Mommy pissy pants

My DH thought it was so funny that instead of my usual towels I picked up tena lady instead by mistake. He now thinks I've a bladder weakness and told DD I'll be wearing nappies soon. Not had a weak bladder since I was pregnant. Silly man.
Luckily I saw the funny of side of it unlike my poor friend who sat there openmouthed.

I see, So YOU are offended that OPs' DH found the situation funny and jokingly said to HER (not you or anyone else who suffers with incontinence) she would have to wear nappies soon. I see well, I personally have no idea why and can't imagine how you watch tv, listen to the radio, read books and magazines and browse the internet you must be offended constantly Confused

Anyway, I think this has been done to death now! We shall just have to agree to disagree! I'm off to bed.

BooyHoo · 03/06/2011 00:33

i am offended that OP posted it on a forum where tehre are people who suffer from thsi condition and that she titled it 'pissy pants'

it is like saying me and DH find your condition funny and thsi is what we call sufferers liek you.

QueeferSutherland · 03/06/2011 00:35

I suffer from stress incontinence. I have to put a towel down if I am being sick.Sad

I laughed out loud at the OP though.

Katvond wasn't laughing at people with the condition, was she?

Sqee · 03/06/2011 00:41

Well I didn't get that at all from OP.

I guess that's just life tho. Some people can accept an innocent thread, take it for face value and see it was intended to engage others in friendly banter.

Some people look into things far too deeply and find ways to take it personally.

supercal · 03/06/2011 00:44

And some people just have a different sense of humour from others.

And most MN users know that if you want to engage others in friendly banter, you don't place your post in AIBU.

BooyHoo · 03/06/2011 00:46

le'sigh just doesn't sound right in your frankie accent.

Sqee · 03/06/2011 00:52

I'm so offended! How utterly inconsiderate of you!

:o :o

What on earth is a frankie accent?

BooyHoo · 03/06/2011 00:53

yeah yeah, you know rightly what it is.

Sqee · 03/06/2011 00:56

I honestly do not.

I got from the OP that she thought it was hilarious that her husband might have thought she needed tena lady.

There's been a bit of retrospective emphasizing how when she was pregnant she did need them and so really she's just one of the 'tena using gang', so she was laughing at herself really, but I'm not really convinced that was how it was meant at the start, sorry.

I got the impression far more that she sees herself clearly as someone who doesn't need tena lady and that that's why it was so hilarious that her husband got her them by mistake.

So although 'offended' may not be the right word, I do know that if I knew the OP IRL I wouldn't be rushing to confide in her if I was having any kind of incontinence problem!

I'd be looking for friends who found the idea quite normal and unremarkable (and then I'd joke about it with them, privately). To be honest, I would avoid like the plague people who thought it was funny that someone had bought tena lady for them by mistake.

purplepidjin · 03/06/2011 07:12

Why is everyone spending a fortune on this stuff anyway? Just request a continence assessment from your GP and they'll send the District Nurse round!

Hmm at the seriousness with which people are taking this rightly-placed AIBU. Although I think we've established that opinion is split between BO BU and NBO NBU

katvond · 03/06/2011 09:20

So the rules say I can't post in AIBU then? Most people post in here as it gets more traffic. As you'll see by reading some threads on AIBU they are not all serious.
It was funny, it still is and I will carry on laughing at it. Those that are offended please please please take a look at yourselves, your clearly lacking in having fun :)

OP posts:
katvond · 03/06/2011 09:22

And if a time comes when I will really need Tena lady I will be laughing at myself and not being serious.

OP posts:
AmazingBouncingFerret · 03/06/2011 09:34

I wouldnt be laughing, fucking expensive stuff to use day in day out and the district nurse never orders the right ones.

InPraiseOfBacchus · 03/06/2011 11:36

I'm furious when I'm trying to buy sanitary products. The names they give to the damned things are so 'discreet' that I don't know what I'm buying half the time! Maxi-wing triple body-shape MYSTERY PADS!

worraliberty · 03/06/2011 11:42

Blimey, who'd have thought such a light hearted thread would take such an odd turn!

FWIW I found the OP very funny Grin

BooyHoo · 03/06/2011 12:33

i reallyobject to being told that the way i feel about something is wrong and i should 'take a look at' myself.

who the hell are you OP to tell me that what i am feeling is wrong? jsut because you didn't find something offensive doesn't mean those that do are wrong. it is differing opinions. neither is the 'right' or 'wrong' opinion. so no i will not take a look at myself i am quite comfortable with how i feel and will not start taking teh piss out of other people's conditions just to make you feel better about teh fact that you do.

mum765 · 03/06/2011 12:33

Sorry don't get it. How is mocking a medical condition funny? I'm with the offended.

katvond · 03/06/2011 14:36

To all those that say I'm mocking a medical condition, I mocked condition that I too suffered with, quite badly too. Next time I'll collapse in floods of tears at the thought of it.

OP posts:
supercal · 03/06/2011 14:37

OP, you're welcome to post where you like of course.

Just that although there are more light-hearted posts in AIBU these days, you are still asking the Q 'AIBU' and therefore have to be prepared for people to say you are, and to disagree with your POV.

Could you do us all a favour though? It wasn't me who was arguing about this, but can you clarify whether your DP did in fact call you 'Mommy Pissy Pants' or whether it's a term you came up with yourself for the thread title.

libbylobs · 03/06/2011 14:55

i.d love to laugh but i cant it makes me wee oooo not fare.x

AnyFuleKno · 03/06/2011 16:44

I'm not offended, I just found the subject utterly mundane. And why would you choose to title it 'mommy pissy pants'? Maybe I'm getting old...

AmazingBouncingFerret · 03/06/2011 16:50

I want to like AnyFule's comment. I wasnt offended but I didnt find the OP rip roaringly hilarious either. Grin

katvond · 03/06/2011 16:56

Because that's what my DH said thats why I named it "mommy pissy pants"
