Anyone who does, IMO, either cannot or will not see the bigger picture. It's too inconvenient, or something.

Can't stand understand people who are willing to reap all the hard-won benefits that feminism has won us, and yet reject the ideology.

Well I get slightly confused as to what constitutes a feminist actually.

So i Wouldn't call myself a feminist

My sister, who is a complete bit of an idiot, used to say I don't know anything about feminism except I am not a feminist. She felt being a feminist would confer her to a life of greasy hair and unshaven legs. She is educated to the level of masters degree, what a waste imo. She really pisses me off. YADNBU.

There's a whole variety of reasons. Some of them logical, some of them not.

Personally I do identify as feminist, though there are certain conversations which make me want to deny any connection and just use the (probably made up) word Equalist instead. Sometimes it just seems easier to say that as there are less other assumptions/judgements made.

I would never call myself a feminist because I do not believe in fighting for rights for women.

Instead, I would call myself an egalitarian as I do believe in fighting for equality for all - whether that is gender, race, age, sexual preferences....

I used to define myself as feminist. I used to work for Women's Aid.

I stopped calling myself feminist when radfems on MN told me I couldn't possibly be feminist because I didn't agree with them.

I am, frankly, too old to give a shit about labels.

Wouldn't hesitate to identify myself as a feminist - would be stupid illogical not to...
But I suppose it's understandable that some people see 'feminism' as a discreet 'political ideology', rather than common sense...

I feel by labelling myself, I should act a certain way and believe certain things that 'proper feminists' (whatever that means) believe.

By current radfem standards, I am a sex-positive feminist; and, to radfems, there isn't much lower than that.

I loathe that radfems claim to know better than women, how those same women really feel.

To be honest I just switch off to anyone who preaches or who seems to think in a one track way.

I've seen the way a few of the 'hardcore' MN feminists have kicked off on threads about porn for example. Some of them were basically telling women how to think and what to believe and getting quite nasty when they weren't agreed with.

The irony of them trying to brow beat women into agreeing with them...the way many men try to brow beat women into agreeing with them was amazing really!
