AIBU to shoplift from Superdrug?

sassyminder · 18/07/2011 22:04

I have been using this cream eye shadow for ages. I can find it only on Superdrug.
First it was from one company that does not make it anymore so I had to move on to another more expensive..3x more expensive...anyway I was happily buiyng it always when I neede but could not bring myself to stock it because would feel guilty as the thingy is nearly £15 (it is a small round pot of eye cream shadow!)
Anyway, last time I went to Superdrug just to buy it as I was runing out, and could not find my colour...so I asked the lady who works in the make up session if there was any similar product from other maker and she said, no there wasnt and that maker would also stop making that product and they would not receive NONE anymore...it is all finished.
I could not help myself, I mean..I helped myself with the tester one that was there intacted...opened but new...
Now, it looks like I am the only person in the world who likes that thing doesn't it?

I will be going to Boots, though, you know , now I am afraid of the CCTV as someoen said my pic could be there for them to get me later..

I accidentally stole a copy of Good Housekeeping from Tesco once. I took it back and the store manager gave me a bag of Chocolate Chunk cookies that he was about to reduce Hmm as a reward for my honesty. BTW, I was 28, not 8.

YOU MIGHT GET A REWARD.

knittedbreast · 19/07/2011 11:01

i dont think anyone has been harmed by your theft, just dont make a habit out of it.

Also if you are paying that much have you considered benfit makeup? Mac? Dior?

I just madde a massive life decision, i stopped buying Dior just show and have now got Dior show extase and its really good, you only need a touch and it dousnt feel like you are wearing mascara at all!

sassyminder · 19/07/2011 11:01

But if I take it back they will call the police won't they??

I doubt they would call the police, tbh. They would call the police if you were caught stealing but doubtful if you were returning it. They might take you into the security office and tell you off a bit. Just cry and say you were having an off-day, won't happen again. Try and do a snot bubble out of your nose if you can.

Fifis25StottieCakes · 19/07/2011 11:07

I unintentionally stole some razors. I walked out the shop with them in the crease of the pram hood. The bloke from the shop ran along the street after me, that was canny embarrassing

Op dont bother taking it back, what would they have done with the tester pot anyway, its not like they can sell it.

Next time try for something bigger while your friend keeps toot resist the urge

sassyminder · 19/07/2011 11:08

I do I do use this creamy white thing under my eyes to cover my black eyes I really do, but I won't post a photo of myself for obvious reasons.
It is very subtle ( and so are my black eyes) it is just a look that makes me feel refreshed and ready for the day ahead.
But as I have been spending such ammount of money on it I might try now a proper concealer and move on.

Yes YABU. You're a thief.

FilthyDirtyHeathen · 19/07/2011 11:13

Don't take it back ... jeez. You'll look like a right twit. If you feel the need for punishment, keep the bloody thing on your mantlepiece so that you can see it every day and meditate on the guilt and shame of being a Superdrug eyeshadow thief

sassyminder · 19/07/2011 11:14

oh cups, thanks again, now you reminded me I was having a very dificcult day indeed...I did not link it to the way I was feeling on that they...I was very tormented though, and I bought a lot of things I didn't really needed that day, eg: new pair of trainers for my daughter to wear on sports day, a whole three piece sports outfit with new pair of trainers for me go and watch my daughter on sports day (still can't believe I done it), 6 nails varnish and I treated myself and my daughter to diner at our favorite restaurant even though dinner was ready at home...

tke it back, say you found it in your baby's buuggy, they must have nicked it.

Apparently one christmas I nicked loads of decorations from a shop and shoved them into the nearest available thing, it was Mum's brolly: when she opened it she was rained upon by glittery crap.

And my Cousin used to nick baby clothes that Aunt would wrap for Christmas gifts.

But we were both under 2 and had no morals, above that age tis wrong.

Have dragged boys back with bits over the years, never a problem.

asecretlemonadedrinker · 19/07/2011 11:19

I got accussed of theiving from superdrug when I was about 15 - I was buying a makeup bag and was looking inside them to see if they were roomy/had pull out bits etc., and some woman said something like"I know what you are doing" Confused, anyhooo, went to the counter with my bits and bobs and the checkout woman checked all inside the makeup bag I bought saying "I've just been told someone has been trying to steal things inside these" - took me a minute to cotton on, but I wish I had just left all the items there. So....it's superdrug theivers like you that give innocents like a bad name!

sassyminder · 19/07/2011 11:20

I will keep the thingy on my mantlepiece and never use it, maybe use this story to teach my duaghter how it is wrong in case she goes through this phase on her teens
and in fact I will as for tomorrow start a new look using touch eclat!
I promise.

Oh man, all joking aside. Just use the eyeshadow (if you are confident there are no cooties in it) and chalk the whole thing up to experience. And never do it again. And never tell anybody in RL what you did. Seriously, it was a daft thing to do but you don't sound like a serial shoplifter, forgive yourself this once.

ShirleyKnot · 19/07/2011 11:38

Touche Eclait is a HIGHLIGHTER not a concealer.

Abcinthia · 19/07/2011 11:40

asecretlemonadedrinker I also got accused of stealing from Superdrug when I was 15.

I went in there with some friends to have a look at the makeup and a security guard followed us around the entire time we were in there. In the end, we decided we didn't want anything but on the way out I got stopped and the guard was really threatening. He kept saying he was going to phone the police; he had seen me steal something and put it in my bag and told me to shut up everytime I tried to ask what it was I'd supposedly stolen. I was utterly mortified but eventually he let me go after another Security Guard intervened. I've never gone in there since.

sassyminder · 19/07/2011 11:44

hey you cookcleaner, yes I stole and yes I am not proud of it, and yes as you can see, money was not an issue, or even prices, at least I don't go on shovering my negativity and anger on other people no matter how wrong they are, but that is just me.
Maybe you too should address your issues.
Everyone have issues and get it wrong sometimes or make mistakes.
I bet you and others here are not perfect Am I wrong??

OP posts:
sassyminder · 19/07/2011 11:48

And Abcinthia, in your case coild you not make them prove you stole, make them search you and sue them later for false accusation and abuse??

OP posts:
Chandon · 19/07/2011 11:51

just keep it, and never do it again.

lurkerspeaks · 19/07/2011 11:51

Why did you not look for the eyeshadow on the internet.

It is the source of all discountinued make up (apart from my beloved Prescriptives foundation).

FilthyDirtyHeathen · 19/07/2011 11:56

Indeed Touche Eclat is a highlighter but it does detract from eye bags with a banging white ring around your eyes - which I think is the look the OP is after. Personally, I wouldn't use it OP. Why don't you go to your local department store and have a consultation with one or two of the big cosmetic brands - ask them to show you what products they recommend fir you. THis is by far the best way to do it. My other tip is don't get shackled with one product because inevitably it will be discontinued - keep your options open and shamelessly switch brands whenever your stocks are low.

OracleInaCoracle · 19/07/2011 12:00

Sassy, no, not perfect. But not a thief.
