to not get why some women feel 'cheated' on when they find porn

Now I know most porn threads turn into a debate and article about why porn is wrong on many levels. I understand that part!!

BUT what I don't understand is why some women feel like there husband has cheated on them when they find porn mags, websites, etc

He's not shagging those in the films/mags whatever, so why do women get obsessed when it comes to their bloke watching porn films/sites or buying mags?

Cocoflower, if all you ever read was a bit of Nancy Friday you know sod all about erotic literature. Nancy Friday's book was an examination of women's fantasies, very groundbreaking at the time, but it was not erotic fiction - hence the fact that she was able to mention some taboo subjects - anything that is non-fiction, or Proper Art/Literature is allowed a bit more leeway than designated erotica. But your post suggested that you had read loads of erotic fiction, so I rather think you are throwing a lot of rubbish around in an effort to demonstrate that anyone who likes something you don't like must be depraved.

Cocoflower · 03/07/2011 10:47

Thank goodness- finally it is recognised Im not an 'expert' as I read one book! Its a label I am happy not to receive.Thank you SCGB.

Thought the world had gone mad then.

SpringchickenGoldBrass · 03/07/2011 11:00

If you're not an expert, why are you pronouncing that all erotic literature is badly written and full of bestiality? nothing wrong with being ignorant, but it's not a good idea to claim knowledge you don't have in order to slag something off.

Cocoflower · 03/07/2011 11:08

When did I say that?! I said my limited experience seemed to contain these themes and that was enough to but it on the backburner.

I make no apologies that dads raping their daughters and sex with the family dog not really being something I find in anyway shape or form erotic. Its disturbing.

Don't throw 'ignorant' at me when you claim NO publisher lets these themes into mainstream work when clearly by your own admission you don't have a clue! Even someone with nowhere as much as your 'experience' is more clued up that they are published so at least you learnt something new.

Crosshair · 03/07/2011 11:14
Hmm
SpringchickenGoldBrass · 03/07/2011 12:16

Cocoflower: 'I stopped looking at erotic lit by 19. It is written so crudely it put me off, hardly sexy and was a bit tiered of dogs and incest creeping into it all.'

This suggests that you had read rather more than one groundbreaking and important book about female sexuality (which you didn't like) which contains a few entries about incest and bestiality among a huge range of other sexual fantasies. My Secret Garden is not marketed or sold as wank material in the first place, it's an academic study. Did you go to the wrong shelf in the bookshop?
When it comes to genre erotic fiction then no UK book publisher will touch material that features illegal acts, and this remains the case.

Cocoflower · 03/07/2011 12:27

Dress it how you like, it was and is published which you were ignorant about.

I think it very much is used as 'wank material' as you elegantly put it (look at IndigoJohns for starters) no matter which shelf you put it on. Do you think people wont get off to it because its on the 'wrong shelf' then?!

Cannot you not just except you made a mistake? It does get published end of.

Really its not that important now is it?

glitterkitty · 03/07/2011 15:52

Cocoflower, you come across as so angry, and rude! And I can't see why TBH. SGB is being very patient IMO.

Are you actually angry or is it just coming across like that?

Cocoflower · 03/07/2011 15:58

Hmm... so strange how SGB always posts such rude, vile and aggressive things to people and if anyone disagrees with her to educate her, no matter how they do they get attacked by with someone suddenly leaping to her defence .... hmmm. Odd.

Crosshair · 03/07/2011 16:11

I admit it.

I am infact SpringchickenGoldBrass, glitterkitty, Indigojohn, floosiemcwoosie and various other aliases, who are seemingly working against you.

I would like to apologise and thank you for educating me in your own unique way.

Cocoflower · 03/07/2011 16:16

Why are you so obsessed with me crosshair? I have never seen you before, and now you here just hanging onto every word I say posting odd messages.

Are you ok?

Crosshair · 03/07/2011 16:32

You complete me?

Cocoflower · 03/07/2011 16:35

Im actually getting very creeped out now.

Im hiding the thread. Its gone beyond disturbing.

Best of luck.

Crosshair · 03/07/2011 16:41

:o

SpringchickenGoldBrass · 03/07/2011 16:54

Cocoflower: books featuring incest, bestiality and indeed ritualistic murders get published. But not as genre erotica. 'Proper' literature in some cases, crime and thrillers in others - oh and don't forget misery memoirs, which I would imagine provide plenty of legal, accessible wank fodder for seriously unpleasant people. But you were implying that genre erotica is full of daddies and doggies, which it isn't.

peppapighastakenovermylife · 03/07/2011 17:00

WTF were you reading Shock?

There is plenty of good quality stuff out there much more easily found that cow porn or whatever...

floosiemcwoosie · 03/07/2011 17:07

Cocoflower has left the building

Offski · 03/07/2011 17:18

I personally have never been bothered by my partners having porn , I do not agree with the way it represents women there are women who are happy to do it and there are some who are forced to for whatever reason and I hate the idea of that , my dh has porn but he rarely bothers with it a d chucked most of it out .
I have never felt cheated on with it and my dh said he would never expect me to look like or act like a pornstar just as I do not expect him to look pike brad Pitt or Scott adkins , it is a fantasy a visual tool .
I do wish there was more aimed towards women , I like looking at handsome men and I like watching a sexy scene but the scens I enjoy the most is a erotic scene in a film where they act like they really fancy each other. Standard porn leaves me cold it is all so fake.
