To think that some people would rather be

to think that some people would rather work all the hours they can and earn shed loads of money than earn less and spend quality time at home with the family or doing hobbies and having a relaxing time?

OP posts:

No offence but I want to show a better example of a work ethic to my kids and will do so.
My neighbours had parents who spent a lot of time with them, both mine worked long hours. Their kids - one shotgun teenage wedding, one rapist drug addict, one who slept with a student when a teacher . Us - all professionals, successful and happily married with lovely kids and a healthy respect for what our parents did for us and their work ethic and professional success. In fact we slightly hero worship our Dad.

travellingwilbury · 03/05/2011 18:34

x- stitch unless you would find it cathartic to have a really good rant I would walk away now .

You don't need to justify anything to anyone especially someone you don't know nor ever will .

xstitch · 03/05/2011 18:34

Oh and Mrschips you decided to act like a nasty vindictive bitch. Remember that will have consequences too.

goodbyemrschips · 03/05/2011 18:35

All actions have consequences, tis true.

OP posts:
indulged · 03/05/2011 18:35

I should add their parents were quite nice decent people, very strict though.

travellingwilbury · 03/05/2011 18:35

And as for the bollocks about making your own destiny , that is a load of shite .

peppapighastakenovermylife · 03/05/2011 18:36

Shock. I think this thread should be pulled. Are you so miserable in your life OP that you fine pleasure in challenging someone over why they didnt leave when they were raped? I am horrified and am not usually so on here.

As for your destiny crap - your ability to make decisions is affected by your genetics, your biology, a million and one factors around you that determined your choices, resilience and options in life.

TandB · 03/05/2011 18:38

Agree with peppapig.

No-one has the right to judge someone about those sort of decisions - anyone who thinks things like that are always black and white is either naive or wilfully blind.

goodbyemrschips · 03/05/2011 18:40

Anybody has a right to be judged on the internet if they give the infomation out.

I am going to ask for this thread to be pulled.

How do I do that?

OP posts:
wordfactory · 03/05/2011 18:42

You may have the right to do as you please, but you have the responsibility not to.

TandB · 03/05/2011 18:42

[applauds wordfactory]

goodbyemrschips · 03/05/2011 18:45

So how do I get the thread pulled, any answers?

OP posts:
nenevomito · 03/05/2011 18:45

No the OP has a habit of starting threads which go something like this.

"I don't understand why people don't spend all their waking moments with their children. I do, so I am a better parent and a better person."

Its a bit samey and sounds a little bit vapid, but while the latest turns have seen her almost wedgy herself with her judgypants, a sanctimonious lack of empathy doesn't preclude you from posting here.

nenevomito · 03/05/2011 18:46

I don't think they'll pull a thread for someone showing their true colours mrschips.

TandB · 03/05/2011 18:47

[defects from wordfactory's cheering crowd and cheers babyheave]
[runs back and grabs cheerfulyank and drags her over too]

xstitch · 03/05/2011 18:48

I wouldn't worry mrschips MNHQ are already aware of this thread.

Well said *wordfactory. I think this thread should stand btw, hopefully it will allow others to see what vindictiveness some posters can peddle and may dilute any further harm the may do.

goodbyemrschips · 03/05/2011 18:48

I try to start interesting thread not the fluffy drudge I have read.

Controversy is good.

So no ones wants it pulled then?

OP posts:
goodbyemrschips · 03/05/2011 18:49

ok leave it then whatever you think is best.

goodbyemrschips · 03/05/2011 18:53

Which is pointless if I name change!

OP posts:
travellingwilbury · 03/05/2011 18:53

Why does asking someone about rape amuse you ?

I noticed you wanted to draw the line at dead children or partners , I suppose everyone has a line eh ?

PeachyAndTheArghoNauts · 03/05/2011 18:53

We have hobbies, Dh works and I study, and we have the family but it's the hobby that defines us i think (it is shared with our older 2 dc).

DH works whatever hours he needs to as he is self employed; some days little, some weeks constant. It seems to work for us tbh.
