AIBU to shoplift from Superdrug?

sassyminder · 18/07/2011 22:04

I have been using this cream eye shadow for ages. I can find it only on Superdrug.
First it was from one company that does not make it anymore so I had to move on to another more expensive..3x more expensive...anyway I was happily buiyng it always when I neede but could not bring myself to stock it because would feel guilty as the thingy is nearly £15 (it is a small round pot of eye cream shadow!)
Anyway, last time I went to Superdrug just to buy it as I was runing out, and could not find my colour...so I asked the lady who works in the make up session if there was any similar product from other maker and she said, no there wasnt and that maker would also stop making that product and they would not receive NONE anymore...it is all finished.
I could not help myself, I mean..I helped myself with the tester one that was there intacted...opened but new...
Now, it looks like I am the only person in the world who likes that thing doesn't it?

shoplifting = yabu, savvy?

Valpollicella · 18/07/2011 22:33

So your first thought was theft, and not, 'Shall I ask to see if they might see it to me, given they aren't getting any more in and therefore might not need the tester'...?

Tortington · 18/07/2011 22:34

yanbu, i personally can't see anything wrong with stealing when you can't afford somethign. this is why i twatted a six year old and took his crisps and i well fucked over this old geezer until he put petrol in my car.

Yep
First thought was to take it.
I asked the lady about when they would receive more - answer - never
I asked the lady if she could recommned me, show me anything similar as I did not want to spend time there looking for all the eye shadows - she said there was nothing similar.
I took it.
Maybe I was afraid the wouldn't sell to me or give it to me? I don't know..
I just took it

bubbles I was all about the frosted heather. Ooh and the rimmel cover up stick that somehow painted a brown ring around your angry red zits! Love the Rimmel!

I thought you meant you just put some on in your OP, not that you actually took it!

I think pixie has raised a very valid point.

sassyminder · 18/07/2011 22:42

Hi Rock Chick

It is a creamy eye shadow, white (bit of silver) colour.

If anyone can reccomend anything similar, that will be great.

Happydoll, my best friend was the heather one. Of course, it would have looked shit if we had been waring the same!

You are soo right about the concealer stick! And I couldn't leave the house without it! Grin

Bird Shite?

Tchootnika · 18/07/2011 22:45

sassy - how about a streak of Nivea? Colour and moisturiser and the nice smell all in one!

HappyDoll · 18/07/2011 22:45

Hmmm...you want something white, creamy and shimmery to smear on your eyes and you don't care if it gives you infections...does it also work as a hair gel?

frownieface · 18/07/2011 22:46

YABVU and I hope you get caught. Do you realise how much time shop staff waste looking on cctv for shoplifters?

And also the cost for that store member (usually management) to sift through cctv looking for the offence? when that member of staff could be serving people who will actually pay for their items.

And do you also realise that the value of stock that could be sold that is stolen (tester or not) per week could equal a full time member of staff?

Sorry but shop lifters are a complete waste of space.

It also makes me very angry having to sift through cctv because some scummer has stolen something, when I could be helping people who actually want my help and advice.

VinegarTits · 18/07/2011 22:46

Grin @ bird shite

You are brave to admit to stealing....

But sad that you feel other people owe you something....

HalfPastSeven · 18/07/2011 23:01

So your justification as to why it is different from normal shoplifting is:

  1. it is a tester so not something they would have got money for in any event and
2 they have none left for sale and are not getting more in stock so it is not actually serving any purpose as a tester so does not even have any marketing value to them

I sort of see what you are coming from and suspect if you had pointed that out they might have given it to you. But no, you are still BU.

Sl1nkyMalinki · 18/07/2011 23:05

Would love to know what it is. I've never seen any eyeshadow for £15 in Superdrug.

In fact a quick I'm an anal bitch search on their website backs that up rather nicely. eyeshadow search

Perhaps you could have started a post in Style & Beauty asking for help?
