Oh my it kicked off when I disappeared, almost gutted
Just some things I want to say, for the record
I'm glad the thread got started and believe that OP wasn't out to intentionally offend.
I got to a point where I was virtually housebound apart from going to work, couldn't go out unless I knew where there were toilets and couldn't stray far from them. It's only been the past month or two where I've started being able to relax and take control of it. I didn't tell anybody and only my boyfriend knew about it, it nearly destroyed our relationship. (Which ended in the end anyway, bladder problems contributing).
Being able to laugh about it makes it easier to handle as I said before, also, knowing that there is another person my own age makes it easier to deal with, and I wouldn't have discovered that if this thread hadn't been started.
Being 22 with incontinence problems and no reason for them is hell imo. None of your friends understand, your doctors don't take you seriously no matter how many times you go begging to be seen by a specialist and social lives become non-existant because you can't drink anything but water and can't get a taxi home at the end of the night for fear you'll piss yourself in the back of it. Your sex life also suffers and sex is something I want to do without worry!
And as the others have said, posting on this part of the forum has raised awareness for incontinence, more so than posting in Health would.
In regards to sympathetic threads about incontinence, they are good, but lighthearted jokey ones are also good for some people. It's all about how the individual copes with things, not everybody with that problem as we all do things differently.
Human: Thank you for posting, your attitude is inspiring :) Thank you for posting :)
