That is a wicked thing do do and David Cameron beeds to apologise or more likely get one of his flunkies to say SORRY

This is a nice cage....40 per cent of appeals to the original decisions are said to be allowed . Does that suggest dodgy predetermined first decisions? Welcome your answer, nicecage and ALPINE PONY

'tHANK YOU ALIce Liddell perhaps the pro cameron posters would care to politely respond to your first hand account'

See my previous post for details, Scousy.

I'd also like to point out that I'm NOT a tory, never have been, never will be. I don't support any of the main parties. I also don't support your regular, seemingly inane rants against Cameron whilst praising the hell out of the Labour party who did little for this country except land us with huge debts we can't service.

uSUAL SUSPECT....Yes, it has turned into a benefit bashing site....but rweality is creeping in. There are first hand accounts now. Which cameron supporting posters will wish to comment on.. GThe charge is that Cameron is creating a Scrounger labelling charge against vulnerable people for vote catching reasons.Powerful govt abusing people in wheelchairs.

Course, Scousy, that's the game these days.

We've had nice DWP people on here being helpful, explaining the correct phrases to use on forms. Not because the information being conveyed is different - certainly not because of fraud - but because the back offices play buzz-word bingo.

Describe it this way, you'll get money; describe it that way, you won't.

Makes you wonder what their jobs are, cos I would have thought it was interpreting the words of the inexpert public in order to understand their level of disability. If its scoring buzz words and refusing claims which don't have the right ones, a computer could do that.

Not knocking the helpful DWP people here at all. It's just... strange.

ScousyFogarty · 29/05/2011 14:00

GiddyPickles. Good assessment. What do you do ? If you are a hard nosed rich tory govt you get unpricipalled and start creating a public SCROUNGER baiting posse. (Which was how the London Marchers saw it) tORY POLITICIAN KNOW PRECISELY WHAT TEIR DUBIOUS GAME IS "ATTACK THE POOR, BECAUSE THE RICH HAVE LAWYERS AND ACCOUNTANTS" ( Its not rocket science, its politics)

Sorry, I'm bowing out here.

I'll be ignoring your future rants too, Scousy.

You seemingly ignore any posts you don't agree with and just make the same points over and over again.

It's very tedious.

chubsasaurus · 29/05/2011 14:07

YABU

Very.

And Teresa May did not call the Tories the 'nasty party' it was a misquotation when she actually said that we are seen as the 'nasty party', not are, and this is not true

chubsasaurus · 29/05/2011 14:09

Also there is a big difference between legal tax avoidance and tax evasion - 'rich lawyers with accountants' and Vodafone are not breaking the law. Benefits cheats (not the disabled) are.

ScousyFogarty · 29/05/2011 14:10

Point out for the people raising points. Its not a matter of individuals with cameron .Its a matter of taking 30 quid a week from disability claimants and creating an atmosphere of "their allscroungers" so the govt does not have to face the charge of Kicking the poor and letting the richoff the HOOK....BECAUSE THEY HAVE LAWYERS AND ACCOUNTANTS....And some donate to the Tory Party (Tough, nasty game politics. Forget Cams 2k suits)

OP posts:
chubsasaurus · 29/05/2011 14:11

I don't think Cameron is doing this at all. He might be bringing benefit cheats to light but they are not the disabled.

ScousyFogarty · 29/05/2011 14:16

clubsaurius your heart seems to be with the rich and powerful getting away with it . May I ask are you a banker? Or connected to the aforementioned Tory Party? Some one has tobe) I tendtotake the side of the people at the bottom of the pile. So I do not vote Tory, though I quiet liked old Macmillan who would have hated camerons tactics.

OP posts:
aliceliddell · 29/05/2011 14:21

Scousy, I'm liking your thoughts. chubsasaurus, your points tell us more about who makes the law and why than about ethics. Love the previous point re not getting dragged out of wheelchairs. Does being classed 'fit to work' after terminal cancer diagnosis count? Do you seriously believe all those disabled people outside (couldn't give) ATOS are too daft to realise they get sod all because it's wasted on scroungers? If people are pretending to be disabled, doesn't this show there's something seriously amiss that getting a few people off benefits won't solve?

bochead · 29/05/2011 14:34

Dla requires an awful lot of supporting evidence to successfully claim, from more than one qualified source (medical specialist NOT the old biddy at numer 43). It is acknowledged as being both one of the hardest benefits to claim and as having one of the lowest rates of fraud due to the burden of proof required in order to be eligible.

We are all just a careless driver & a split second from disabilty in our prime, and very few make it to their dotage without experiencing some impairment. I can't believe just how selfish society seems to be becoming, given how vulnerable each and everyone is to the risk of needing assistance at some point. This government is doing nothing less than encourgaing the growth a sociopathic society (one where the individual has no empathy towards others). Money is still being spent on banks and the imperial war machine with impunity, the Olympics and other grandiose displays to impress other nations. The corporate elite pay minimal taxes (boots was just doing what they all do).

If our tax payments & therefore government are not to provide us with a vital saftey net when disaster befalls us, then we need to have a root and branch reform of the whole system of government. We need to reassess what percentage we as citizens need to retain of our earnings and within our own families and communities to insure ourselves against disaster. The ruling elite can then have what we think is left over to pay for their perks and toys. Most people would be able to afford private insurance etc if they paid no tax at all until they reached the average wage bracket, and a minimal amount of tax over that would cover education, the NHS and any service we voted democratically to allow the government to retain control of.

It's especially annoying as the last conservative government consigned whole communities to sickness benefits (not the same as disability benefits) to massage the unemployment figures when they destroyed the mining industry. Now we have a looming energy crisis facing our children but have lost our indigenous key supplier of energy (home produced coal).

Real development of those ex-mining communities into long term sustainable economic areas was too much like hard work, as is the root and branch reform of today's banking industry that is urgently needed.

It's political short termism of the worst kind. Scapegoat the vulnerable and kick the real problems our country down the road to our children to pick up the pieces. ATOS doctors are not as informed as individual's consultants re disablities. Therefore the system being created will eventually favour those who know how to play the system and fake, while the genuine will once again be left to suffer.

ThisIsANiceCage · 29/05/2011 14:34

"But when you get to the stage where claims start to be exaggerated or false claims become too numerous and money is more tight, what do you do?"

GiddyPickle you've put your finger straight on the nub of this thread.

Fraud is currently v low on disability benefits - less than 1%.

But the torrent of news stories about this small number of people gives the unknowing public the feeling that they must be "too numerous".

And all discussion of what to do for the disabled (not for fraudsters) seems to contain a reference to fraudsters/scroungers, sometimes simply by adding the word "genuine" - to keep the idea of "non-genuine" claimants on the table.

I personally have evidence suggesting the govt tries to place stories like this in the press - and I'm not the only one who's noticed. It's actually predictable: whenever disability cuts get a bad press, a few days later a benefit fraud story will appear from central govt.

chubsasaurus · 29/05/2011 15:11

I didnt say disabled people pretend, I meant that if anything the Tories may be creating an atmosphere where benefits cheats (not disabled) are vilified (rightly) before announcing further welfare reform.

No, I am not a banker. I think scaremongering and Tory bashing is a waste of time.

aliceliddell · 29/05/2011 16:57

chubs - you think Tory bashing is a waste of time? Many believe it to be humanity's highest calling.

ScousyFogarty · 29/05/2011 17:11

BOCHEAD great logicAL WRITING; even if you dont agree with it. Please read it. ALICE LIDELL...has .experience and understands Tories and the disabled SHELLEY BOOBS..Rants is used whenpeople have nological logical answer and sink to mild abuse A more mature person would agree to differ. of course I feel strongly: govt bullying the disab led through the tabloids. Get wised up Using the tabloids is part of tory plicy

OP posts:
ScousyFogarty · 29/05/2011 17:18

On "nasty party" well the home secretary was telling her party. We Tories have to change. Alas ,they have changed toa rather rightwing expublic school boy. Davis would have had more credibility. Normal background FOOTIE Fergie mk2 has got pboro promoted just now Daddy will be pleased

OP posts:
ThisIsANiceCage · 29/05/2011 17:22

Don't get distracted by imagining this is Tory-led.

Much of this happened under Labour, and I noticed Nick Clegg making similar noises before the election.

The people may want a support system for the sick and disabled, but commercial insurance companies really, really want that money to flow through them and have been lobbying all the politicos for years.

(I can back this up with links, but it's Sunday and I'm having a day off.)

ScousyFogarty · 29/05/2011 17:39

yep....needs saying, well said. The GuardiaN,Indy and D Mirror are to some extent saying what Labour and the Liberals should be sayng about this policy which the Tories are now responsible for. (Putting disabled through constant interviews and threats of interviews) You would not do it to to a dog.And what will the tories say privately if tragedies occur .Some have already."Sorry b ut we cant make a disability omelette without cracking a few disable heads" yuk

OP posts:
ThisIsANiceCage · 29/05/2011 17:42

Oh now that's a link I would be interested in, Scousy; I keep files of this shit because the nice people never quite believe it's happening.

Do you remember where you saw that quote/paraphrase?

smileANDwave2000 · 29/05/2011 17:52

bochead makes total sense as ive been in this position with a vunerable child on dla who will from what we are led to believe will probably NOT be getting dla if they have their way as he is autistic not in a wheelchair Confused they will say this is not "disabled" enough for them when he cant walk on his own or safely and goes to a special school because he doent know he cant talk to complete strangers his joints ARE painfull but as hes autistic he cant express this , as bochead says this is one of the hardest to get benefits and doesnt go very far for helping in this climate yet it and our car for DS may well soon be taken away and apparently given to more deserving folk???

ScousyFogarty · 29/05/2011 18:00

I forgot to say the Daily Torygraph and 4 other tabloids backs the Tories. So Cameron knows he will get good headlines for the harsh disab ility stuff he lets his ministers put out. ( I am sorry to say BBC Radio 5-live have tended to follow Cameron. Not challenging his disability statements as Radio 4 would...)Radio 4 did an interview with A DISABILITY charity this morning rubbishing Tory critics of the disabled. they said they ,the Tories, were chasing scrounger headlines against the disabled So now some of you know a little more about what you are supporting. I support the disabled against this Tory policy Listen to the charities whohave some responsibility.. in the matter BURNLEY. is a key place. the policy was tried out their ALRIGHT....RIGHT...tRY AND NOT LET THE BAR STEWARDS GET YOU DOWN
