My DH thought it was so funny that instead of my usual towels I picked up tena lady instead by mistake. He now thinks I've a bladder weakness and told DD I'll be wearing nappies soon. Not had a weak bladder since I was pregnant. Silly man.
Luckily I saw the funny of side of it unlike my poor friend who sat there openmouthed.

OP posts:

sqee are you still on mid-term break?

Sqee · 02/06/2011 22:09

Yes yes! I'm a sexist twat (You do know that is another name for a vagina don't you? :) )

"Knit a noodle" :o :o!!

BooyHoo · 02/06/2011 22:11

georgimama i am totally with you.

people poking fun is what makes people with incontinence feel embarassed and less likely to seek help when they need it.

I agree. It's nasty, like that horrible sketch on Little Britain.

fit2drop · 02/06/2011 22:14

BooyHoo , actually OP has already explained that she was taking the piss out of herself for picking up the wrong product....

is it Friday night per chance ....

millie30 · 02/06/2011 22:15

I've had bladder problems since I had my DS. I find it quite distressing, not remotely funny. Each to their own I guess.

purplepidjin · 02/06/2011 22:16

I bought my mum a pack of Tena Lady as part of her 60th birthday present.

She opened them in the middle of the restaurant, then nearly used one because she was laughing so hard.

I haven't needed one yet myself but frequently change those of others. If I didn't laugh with those people, I wouldn't be treating them with the respect they deserve as human beings, continence aid needed or not.

supercal · 02/06/2011 22:17

I didn't say I'd be furious, so no need for you to be shocked fit2drop.
I just don't think it's funny or appropriate to mock someone's sanitary towels in front of their children.

fit2drop · 02/06/2011 22:18

ive had a bladder problem for almost 10 years

OP was NOT taking the mickey out of that and no one called anyone pissy pants...thats just OP title of thread...

Grin @ Squee for being a twat vagina

BooyHoo · 02/06/2011 22:18

actually fit2drop i was referring to OP's DH and teh use of the phrase 'pissy pants'. that is making fun of people with incontinence. nobody actually chooses to wet themselves. to label them as pissy pants even as a 'joke' is mean and humiliating for sufferers.

Sqee · 02/06/2011 22:19

No sadly i'm not on mid term! but I do suffer with incontinence and have done since the birth of my son 3 years ago! (It was a very difficult birth) I personally would hate it if people tip toed around the situation! I'm 22 years old and as incontinence is normally associated with older women I would think making light of it would be an easier way to bring up the subject to younger people!

DP and I have lots of fun making jokes about it! When I say i'm going to wet myself laughing I mean it! :o

fit2drop · 02/06/2011 22:22

supercal I appologise for mis-quoting , i really thought I had read the word "furious"

hower I still think its a massive over reaction,

supercal · 02/06/2011 22:23

A massive over reaction? What like you personally insulting me by saying I'm not funny after you mis-read my post?

SquirtedPerfumeUpNoseInBoots · 02/06/2011 22:27

Maybe I will choose to be all offended that the saying from Belfast is ridiculed. This is a classic example of spoiling the craic.

Seriously, you need to lighten up. OP wasn't making light of a medical condition! I bet some of you laugh when jokes are made about not being able to hear well, or are some things more equal than others?

I would have seen the funny side too, of picking up something by mistake. No big deal, surely?

fit2drop · 02/06/2011 22:28

BooyHoo Georgimama referred to " men calling women mommy pissy pants"

No where on here has it been said that a man called a woman that....

just a joking reference to nappies which OP agreed was "Hmm silly.

BooyHoo · 02/06/2011 22:29

it's in the bloody title fit2drop!! if it isn't a reference to people with incontinence then what the hell is it?

fit2drop · 02/06/2011 22:31

I may have misread your post, I certainly did not mis read the content being you would have beenHmm at your husband...
so yeah my after comment still stands if that is seriously what you would get Hmm about I dread to think what you would do to the poor guy when serious shit hits the fan in your house.

SquirtedPerfumeUpNoseInBoots · 02/06/2011 22:32

Booyhoo, it's a joke. Simple.

BooyHoo · 02/06/2011 22:33

an unfunny one. simple.

Sqee · 02/06/2011 22:34

To you maybe. I found it funny. :)

SquirtedPerfumeUpNoseInBoots · 02/06/2011 22:34

So, don't laugh and move on. Easy enough. Chill.

fit2drop · 02/06/2011 22:34

BooyHoo it may say it in the BLOODY TITLE

but

GEORGIMAMA SAID A MAN CALLING A WOMAN MOMMYPISSYPANTS

AND THAT DIDNT BLOODY HAPPEN
now did it

OP said mommy pissy pants.... NOT A BLOODY FELLA

FFS

supercal · 02/06/2011 22:35

You don't have to worry about my husband, fit2drop, believe me. He would have found this joke infantile too.

BooyHoo · 02/06/2011 22:37

i didn't say a man did! i said it was in the title.

OP posts about incontinence pads and uses the phrase pissy pants in the title. that is making fun out of something taht many peple are really self conscious about.

sqee finds tampon jokes funny so i am not really surprised that this is on her humour radar.
