Naggy and bossy at the same time. And so tribal.

YABU
I like her.

mauricetinkler · 20/07/2011 18:20

Diane Abbott - now there's another total knobber. My god labour have elected some proper idiots over the years.

aliceliddell · 20/07/2011 18:20

ManicMiner seems unaware of an unerring ability to tick at least one cliche off the list with every contribution. Or maybe not. Hilarious, but a leetle bit of a waste of time. Of course loads of idiots people hate Harman. She's a feminist.

ManicMiner · 20/07/2011 18:20

"Not really. It's a shame that that is basically what happens. Most MPs focus on men disproportionately by default - same as the rest of the world."
Rubbish.

And if someone in my family was raped, do you really think anything Harman has done would result in justice? Does "tough on crime, tough on the causes of crime" ring a bell?

JosieRosie · 20/07/2011 18:23

'she's hated by an awful lot of people'

Gosh yes, probably the same kind of delightful people that have been falling over themselves on here to call her 'naggy', 'bossy', 'irritating' and oh yes, let's not forget the ever-realiable 'cunt'. Real charmers some of you lot. I think HH must be made of pure steel to have put up with decades of this crap and not thrown the towel in years ago.

EvenLessNarkyPuffin · 20/07/2011 18:24

How does she not represent married women or men????? Can you only be represented by someone who shares your exact views on every subject? Are you suggesting that she can't represent men because she's a feminist?

MPs manage to pursue all kinds of work alongside their constituency duties. A good few over the years have made frequent trips to the Middle East to facilitate the sales of British arms or hold consultancy roles with private companies to eg support the tobacco industry. Is feminism just too distasteful?

mauricetinkler · 20/07/2011 18:24

It's a really piss-poor argument aliceliddell to say people don't like HH because she is a feminist. Piss-poor.

EvenLessNarkyPuffin · 20/07/2011 18:29

It's enough of an argument for most of those attacking her on this thread (excluding SWC, who is a right winger with a brain)

grovel · 20/07/2011 18:31

I got the impression that most people on this thread regard her feminism as a redeeming feature (much needed).

OP posts:
aliceliddell · 20/07/2011 18:32

But oddly, Maurice, an argument that many of us seem to agree with. I'm a feminist. Loads of men don't like me because they don't like feminists. They find us threatening. Good. I don't care if they don't like me. I don't likeg sexist men. That equal enough for you?

Malcontentinthemiddle · 20/07/2011 18:33

It's even more piss-poor to say that because she's a feminist she despises half the population.

filthyfunkproject · 20/07/2011 18:34

JosieRosie - She's a politician, it's part of her job description to be hated by people.

ELNP - I've already said she's well known for being anti-male and anti- traditional family - she's a left wing nutter on a crusade, and that crusade is to undermine Tory values - values like marriage, and actually having a father for your kids.

FrankieSandford · 20/07/2011 18:35

Yes, because most of the anti-feminist posts get removed, and their posters banned. Then the founder on Mumsnet can go on newsnight and claim that feminist views are the dominant ones among British mothers, when in reality that is no-where even close to being true.

But oddly, Maurice, an argument that many of us seem to agree with. I'm a feminist. Loads of men don't like me because they don't like feminists. They find us threatening. Good. I don't care if they don't like me. I don't likeg sexist men. That equal enough for you?
And plenty of women and men don't like sexist women. We aren't "threatened" by you we just know that what you speak is utter bullshit and wish you would go away. That good enough to you?

EvenLessNarkyPuffin · 20/07/2011 18:37

Ah but didn't you know Malcontentinthemiddle, rape and domestic violence are 'female issues'. And she shouldn't just be focusing on those because what about the menz. And women care more about other things too (though obviously they must care about the aforementioned female issues).

EvenLessNarkyPuffin · 20/07/2011 18:38

Ah. The deviant voters have appeared Wink

Don't really care about Harriet Harman. Quite fancy Nigel Harman though.

FrankieSandford · 20/07/2011 18:40

Are cases of rape and domestic violence down in Harman's constituency over the past 14 years she has been MP?

I ask again, what has she done to improve her consituency during her time there?

Why does she feel the need to wear a stab proof vest to walk around there? Shouldn't the people there like her, after all, she has a massive majority?

mauricetinkler · 20/07/2011 18:43

I liked Thatcher swc. I like strong-minded women who, to put it bluntly, don't take any shit. Can't stand Harman.

FrankieSandford · 20/07/2011 18:47

I don't recall Thatcher being an identity politicker. Labour is supposed to represent working class people in general. People like Harman only care about minority issues. While fighting feminist causes, other people (including women, who suffer from lack of jobs and housing just as much as men do) suffer.

grovel · 20/07/2011 18:49

Frankie, you may have missed my point.
Harriet's espousal of female causes is fine by me. I just don't like her.

FrankieSandford · 20/07/2011 18:51

I don't like feminism or Harman. There are feminists I don't mind but they aren't in parliament.

aliceliddell · 20/07/2011 18:53

So, you know Dennis Skinner? Used to be a miner. Talks about miners and workers and so on. Shouldn't really be an MP. Not everybody in Bolsover is a miner.
