

so have had to appeal

Blueberties · 19/08/2011 20:16

yes it came it to my head from this post

"MNHQ actually encourages us to defend the nature fo DLA and explain and educate on here"

er which you wrote

Blueberties · 19/08/2011 20:17

yes well this thread isn't even about DLA

it's about something else and someone passionate about it brought it up - not me attacking

so if you're trying to do MN's bidding you're doing it very well and with a lot of enthusiasm

TheHumanCatapult · 19/08/2011 20:17

Blue so how are you going to defend the HB cuts and the fact there is no leave of appeal no circumstances allowed

TheHumanCatapult · 19/08/2011 20:18

DLa fits under the broad banner of them suggesting that we need to educate what it is like to have a child with sn be disabled etc .

Peachy · 19/08/2011 20:21

Nature of

Nature of is the rasons for it and the like#

Not of course a politcial styandpoint

And yes HC but nobody is listening.

I am going for definite now, have chidlren to screech at like a banshee

Blueberties · 19/08/2011 20:25

We can't afford it at the rate it is now. There will be homes available. Rents will follow HB. They will have to.

TheHumanCatapult · 19/08/2011 20:30

ok blueberrtie

Where i live it is dropping to £1000 a month for a 4 bed .That is tricky enough but add in I need something that is suitable for a wheelchair user and well that is dam near impossible

I am facing havong to go into a homeless unit with my dc which in fact will cost the council over £500 a week at least .

in the long term chances are I will be ok as it is likely they will end up having to build somewhere that is suitable which will cost dam site more than the HB been getting

Yet no leave of appeal

And as my LL put it ,,with the state of housing market and people not buying or can not afford to buy more are renting so demand is there .Rent is not dropping it is infact going up

Blueberties · 19/08/2011 20:39

If they build somewhere that's great - much more sensible solution.

TheHumanCatapult · 19/08/2011 20:50

it would be but that could be 18 month to 2 years living in a homeless unit which is erm going to be intresting let alone stress full

Peachy that is awful about your war friend. But completely ridiculous if he is wheelchair bound and suffering in the way you say. Why so afraid? He has nothing to be afraid of.

This will out me but so what. I know two people who used to get DLA. One is a 20 yr old man I was a student with. He requires one to one supervision to do anything. The LA at college couldn't deal with him and shouted at him when he got frustrated at being unable to understand what he was supposed to be doing. So he would start shouting. What calmed him down was me talking quietly to him, not trying to calm him but offering solutions to the problems he was facing. He can dress himself, and travel indepentently but cannot work without someone there watching him all the time. His mother, and other parents, thanked me for looking after him to the detriment of my own grade. He was assessed by ATOS and they passed him as fit for work.
2nd person had a brain tumour which meant he had part of his brain cut out. He can get dressed and just about walk 100m. Despite the fact that he really can't stay awake for more than 4 or 5 hours at a time he was passed fit for work by ATOS.

Prescient or what?
I warn you,? [Kinnock]began, addressing a nation about to descend into the bitterest stretch of the Thatcher era. ?I warn you not to be ordinary. I warn you not to be young. I warn you not to fall ill. I warn you not to get old.? This is what you are defending

It's not just the vacuum that is Camoron you have to fear, it's the "talent" that is Gideon. He has a plan A, cut taxes and benefits, which isn't going to work. We are going into another recession. This 2nd one is entirely caused by him. His and his party's ideology doesn't give a fuck about anyone but them. The rich. The poor and the middle classes are treated as untermenschen. We are scum, to be exploited. As we were by these cunts and by "New Labour". New Labour were not the cause of what we are suffering now. That was the greedy system the banks have in place, rewarding short term profits, not looking long term. Of course, Liebour could've stopped this, but the tories voted to rescue the wanks that got us into this mess. Oh, and whoever thought of PFI needs fucking with a red hot poker. The current government has no clue as to what life is like in the real world. Make them live on an estate for a month on minimum wage and I bet we will see some compassion at last.
Oh for a government that stands up to the rich and the red top press to do something for the poor! It'll never happen. They're too busy protecting their own interests.

Labradorlover · 19/08/2011 22:15

It was 10 days before DC visited Tottenham after the riots.....fear or knowing there's few votes there?

drosophila · 19/08/2011 22:39

Euphima - do the scottish poor and the scottish rich live cheek by jowl????

In London it is striking ow how close the poor and the rich live to each other.

GossipWitch · 19/08/2011 23:01

ok, I am a labour supporter, I felt that labour gave a shit about the poor, old and disabled enough to give them enough money and help to survive.

I wonder how much more this deficit is now the government has helped to bail out so many countries in crisis.

I wonder how much has been put into the deficit now that all these tax, vat ,and fuel rises are taking place.

How much has been saved from all the cuts this government have made?

And how much of all this extra cash is lining their pockets???

And did NC manage to get rid of those Nuclear thingys he was so darn passionate about?

Just pondering really, so far all I've seen from DC is an awful lot of back tracking, cuts to the important things like the police, army and DLA, price rises on the important things like food, petrol and energy, (is also wondering if the unrest in libya, afghanistan and iraq are to blame for this due to oil etc), and a hell of a lot of eyebrow raising, pauses and arm jestures.

2shoes · 19/08/2011 23:04

question....if we are broke, wtf are the shiney goverment doing sending loads of money abroad.?

EuphemiaMcGonagall · 19/08/2011 23:15

Drosophilia Rarely, in fact that was a reason put forward in the media for no riots in Scotland.

In Glasgow, for example, the poorest areas are on the outskirts of the city. It's the rich who live in the centre! (Roughly speaking.)

Blueberties · 20/08/2011 04:39

"And how much of all this extra cash is lining their pockets???"

What on earth do you mean?

I don't think they particularly want to send any money at all to Europe. They're sending money to Africa because they give a shit.

ChickenLickn · 20/08/2011 12:02

No riots in Scotland, but Scotland doesnt have a Tory government.

No riots in Wales, but Wales doesnt have a Tory government.

interesting point, chicken.

Blue, I can't speak for Gossip, but David Cameron et al are part of a cosy elite who run things for the benefit of their own group. Carving up the NHS and other public services means fat contracts for management consultancies and firms like G4S. Companies that have access to the top echelons of government. It's a corrupt merry-go-round.

And when privatised services fail, the taxpayer has to put even more cash in - think it was in Norfolk where the council outsourced property maintenance for council-owned buildings including social housing. Company that did it fucked up and went bust - so the council had to pick up the bits, having already handed bust company loadsamoney, but couldn't bring it in house because they didn't have the skills or workforce any more. So they've re-tendered it.

Blueberties · 20/08/2011 16:21

They do have a lot of Westminster money though - haven't started their own tax raising yet.

This is a joke if it's just directed at the Tories. An absolute joke. Billions was squandered by the last administration and went straight into private pockets - and will be doing so when are children are paying tax under some of the contracts.

So which contracts exactly in the last 12 months? And please, please tell me it's a joke if you just direct that at the Tories.
