Naggy and bossy at the same time. And so tribal.

Can't you woman-hating comedians get some new material?

i think you are correct on the woman hating...less correct on the comedians...maybe some new material would help them

TartyDoris · 22/07/2011 15:29

I am of the female sex. I used to think I was a feminist to some extent, but reading threads like this is making me about as anti-feminist as it is possible to be. It's actually making me upset that there are women who carry around such unbridled hatred towards men.

DontCallMePeanut · 22/07/2011 15:30

TartyDoris, let's put it this way. How would you feel if you, or your daughter, or anyone you know was raped, and the reaction you got everywhere was "well, you might be lying about it..."

TartyDoris · 22/07/2011 15:31

I think this thread should be moved to the feminist section of the website. It's just gotten too tribal for regular discussion to be worthwhile.

DontCallMePeanut · 22/07/2011 15:32

Also, what man hating?

Rapist hating, yes.

Victim Blaming hating, yes.

Man hating? Nope. Not seen any here...

"TartyDoris, let's put it this way. How would you feel if you, or your daughter, or anyone you know was raped, and the reaction you got everywhere was "well, you might be lying about it...""
I hope that never happens. If it did, I would rather that than if my son was accused of rape and the reaction I got was "he MUST be guilty, he's a man".

EvenLessNarkyPuffin · 22/07/2011 15:33

Those accused of murder, child abuse etc don't get anonymity.

TartyDoris · 22/07/2011 15:33

What about alleged rapist hating? No? Then why should alleged rapists not have anonymity?

DontCallMePeanut · 22/07/2011 15:33

And TD, with some of the slurs you made against us single mothers yesterday, I'd quite happily say you're anything but feminist...

sorry if that offends you, but no woman deserves to be made to feel inferior because her DC's father is not in their life.

People cleared of murder generally don't have the stigma of "probably having done it" following them around for the rest of their life.

filthyfunkproject · 22/07/2011 15:34

Absolutely agree TD - I hope my son never has anything to do with women who hold views similar to those expressed on this thread -

EvenLessNarkyPuffin · 22/07/2011 15:35

Nor do those accused of shop lifting, speeding, animal neglect, fraud etc

DontCallMePeanut · 22/07/2011 15:36

94% of men accused of rape did it...

By all means, stand by your son if accused. But remember that.

In the mean time, make sure your son is clear on consent, etc, and then it almost definitely wouldn't happen.

You or your DD are more likely to be raped than your son is to be falsely accused of rape. Yet you'd still rather give "alleged" rapists the benefit of the doubt.

TartyDoris · 22/07/2011 15:36

"And TD, with some of the slurs you made against us single mothers yesterday, I'd quite happily say you're anything but feminist..."
I thought I was, now I know I am not. At least if the feminists on here are typical of what you have to be like to be a feminist. I am happy to say that I am proud not to be a feminist. I am a well-adjusted woman who does not have a burning hatred of the male gender.

EvenLessNarkyPuffin · 22/07/2011 15:36

Really TartyDoris????

TartyDoris · 22/07/2011 15:36

"94% of men accused of rape did it... "
Explain to me how you could possibly know that?

filthyfunkproject · 22/07/2011 15:37

Parents used to worry about the men their daughters might be associating with - today it's the other way around.

Well done feminists -

Google the Fawcett Society.

The rates for false rape claims are 6%

100% of accused rapists - 6% false claims = 94% correctly accused.

94%

Yet we'd rather give these men the benefit of the doubt, llet them out, and leave them free to rape again. And again. And again.

TartyDoris · 22/07/2011 15:40

The constant claims that if a man is alleged to have raped someone, "they probably did it". If two women alleged that a man has raped them "they definitely did it".

Can you imagine if that same logic was directed towards women?

Malcontentinthemiddle · 22/07/2011 15:40

True that, FFP. Back in the 90s, my parents insisted I carry a rape alarm, told me to be careful and not walk along in the dark, and so on. These days it is the parents of sons who tell them to carry a False Accusation Alarm when they go out, I believe, and sit up at night in fear that some little trollop will take it into her head to say he raped her.

O, feminism, feminism, what hast thou done?

EvenLessNarkyPuffin · 22/07/2011 15:41

Yes. False accusations or rape are on the same level as those of any other crime. People are convicted on the word of an eye witness for all kind of crimes, from rape to murder to shoplifting. Those accused of rape are treated in the same way as any other suspect of a crime. But rape is different. Because for some reason being a victim of rape makes you less credible than being the victim of any other crime where you are the sole witness.

DontCallMePeanut · 22/07/2011 15:41

All this logic is backed up with facts. Government statistics. Y'know? Reliable sources?
