Naggy and bossy at the same time. And so tribal.

I'm white and middle class and once superheated a bra and made the the underwiring go funny because it got too hot when it got caught up with the towels and tumble-dryed.

See? ELNP is a real (ish) feminist... Grin

Unless becoming a Real Feminist would involve foreiting my totally fairly won bingo prize.

It depends...

If you're a marxist feminist, you'd share it out fairly... Grin

Love the new name SAF-

I wonder will feminism still be around in 100 years time?

Report
EvenLessNarkyPuffin · 22/07/2011 16:35

No. Not one of those. Unless the prize is Revels and then you can have the orangey ones and the coffee.

DontCallMePeanut · 22/07/2011 16:37

Of course it will. The feminists of today may die, but the feminist movement won't. It may look different, taste different, but it grows stronger, day by day, because every doubter bears a new believer...

And how can anyone not like coffee revels? That's not normal...

At the slow rate of progress, I would wearily say yes.
I wonder if democracy will still be around in 100 years?

Democracy isn't around today - not true democracy.

hopefully feminism will change that and we will have a real democracy - then feminism won't be needed.

Do we really have democracy now? Grin

I spent half my Politics In History exam arguing that the last time we experienced true democracy was in 2001. My tutor told me he'd laughed all the way through marking my essay, as he knew how right-wing I'd been just 8 months earlier...

That's a bit too much of a mouthful to adopt as a name... DontCallMePervertedCoffeeReveLovingSoCalledFeminist.

Not sure it'd fit...

True Democracy means the people decide everything - we vote on all issues, that's not the case is it -

DontCallMePeanut · 22/07/2011 16:55

OK, latitude... Who was the last Prime Minister unanimously voted in, with more than 330 seats elected in his party?

Wasn't David Cameron. Yet he's still PM. If we had democracy, the hung parliament would have resulted in another election.

We have 'representative' democracy - not really the same thing.

Can we kick this 6% conviction myth out right now. the actual conviction rate is over 50%

Exactly, filthyfunkproject. We elect people who decide on those matters. I forgot what the term for that was. Is it Polyarchy? Something like that... Not autocracy, as that removes the vote entirely (eg; Libya)

Pakdook, no one has mentioned a 6% conviction rate Confused

Once in court, the conviction rate is 58%. No one said 6%.

6% was the figure used for false allegations.

EvenLessNarkyPuffin · 22/07/2011 17:02

No Pakdooik. The 'over 50%' is over 50% of those charged with rape. Those cases only represent are 6% of reported rapes.
