Mommy pissy pants

My DH thought it was so funny that instead of my usual towels I picked up tena lady instead by mistake. He now thinks I've a bladder weakness and told DD I'll be wearing nappies soon. Not had a weak bladder since I was pregnant. Silly man.
Luckily I saw the funny of side of it unlike my poor friend who sat there openmouthed.

he sounds like a real charmer

Sqee · 03/06/2011 17:48

Me and my DP and a wonderfully silly sense of humor! There is no harm in it at all. I would prefer to have someone who would find OPs situation funny and have a giggle with me and my children about it rather than a dull old bugger whose idea of hilarious is getting a word wrong in the crossword or being so serious he couldn't laugh about anything. :)

supercal · 03/06/2011 17:58

Sqee, yeah, there's only two types of men, poles apart, nothing in between

katvond · 03/06/2011 18:04

Well my DH is a charmer. He's not a drinker or a womaniser, I get breakfast in bed every weekend, house cleaned if he gets home before me, baths run for me, Sunday lunch cooked and lots of love and silliness and giggles. I have girly weekends away where he looks after DD. Now he may not sound a charmer to you but to me he is. I've the best husband and father I could wish for and he certainly knows how to charm the pissy pants off me ;)

Aww! That's lovely! :) :)

:o :o @ Charming your pants off

PrisonerZero · 03/06/2011 18:12

I thought everyone wet themselves when they were sick? (Seriously, I've always done that)

FrameyMcFrame · 03/06/2011 18:16

Tena lady is the ultimate joke really. But I think you'll find a lot of people on here don't find it that funny.

katvond · 03/06/2011 18:30

I usually wet myself if I've got the fit of the giggles, and I'm not ashamed to say it ;)

It's not quite the same as not being able to leave the house for 18 months, whilst you wait for medical appointments is it? Having numerous internal examinations by all and sundry, having tests where you have to jump up and down to see how much you leak with eletronic probes - with an audience. I really don't think you have a clue. Not forgetting the surgery where you can't lift a potato, let alone your baby, or a good 6 weeks - that's if it goes well. If it doesn't, you end up with a catheter bag for days/weeks/months making you even more housebound. Hilarious.

usualsuspect · 03/06/2011 20:09

Yuk at this thread

usualsuspect · 03/06/2011 20:10

Not yuk at incontinence ...but at the taking the mickey because its oh so hilarious

mum765 · 03/06/2011 20:14

Yes, I wonder what op's views are on cancer or say Chrohn's disease. No doubt she'd laugh at herself through those as well.

TheHumanCatapult · 03/06/2011 20:20

I have bladder and bowel continenace problems and even i smiled at this and I have advantage over Ladies in pubs /clubs/festivals as I do not have to queue and use a toilet .Oh and I can pee Straight into a bucket(self cath) to who needs a shewee

sometimes something light hearted joke like this, can lead on to honest discussion can make people realise it is not a dirty secret they need to hide and make people aware that it is not just them that has problems

usualsuspect · 03/06/2011 20:21

The thread title is awful

mum765 · 03/06/2011 20:24

Human - I just worry that the fact that people are having a good old laugh about people with these problems deters people from seeking help. And I agree, the thread title is appalling.

TheHumanCatapult · 03/06/2011 20:24

Look if nothing else Op has got us all talking about it and thinking about it and maybe if one person realises that they are not alone with having bladder issues that is a good thing .

mum765

Not sure what sort of bladder problems you have but there is other options than wearing a catheter Bag .You can learn to self cath which is lot better and neater and less risk of UTI and more descrete .There is no reason to feel you have to stay in .Know it is scarey facing it and thought of accidents while out either bladder or soiling are hard and worrying but it gets easier.

TheHumanCatapult · 03/06/2011 20:27

How often do you see a post about incontienace and people discussing it

ok maybe the thread title is a bit much and yes anyone used that tone to my face .Then I am likely to run their toes over extra hard .

mum765 · 03/06/2011 20:28

Do you really think the op's views are likely to encourage people to seek treatment? I don't.

mum765 · 03/06/2011 20:31

There's a sensitive thread on general health. These views are in no way positive.

katvond · 03/06/2011 20:36

Anyone would think I'd never suffered with it, which I did, and sometimes do occasionally, I'm laughing at myself for FFS not anyone else.
No I don't laugh at people with cancer I think who said that should hang their head in shame. Had skin cancer so no not funny and DM as had lung cancer too.
But we did make light of it to make US feel better. It's times like that when laughter helps, helped me and my mom right to the end. We laughed rather than cried so how dare you say that to me. Laughter got me through the worse times. You don't know me so don't comment that you think I'm awful and I'd take the piss out of cancer sufferers

my best friend had the op 5 yrs ago , she said its the best thing she did ,
she cansneeze#
laugh
giggle
and be on top in sex .
life is fab now she says.
going to get it done .x

TheHumanCatapult · 03/06/2011 20:39

No maybe not from the thread title

But maybe someone clicking on here to read or to disagree and has not wanted to admit to it be that becuas ethey are emabarrsed or scared .

Well it has certianly opened up a discussion about it in a main area where it may be seen and women and men as well will be relieved to see other people admitting to it and maybe they now realise they are not alone and some may go read up about it or go look at that read .

Senstive threads are good but sometime raising the profile of incontinence issues how ever it is started is no bad thing. Not everyone will look in health

katvond · 03/06/2011 20:39

So mum765 hang your head in shame.
I laugh at conditions that affect me. Bladder weakness in one so rather than feel ashamed about it I laugh and make light of it, same as I did when I had skin cancer. I laughed rather than cry, it's me coping and how my family and DH cope around me, we make light of it.

OP posts:
TheHumanCatapult · 03/06/2011 20:40

and yes sometimes You have to laugh hence about me saying that who needs a she wee to pee with aim .

libbylobs · 03/06/2011 20:41

totally agree well said human.x
