Mommy pissy pants

My DH thought it was so funny that instead of my usual towels I picked up tena lady instead by mistake. He now thinks I've a bladder weakness and told DD I'll be wearing nappies soon. Not had a weak bladder since I was pregnant. Silly man.
Luckily I saw the funny of side of it unlike my poor friend who sat there openmouthed.

You know what supercal..... I believe you , im sure he would Hmm once you had told him too

fit2drop · 02/06/2011 22:38

to Blush

confuseddotcodotuk · 02/06/2011 22:38

I use tena's for their intended purpose. I found the OP funny. They can be comfy, I use the ultra big ones and they can add bulk 'down there' when you sit down and look a bit odd if I'm honest! Comfier than towels though so bonus Grin

Sqee · 02/06/2011 22:43

At least I have a humour radar

I cannot believe a thread titled "Mommy pissy pants" has gotten so serious! Very odd. Oh well I guess this is what mumsnet is all about (Heated discussions about incontinence pads)

AnyFuleKno · 02/06/2011 22:47

Why would you bother posting this?

Poppyella · 02/06/2011 22:49

Because it's quite funny!! I laughed. Alot. Lighten up you lot, you are totally over reacting to a bit of light hearted banter.

Oh no sorry, don't laugh, you may just piss your pants!!!!!!!

FFS

SquirtedPerfumeUpNoseInBoots · 02/06/2011 22:50

Supercal, all fun in your house then. Honestly, some things aren't worth stressing over.

BooyHoo · 02/06/2011 22:56

ok so a man makes fun of his child's mother (to that child) for having a bladder weakness by saying she'll be wearing nappies soon and that is funny?

would he encourage her to call a teen with acne 'pizza face'?
what about someone who was going bald? does he regularly trot out teh phrase 'chrome dome'?

it isn't funny at all. it's immature and just because it may not have humiliated you, it may well have humiliated otehrs to see this OP particularly with that thread title.

confuseddotcodotuk · 02/06/2011 22:58

Sqee: I'm 22 as well, it's almost unheard of for young people to have it and it's a very taboo subject when they do! Making light of it does make it easier to deal with!

I'm brutally honest with certain people about it, went on a date last night and we were making jokes about it all night as I kept having to pop to the loo between places! Better than being sour about it and letting it ruin your night!

katvond · 02/06/2011 23:00

Fit2drop your sooooo bad but me likey :)

I will continue taking the piss, smiling and laughing until I have breath in my body. Me for one won't be boring. Laughing is the best medicine.

Oh dear, I'm glad I just joined and admitted I did the same recently and never started this thread.

When I was PG I had a serious kidney infection and for some reason couldn't tell when my bladder was full for a few days - just a sudden need to pee then flood gates opening. I used the pants which stretched over my pg belly! My DP made some joke about thinking we'd be stocking up on nappies for LO not me. I laughed it was funny and laughing made me happy instead of stressing over the situation. I didn't regain full continence until he was 4 months and I had an ECS. I just wore tena pads then.

Agree with confused they are uncomfy but will mention the ASDA assures I mistakenly bought are lovely and cottony for anyone who needs a product.

bonkers20 · 02/06/2011 23:03

Ladies, do your pelvic floor exercises! I know there are many woman with continence problems, but for the vast majority of us there is no reason to ever need Tena lady. We should not just accept that long term bladder weakness is part and parcel of having children.

Poppyella · 02/06/2011 23:03

Perhaps nobody took it as literally as some of you are doing. It was a joke.

JOKE

BANTER

Like I said - lighten up!!!!!!!!!

youarekidding · 02/06/2011 23:04

And I was only 23 when pg so quite young too.

katvond · 02/06/2011 23:09

That's all it was Banter. Me and DH are buggers for this, we laugh and piss take all the time, if that's childish then I'm glad, I'd rather be that then boring and serious. Sorry is someone was offended but come on, I've heard far worse.

confuseddotcodotuk · 02/06/2011 23:16

bonkers: pelvic floor exercises don't work for everybody with bladder problems Hmm

Though they have been useful for improving my sex life Wink

Sqee · 02/06/2011 23:30

Here! Here! confused It's nice to see a young women like myself with such a good attitude towards the subject! I can't imagine being sulky about it. What a horrible life that would be!

I've tried pelvic floor exercises too with no luck! There are actually machines you can buy now to do them for you. Never tried one tho.

Sqee · 02/06/2011 23:39

Also katvond You really shouldn't have to apologize or explain your DHs' sense of humor. You did nothing wrong IMO. I'm just sorry that a light hearted thread was deemed offensive and turned into an argument. It was nothing Compared to some of the threads I have read in AIBU.

BooyHoo · 02/06/2011 23:46

when you offend people you should have to apologise.

supercal · 02/06/2011 23:49

Sqee, the whole blinking point of AIBU is to have an argument!
Albeit one where no personal attacks are allowed Wink

The whole point of the thread was the OP asking if it was funny precisely because her friend in RL didn't think it was funny.

confuseddotcodotuk · 02/06/2011 23:52

You've got to have a good attitude towards it or it just ruins everything in the end! If you don't laugh you cry and all that jazz.

I haven't had kids yet so my pelvic floor muscles haven't been screwed over by that luckily, my bladder problem is as much psychological as it is physical unfortunately though.

I've only just discovered that positive mental attitude makes it easier to deal with Blush That and talking about it. It's something that needs mentioning and awareness and if it means making jokes about it every now and then, then so be it.

confuseddotcodotuk · 02/06/2011 23:58

booy: If we apologised every time we offended somebody then we'd spend our lives apologising.

I find it ironic that the people on here who actually have admitted to having bladder problems find it quite funny, whilst it's others who are taking offence on behalf of those with bladder problems

BooyHoo · 03/06/2011 00:06

and what if someone's condition is so severe that they really can't laugh about it? what if someone poked fun at them once and tehy just can't get past that? should tehy just tolerate the 'banter' because otehr people can laugh at themselves? some people find it offensive and some dont. just because soem dont, doesn't mean those taht do are wrong.

Sqee · 03/06/2011 00:10

I'm sorry but there is a difference between someone being offended accidentally (which always warrants an apology IMO) and someone taking something wrong way/misunderstanding what that person meant and then attacking that persons/families moral judgment. Also I've never thought of AIBU a place to go to for a good argument. Advice, debate and a laugh maybe but not arguments.

As someone who (going by what people opposed to this thread) should be offended by it I have actually come out of it with a good outlook on my condition and it's already started some great conversations and brought awareness for young people suffering with incontinence which I think is brilliant!

BooyHoo · 03/06/2011 00:14

sqee first of all, everyone knows AIBU is where you go if you want to kick off a ruck.

secondly, i haven't misunderstood what teh OP meant at all. i understand it completely which is why i find it offensive.
