What, you have water poured on you in bed?

GreenEyesandHam · 24/07/2011 20:39

Yes, yes I do.

A Caractacus Potts / Chitty Bang Bang contraption, it also cracks eggs into a frying pan and cooks them for my breakfast whilst I dry off.

Just got back to thread. Just started giggling again (sorry :) ).

Seriously...when I get depressed & can't move let alone shower..by the next day I know I smell sweaty. On recovery I get back to daily showers - due to meds I get dry skin so I use Johnson's 24-hr moisture bodywash. I have a water meter - showers don't add much to my bill.

Some nursely info: - If you are overweight you should check ALL skin folds at least DAILY for friction sores & candida. Wash daily between all skin folds & creases & under breasts, then dry well. (I understand cos I'm overweight).
Daily genital & bottom washing is important to prevent infection. Always wash bottom last! Faecal matter is a major infection risk. As for periods - dried blood reeks; trust me.
My colleagues from '3rd world African countries' & Phillipines seem very hygiene conscious compared to the some of the British. They always come in with clean hair or extensions, have showered, full make-up on - & they really prioritise their teeth.
Oohh & I love men with smart clean clothes & short spiked hair who shower (post weight training especially), shave daily & smell of nothing but cologne. Ahem.

Really do not understand why people have a strip wash/ wash down, gagging with basin full of water then face cleanser then fresh water to wash of soap, takes ages just get in the shower you lazy so in so's

gagging aside, while I'm soaping cleanser on my face I'm running the tap to fill the basin. I wash cleanser off in the virgin water with a face flannel; then I get the bum flannel (I used to have a hook situation on the wall labelled 'face' and 'bum')(for the kids) and wash down there; rinse out the flannel; wash under my arms; rinse out the flannel. Let out the basin of water and swill it round to clean the sink. Not that complicated (although definitely tmi), takes about 30 seconds. There is no. way. I would have a strip wash otherwise what would be the point of not having a shower? The whole point is that I avoid getting my bod wet unless I absolutely have to unless I'm swimming in a turquoise sea in the med, in which case it's fine because the sun dries off my bod and I don't have to struggle with a towel

maypole1 · 24/07/2011 23:02

I don't know how these people get laid my oh would never sleep with someone who had not washed either during of after a period when I asked him he just laughed

Dried blood smells also after sex when a man has come inside you or you have come those who don't wash are disgusting

I am so glad in my younger days I always insisted on the guys having a shower before sex and judging by this thread I am right too yuk yuk

springydaffs · 24/07/2011 23:08

tmi - too much italics

The last time I had a wash was a week ago - I don't have a shower, only a bath and have just not made the time to do it.

I don't smell or look especially bad!

So sue me!

beautiful thread. i feel i know you all very well now!

people dont automatically smell by not showering every day. some will though. personally i generally have a shower before i go out, so if i'm not going anywhere, i dont shower that day. i rarely stay in more than one day at a time so we dont get to days and days of festering. i wish i could leave my hair longer, i have to wash it every other day, and the second day is pretty much 'should have washed my hair!' day. i have to tie it up. i know people say if you leave it it doesnt need washing, but currently it does, and i cant be going round with uber greasy hair waiting for it to understand its not supposed to need washing so often. my SIL only needs wash hers once a week and it never looks greasy. i have big envy.

showering before bed has never worked for me, i still wake up feeling like i need a shower. and as for showering after sex. do you mean you get up and go and have a shower straight afterwards?? no chance, i'm out like a light. i would never then go out and about without having a shower, but i'm not dragging myself out of an orgasm coma to shower. i have no problem smelling of sex in the comfort of my own bed.

Pandemoniaa · 25/07/2011 01:15

I get up, I shower. In hot weather I shower again in the evening. I'm not suggesting that people who shower less often are filthy pigs but it wouldn't work for me. I like the feeling of clean too much! Also, I prefer to put clean clothes on a clean body. But if I am honest, I'm not very tolerant of soap dodgers since it takes such a small amount of effort to keep properly clean.

Solo · 25/07/2011 01:21

That just got up smell is true with some people. One of my work colleagues overslept one morning, rushed into work and it was obvious she hadn't showered.
I can't really shower before bed (assuming it's to go to sleep) because a shower wakes me up. It's great in the morning though :)

TigerseyeMum · 25/07/2011 19:50

I love showering before bed because I use lavender shower gel and brush my teeth in the shower. It's like a little secret luxury (only not so secret now).

Mandy2003 · 26/07/2011 15:25

I won some chocolate truffle shower gel at the school fair. I am very nervous of using it, as presumably was the person who donated it!

ScarlettIsWalking · 26/07/2011 17:27

" sex in the air I love the smell of it" :))

LineRunner · 26/07/2011 17:32

GreenEyes, you're living in a Wallace and Grommit fantasy.

Insomnia11 · 26/07/2011 17:47

I don't always shower every day, especially not when the weather is cooler, would never leave it more than every other day though as my hair needs washing then anyway. If the weather is warm or if I go to an exercise class/running then I may end up having more than one shower in a day though. But say tonight, I have a Zumba class, so will shower after and wash my hair but then not again in the morning. I definitely don't smell, (except of L'Occitane Notre Flores Jasmin I hope) I don't sweat very much, have a sedentary job, use deodorant and wear clean clothes.
