AIBU to shoplift from Superdrug?

sassyminder · 18/07/2011 22:04

I have been using this cream eye shadow for ages. I can find it only on Superdrug.
First it was from one company that does not make it anymore so I had to move on to another more expensive..3x more expensive...anyway I was happily buiyng it always when I neede but could not bring myself to stock it because would feel guilty as the thingy is nearly £15 (it is a small round pot of eye cream shadow!)
Anyway, last time I went to Superdrug just to buy it as I was runing out, and could not find my colour...so I asked the lady who works in the make up session if there was any similar product from other maker and she said, no there wasnt and that maker would also stop making that product and they would not receive NONE anymore...it is all finished.
I could not help myself, I mean..I helped myself with the tester one that was there intacted...opened but new...
Now, it looks like I am the only person in the world who likes that thing doesn't it?

I guess I just panicked they wouldn't get anymore in so I needed that one to keep me going until I find a replacement. I use it on my black spots under my eyes not as a shadow on the lid, that is why it got to be this particular colour.
I am not justifying my wrong doing but yes it was a tester they would no longer need anymore, but it was a ery stupid thing to do. Can't imagine the embarassement if I was caught stealing a tester!
or anything else.
What makes me wonder now, is how some people think it can be ok to steal from Harrods but not Superdrug??? Oh and because I did Superdrug I am automatically a Chav?? Sure it is not the value of the product here or the place you steal from the issue here, but the disonesty and stupidity of the act?
How hipocrate

Pin0t · 19/07/2011 09:59

I saw a hipocrate on safari in 1996.

sassyminder · 19/07/2011 10:04

I have just had a look on Superdrug website and they don't have it online.
The company website don't have it online either. And they deliver in Australia only. And it costs $24 AUD which is converted at £15.8582

I am having problems posting links (Chav's computer maybe)??
So if you don't believe me and want to check go to:
www.bloomcosmetics.com / products / top sellers / sheer colour cream - it is something similar, but not the colour I want

So you have black spots under your eyes and you like to put silvery white eye shadow on them?

CupcakesandTwunting · 19/07/2011 10:25

I used to nick from Superdrug when I was 13-15. I almost got caught lifting a scrunchie once. A scrunchie. The shame.

There is a company online that if you send what you have left of your eyeshadow to them, they will match you an eyeshadow in that colour. I imagine that it would be impossible to prise it out of your hands to be able to post it, though.

LaurieFairyCake · 19/07/2011 10:27

Aren't the black spots under your eyes freckles Hmm?

eh?

CupcakesandTwunting · 19/07/2011 10:31

"Aside from the shoplifting, as I think that's been covered (not that it should have needed to be...) - why did they have a tester of something they couldn't sell, because they didn't have any left? That's what's baffling me"

Actually (there's always one) Guerlain discontinued my favourite eyeshadow in 2009, yet they insist on keeping the tester on the board. They do it just to torment me.

sassyminder · 19/07/2011 10:38

I mean, black eyes, not black spots....
and I meant hypocrates, yes a spelling mistake, oh my God, it is the end of the world!!!
but my english is not so bad since it is not my first language is it?

Why some people do feel so angry and they have the need to put other people down over nothing?
It must be the anonimity who make them feel free to be what they can't be when other people are looking....a bit like ...er ..shoplifiting (?)

in general terms big business could never be straight. but theft is a big issue

CupcakesandTwunting · 19/07/2011 10:41

Babe, you mean hippocrite.

Babe, you also need concealer not white eyeshadow, if you are telling us that you have black circles under your eyes. If you are using white eyeshacow to conceal dark circles, you will be looking like a reverse panda.

Touche eclat, dahling, touche eclat.

TandB · 19/07/2011 10:41

Hipocrate? Wasn't he a Greek philosopher?

A reversing panda? That would be me!

CupcakesandTwunting · 19/07/2011 10:45

Arf!

sassyminder · 19/07/2011 10:45

Well cupcake the explanation was that they did have the product and they did have there in other colours too, they will not receive anymore so I guess they didn't have time to re-arrange / clean the shelves.
I know it was a syupid thing to do that could hae got me in a lot of trouble, my goodness
Should I hand it back?
Go to the police station and make a confession?

It is done and dusted, will neve take the risk again...

But it isnt that I am benefit thieving or claiming expenses with the public money is it?
Would the politicians who steal people's money been automatically classed as Chavs

Some people really need to feel themselves superior them others one way or another don't them?

Is it Constance Carroll? (sighs nostalgicly)

Of course yabu to steal. But you remind me of my lovely nanna who would happily help herself to testers 'so she could make her mind up when she got home'. So I will let you off :)

FilthyDirtyHeathen · 19/07/2011 10:47

YABU to steal. You know it. However, I am equally concerned that you are putting white eyeshadow on your under eye area. There are products specifically made for that purpose. If you like a banging white ring under/around your eye you should go and get some Touche Eclat. If you want a more subtle coverage try the Bobbi Brown or Estee Lauder equivalents. Whatever you choose there will be some better under eye coverage product than a white eye shadow from Superdrug.

ShoutyHamster · 19/07/2011 10:47

You oddbod.

CupcakesandTwunting · 19/07/2011 10:48

Don't take it back fgs. Just use it and enjoy it.

I believed you about the tester still being out, btw.

Still think you need concealer, though.

TandB · 19/07/2011 10:49

Um, in terms of honesty, people who don't steal stuff ARE superior to people who steal stuff. No "needing to feel" about it.

No point having a hissy fit because you stole something and people have called you dishonest. The cap very much fits.

squaresausage · 19/07/2011 10:50

Take it back and say sorry, then you will be at peace within yourself.

CupcakesandTwunting · 19/07/2011 10:52

"Take it back and say sorry, then you will be at peace within yourself."

Am pissing myself at Zen-like peace that will be found at returning stolen tester to Superdrug Grin Grin

I once nicked a massive bar of dairy milk out of tesco's when i was 15. I was in a hostel and was starving. An undercover store detective wearing a manky sheepskin coat, white sandles and a really bad bleached blonde perm caught me.

She just looked like you average shopper.

squaresausage · 19/07/2011 10:55

Sassy is obviously tormented from deep within about her dishonesty. Just hand it in, say sorry, end of!
