So she comes round and does the sweep and then takes her gloves off and goes into the kitchen to, I assume, put them in the bin.

She said "oh I cant see your bin so I'll just leave them here..."

Here, as I discovered after she left, was the top shelf/basket of my dishwasher that i was halfway through loading when she arrived. No, I am not joking, yes, she really did leave gloves that had been inside my vagina IN my dishwasher.

AIBU to make a complaint about her through PALS? Especially as this comes on the back of several other issues including her not returning urgent calls, not turning up for appointments and getting my notes wrong.

I have a friend who is a local HV and she says that this particular MW is v unpopular amongst them too and they want someone to make a complaint as otherwise nothing will change.

YABU (unless you have an STD you aren't telling us about) your vagina is a reasonably sterile environment that your baby passes through, not some germ infested swamp.

annoyingdevil · 02/06/2011 11:01

Oh congratulations, didn't read thread properly. Guess the 'vagina gloves ' thing is long since forgotten

ILoveYouToo · 02/06/2011 11:05

YABU and a bit ridiculous, I'm afraid.

Make sure your baby goes through a sterilising process before you kiss him/her, won't you.....

Pandemoniaa · 02/06/2011 11:07

Cripes! You do know, don't you, that your baby is going to come out of your fearful, germy growler?

hugeleyoutnumbered · 02/06/2011 11:08

OP i agree this was bad practice and unhygenic, I would be bloody furious if she had done that at my house, as for the posters making crass comments about your vagina treat them with the contempt they derserve. would they be happy with a wet diaper popped in their dish washer? after all its about to be sterilised Confused.

I personaly wouldn't complain but I would pull her up next time you see her

Flippingebay · 02/06/2011 11:13

Congratulations, I was going to reply on the original question but quite frankly I don't suppose you give a 'flying' about gloves and dishwashers right now :o

jasminetom · 02/06/2011 11:15

I completely agree that this is unreasonable and unprofessional. I was a district nurse for a few years and have never experienced anyone leaving their contaminated waste in someone's house unbagged. Why is everyone being so horrible to you? If you don't feel comfortable with her, do not allow her to treat you. At the end of the day this is a very important time for you and she is supposed to be reassuring and professional. By all means mention it to her next time you see her but in my experience people can be very defensive in these situations and you shouldn't have to deal with her shit. Good luck with the baby and all the very best.

WooHoo! COngrats on the arrival of mini bogey! Bet sticky vicky didn't pop 6 of those out! X

StayingDavidTennantsGirl · 07/06/2011 10:53

By any chance, did this midwife come back to do any of your postnatal care, Bogeyface? And if so, did you ask her about putting the used gloves in the dishwasher? I wouldn't have been able to resist!

Lilithmoon · 02/08/2012 12:52

Woohoo lovely baby news :)

rainydaysarebad · 02/08/2012 13:04

That baby is over one years old Grin

WelshMaenad · 02/08/2012 13:07

I think it's minging, personally! I had a mw dry her hands on my tea towel after handing a urine specimen if it makes you feel any better?

DizzyKipper · 02/08/2012 13:15

YANBU to have found it disgusting, I would have too, and would also be questioning why she couldn't have just ASKED me where the bin was rather than leaving dirty gloves about. I've read a few of the replies and although 'technically' I can understand that this may have been the more hygienic thing to do as opposed to leaving them on the counter, but you can just go ahead and call me irrational, I still would've preferred them on the counter rather than in my dishwasher. Although mostly I just think it couldn't have been that hard or taken up too much of her time for her to have just asked you where the bin was! This would also have meant she'd know for next time and not be continually leaving gloves lying around on every visit.

I'm a care worker (but I'm sure MWs will get similar training in health and hygiene practices) and leaving my used gloves somewhere rather than disposing of them correctly would be a big no no, she should know better and should have taken the time. For this I don't actually think you'd be unreasonable to make a complaint either.

Margerykemp · 02/08/2012 13:16

I thought I recognised this old thread!

DizzyKipper · 02/08/2012 13:16

Oh and congratulations (just realised from other posts) Grin

Viviennemary · 02/08/2012 13:20

Gloves in a dishwasher. Is she nuts. I'd ask her why she put gloves in a dishwasher. She should have asked you for a plastic bag.

Moominsarescary · 02/08/2012 13:20

What's with all the zombie threads?

StealthPolarBear · 02/08/2012 13:21

BABY PROBABLY WALKING NOW

oldraver · 02/08/2012 13:22

How the fuck do people find these old threads... I though replying on a Tuesday to one started Friday was a bit late Grin

StealthPolarBear · 02/08/2012 13:22

wonder if they've replaced the dishwasher

RobotHamster · 02/08/2012 13:25

ZOMBIE THREAD

DuelingFanjo · 02/08/2012 13:29

I love these zombie threads, It means I can waste 20 minutes searching the bumper's posts and working out what kind of troll they might be.

DizzyKipper · 02/08/2012 13:48

Yeah I really need to check the date of the first post before ever replying, it never occurs to me some one has resurrected an old thread when I'm browsing. Still, lovely to be given an opportunity to be judgy about fanjo juice gloves in dishwasher - don't get this kind of drama amongst people I know.

eurochick · 02/08/2012 13:52

Zombie thread!

oldraver · 02/08/2012 13:55

Dizzy.... I hear some people wash things other than dishes vibrators in the dishwasher. Though I assume they have washed off the fanjo juice
