Sorry in advance Esta but that just made me shudder. Not nice.

SpecialFriedRice · 23/07/2011 19:32

It's only gross if they smell or are actually dirty.

Showering for showering sake is ridiculous. Waste of water, waste of time, and not great for skin.

Some people need to shower everyday, or a couple of times a day. Others only need to shower 2/3/4 times a week.

LineRunner · 23/07/2011 19:33

The very use of the words 'stink' and 'fanny' together suggests wrongness.

AnyFucker · 23/07/2011 19:38

esta is either

  1. a particularly nasty bloke

  2. a particularly nasty "man's woman"

  3. a wind up merchant

All the above are shite, and do not bear engaging with Smile

emsies · 23/07/2011 19:43

When I grew up we didn't have shower, just a bath with a bit on the taps for washing hair. I'm pretty sure we had "bath night" one night a week and extra if we'd been to the beach/got particularly muddy! My parents didn't bathe every day. I don't think we were particularly odd then "bath night" was quite a common expression!

I used to shower everyday when working but managing my toddler without my OH during the week mon-fri I do find it hard to fit in a shower every day on my own so its more like every other day. And each time I worry if I will hear her get up to mischief over the sound of it (She hasn't yet!)

ApocalypseCheeseToastie · 23/07/2011 19:47

We aren't supposed to actually wash vaginas.

The outer, furry bits yes. Anywhere north of that, absolute not.

alemci · 23/07/2011 19:51

I always shower everyday. I would hate not to be able to in the morning but would have a strip wash if I was desperate.

My mum in law said people used to stink before they invented deodrants.

namechange100 · 23/07/2011 19:53

Befuzzled I dont bath daily but I do wash daily and not just my hands and face so I know I dont smell.

Fooffy · 23/07/2011 19:53

Sorry LITR should take my own advice and read the whole thread.

namechange100 · 23/07/2011 19:55

AN i dont bath my DS every day either so there, it is bad for their skin, however he does get a top n tail every day/night with a soapy flanel, which are changed every other day.

whatsallthehullaballoo · 23/07/2011 20:00

I am in the YANBU camp. I personally think everyone should shower/ bathe or wash all there crevices (yuk!) every day or else - yes they do smell!!

I very rarely I may leave the house in the morning without having a shower but I would have had one the night before and I would have one that night.

emsyj · 23/07/2011 20:06

All the people who wash 'not just hands and face' every day - this sounds like really hard work to me. If you wash yourself with a soapy sponge/flannel, I think it's quite difficult to 'rinse' without taking forever over it. I thought about doing this in the morning (after a shower the night before) in order to save time but when I tried it, it took as long as having a quick shower... Confused

GwendolineMaryLacey · 23/07/2011 20:18

Shower every day here unless I'm not leaving the house. But then half the time that'll be on a Saturday and that's long, hot bath day.

All this talk of washing sounds like more of a faff than a 2 minute shower, which is all you need to wash the necessaries. You don't have to luxuriate like a radox advert if time is an issue.

catgirl1976 · 23/07/2011 20:20

I would LOVE one of those wet rooms, with the great big shower head that look like a monsoon coming down.........

tethersend · 23/07/2011 20:27

Do you reckon I can get another day out of these knickers if I turn them inside out?

namechange100 · 23/07/2011 20:27

emsyj We only have a bath so for use it is quicker.

As far as I am aware my arms and legs, tummy and back do not emit smells or secrete any hazardous substances that would cause a biological disaster.

So OP YANBU if they dont wash inbetween. (sorry I dont think I actually answered you)

But I do wear clean clothes every day, change towels two/three times a week and wash hair every other day otherwise this does get smelly and greasy.

namechange100 · 23/07/2011 20:28

if they do wash inbetween feck

namechange100 · 23/07/2011 20:30

Oh I know showers are quick....namechage100 is having shower envy Envy back in out other house we had one AND a dishwasher Hmm

LineRunner · 23/07/2011 20:30

I think that meant, in between those days, not in between the mucal folds?

namechange100 · 23/07/2011 20:33

line mucal? sorry if I have overlooked summit.
I wash inbetwen folds err under boobs whether in bath or washing Blush

FairhairedandFrustrated · 23/07/2011 20:38

I used to bath once a week before I started dating! Shock Blush

And when I was a teenager I believed the myth of not being 'allowed' to wash whilst on my period... so I can only imagine what I smelt like then...

Nowadays I shower most days, but still not every day, relying on a quick wash if i'm busy.

Dh showers every day, but not if he's made it as far as bedtime and I've told him there's no chance... Wink

LRDTheFeministNutcase · 23/07/2011 20:48

'And nothing in this world stinks like a stinky fanny does.'

Really, really, no.

What are you doing to yourself that it smells bad? In all seriousness: if it smells bad, you need to see a doctor. You might have got an infection from soap irritation or something. But normally, if you follow a minimum level of hygienic practice - eg., changing tampax/towels, treating thrush promptly, etc. - you should not be smelly, and you shouldn't need to shower every day.

I'm not sure you're actually serious though ... if anyone's fanjo really smelt that awful, to 'splash water' on it would surely do very little to change that! Hmm

SnapesPlaything · 23/07/2011 20:50

I wash my hair and body four times a week, wear clean clothes every day and wash my body if I have been doing physical activity. That means that once a week I go two days between showers and feel pretty gross, three times a week is not enough really.

spiderslegs · 23/07/2011 20:54

My 'crevices' do not smell, I bathe three times a week & wash my hair once.

Can't abide showers - for too utilitarian.

I am as fragrant as a Summer's day.
