It may have been distasteful to poke fun at poor language skills in an era where education was the privilege of the few, and misspelt words marked you out as coming from an underprivileged background.

That is not the case today.

Every single person in this country has access to education of a good standard. Yes, even the roughest state schools impart basic skills like reading, writing and arithmetic to a good standard. If you reach adulthood and still can't write like an adult, I will judge you.

Shortening "you" to "u", or "week" to "wk" in a text message is perfectly acceptable. But to use indecipherable spellings when it is not required says something about you.

So all of you judging us for judging others, go right ahead. It won't change my views.

Don't sweat the small stuff. God knows there is plenty to get angry about but really. Spelling and punctuation? The English language will survive, develop and reinvent itself over time. Just as it has been doing since dot. If you really need something to rage against may I suggest. Big business tax evaders? Organised crime? Exploitation of children for sex? God knows there is plenty more!
