Just being curious, really. We don't get too many (eg) xxFreddiesMummyxx's on here, which I have seen on other forums. And so far, not noticed any Lucy R(3104703) a la Netmums. So, would anyone like to share their name choosing stories?

Mines taken (rather unimaginatively) from a song title, Don't Call Me Peanut by Bayside.

Because I do and am. Just look at my profile. Used to use my firstname but was too unique to post on interesting threads.

My husband is South African and called DS1 "Boetie" as a baby which means little brother in Afrikaans. This became DS1's nickname "Booty". I added the Mum before I was aware that anything Mum, Mummy, etc is a bit naff on MN... But can't be bothered to name change [am also not witty enough to think up another cleverer name]

It's my nickname, and the intial of my surname.

Mine is after Betty Draper from Mad Men. The character wears the most beautiful 1950s dresses and I just love them. I just love 50s style, so sexy and feminine. I don't want to be Betty Draper (life of dull domesticity and a philandering husband) but would like to live in her wardrobe amongst all the lovely dresses.

Mine is my 'real' nickname.

My name's Michelle, but I've been Shelly to friends and some family for almost as long as I can remember.

Some very close friends have called me ShellyBobs for a long time, but I had a boob job a few years ago and they cheekily modified it to ShellyBoobs. I can assure you the 'boobs' bit wouldn't be obvious if you met me though; they ain't massive! Grin

I love the programme Being Human (geek), the term stuck in my head and when changing my name I thought it was as good a new one as any. It also conjures up images of the rather beautiful Aidan Turner, which isn't a bad thing.

A stupid childhood rhyme at school (north east) used to take someones first name (say Katie) as follows

Katie bum batie stickle atie fi fatie" fi fatie stickle atie* that's how you spell Katie

In my case unfortunately this resulted in the rhyme starting with Sarah Bum Barer Blush

I don't. Very often.

my name is from wizard of oz but no idea why - it used to be hambuttie cos thats what i was eating at the time i signed up.

Someone, Mamazon I think, had thread about shaving her minge (to save money on waxing perhaps?) and I was secondarily traumatised by idea of how itchy it would be when it grew back. Had no idea people would actually shave instead of waxing or using creams, would rather be furry than itchy.

Nyx had gone, but never seen it used Sad (goddess of the night).

Arion in Greek mythology was rescued by dolphins, I swam with dolphins when I was young, free and single, a few years decade or so ago now!

Courtesy of W.B Yeats.

Wine comes in at the mouth
And love comes in at the eye;
That's all we shall know for truth
Before we grow old and die.
I lift the glass to my mouth,
I look at you, and I sigh.

< I love Yeats. I also love a bottle glass or two of the red stuff...Wine> Grin
