Just being curious, really. We don't get too many (eg) xxFreddiesMummyxx's on here, which I have seen on other forums. And so far, not noticed any Lucy R(3104703) a la Netmums. So, would anyone like to share their name choosing stories?

Mines taken (rather unimaginatively) from a song title, Don't Call Me Peanut by Bayside.

Got mine from my parents!

QueenCatherine · 31/05/2011 22:04

Hmmm...let me think...

SnuffleTurtle153 · 31/05/2011 22:26

My DS snuffled me when he was first laid on my chest, he's nearly 12 weeks now and still snuffles into me when he wants a cuddle. And turtle because when he purses his mouth he looks like a little turtle, and it was the first thing DH said when he saw him! The number part should be obvious!

Primalscream · 31/05/2011 22:30

Brilliant book

HorseyGirl1 · 31/05/2011 22:34

My Dad's nickname for me years ago when he wanted me to do something for his horses, feeding, mucking out etc. 'Oh you're a wee horsey girl, you could just....' whatever. I haven't ridden for about 20 years but it reminds me of my Dad calling me Wee Horsey Girl! Hope to have my own wee horsey girl or boy some day too. xx

learningtofly · 31/05/2011 22:35

A Tom Petty song title

devonshiredumpling · 31/05/2011 22:39

it was my dads nickname for me

MissMilliment · 31/05/2011 22:39

Used to be Aniyan which comes from Sanskrit 'Anor aniyan' meaning 'the smallest of the small' because I'm a shortarse and Aniyan is a bit like my real name.
Now I'm named after one of my favourite literary characters - from Elizabeth Jane Howard's Cazalet Chronicles.

hiddenhome · 31/05/2011 22:44

My six year old ds2 made this name up for his Club Penguin account. I thought it was very 'zen' and nicked it to use on here.

Frogsandsnails · 31/05/2011 22:52

In honour of my little lad, because thats what little boys are made of! :)

FebreezeYourJeans · 31/05/2011 22:58

I got it from a S&B thread about how often we wash our jeans (we know how to live on S&B) One MN said (I paraphrase) pants to washing them, just give them a blast of febreeze. It made me grin. Grin

It's the shortening of the county I live in. Lack of imagination, me? never!

FourFingeredKitkat · 31/05/2011 23:09

My current name, I was eating a two fingered one and was thinking "I wish this were a ... instead" !

Birdsgottafly · 01/06/2011 00:18

Mine is the second line from the song "Carn't help loving that man of mine", from the film 'Show Boat'. I don't care how old it is, i love everthing about the film, especially Ava Gardner (who sings it).

MrsTerryPratchett · 01/06/2011 01:05

I LOVE HIM. Sometimes wonder if it isn't very feminist.

Mishtabel · 01/06/2011 05:07

Mine's an acronym of my DD's names (first 2-3 letters of each of their names anyway)

DontCallMePeanut I'm so glad to know the meaning of your name - I've often wondered if you may be someone else I know on MN that has 'peanut' in their name and whose name subsequently gets shortened to Peanut. I thought she may have been trying to tell us something :)

I always read these threads hoping to see how ThatWillDoPig (or Thatlldopig) got her name. I had that name on another forum, which is a phrase from Babe and, for me, summed up how I felt after having my last child. It was a kind of "Good job, well done, that's enough now". Am wondering if MN ThatWillDoPig had the same sort of meaning behind her name.

alexpolismum · 01/06/2011 06:52

Ooh, I rather like the thought of being a detective! I bet they get paid better than me, too!

I always thought of expatinscotland as being tanned, perhaps with a Hispanic look, wearing a long scarf battling the wind outside a grey stone house in a Scottish village.

ThePathanKhansWoman · 01/06/2011 16:02

He he alexpolis glad i'm not the only one who indulges in flights of fancy!

DontCallMePeanut · 01/06/2011 17:16

Haha, glad I could help, Mishtabel...

I was thinking Thatwilldopig (sorry if that's not the correct spelling) was a reference to Babe? (Dick King-Smith children's story/film about a pig that herded sheep) So, I do suspect she's another fan of the book/film. I can't remember if Farmer Hoggett said it in the damn book, for the life of me...
