I know this is really unkind but Beatrice and Eugenie looked like the 2 ugly sisters

Wash my mouth out for saying it but their wedding outfits were completely unflattering. Someone should offer them style advice.

OP posts:
exoticfruits · 30/04/2011 17:25

I would love to be as 'unattractive' as Eugenie too!

exoticfruits · 30/04/2011 17:25

She could look quite stunning with the 'right' advice.

minieggfannomore · 30/04/2011 17:28

If I had a friend who had worn either of those outfits I would be worrying about their sanity tbh Valiumbandwitch. I certainly wouldn't call them very attractive!

They looked dreadful and considering they have a lot of money and time to find suitable clothing they don't have much excuse.

Still laughing at the mad goggly black eyes and antler combo though - priceless!

Onetoomanycornettos · 30/04/2011 17:30

As I said on the other thread, it seems to be the purpose of the Daily Mail to get women to laugh at other women, particularly those who are not rail thin and wear colourful clothing (see the coverage of Ascot). Actually, far more women look like Beatrice and Eugenie in the UK (nice skin, a bit plump, pear-shaped and without great dress sense). They are not thin and covered in fake tan and are therefore deemed 'ugly' when in fact neither is facially ugly, even if they are not conventionally beautiful.

Nothing wrong with disliking someone's hat, everything wrong with sneering at ordinary shaped women as 'ugly' and the endless fetishization of thinness.

jugofwildflowers · 01/05/2011 02:14

Oh golly, the world's press and we have the two ugly sisters Eugenie and Beatrice making British womankind look cringeworthy. Just shows you that all the money and privilege in the world cannot buy you style and elegance.

Thank goodness for the Middleton sisters! Customers I had thought it must be very embarrassing being a British woman when so many British women let the side down by being overweight and having no dress sense.

One of my customers couldn't understand why British women like showing off rolls of fat in unflattering clothes (but to be honest I think that's better than being in a Burqa!)

GothAnneGeddes · 01/05/2011 03:28

Jug - What a nasty post, pretty much proving LyingWitch's point.

All I will say about Beatrice and Eugenie is that they always look happy and that I'm pleased to see. And they are not bloody fat Hmm.

OP YABU and unkind.

HipHopOpotomus · 01/05/2011 05:06

Yes their outfits were dreadful but the "ugly sisters" comments are frankly very "obvious" (ie heard it on the day from judgeypants sat next to me) and i think quite nasty.

HipHopOpotomus · 01/05/2011 05:21

Plus the bride was hardly "cinderella" material!!!!!

SoupDragon · 01/05/2011 07:58

If the ugly sisters comment is nasty, what is the Cinderella one?

personally, I took the Ugly sister remark to refer to the fact that they did look straight out of panto, not that they were ugly themselves. In fact, I'm sure one of the panto dames in the Cinderella I saw at Christmas was wearing that hat.

Himalaya · 01/05/2011 08:17

I am sure there will be plenty of pantomime dames wearing a version of that hat this Xmas..

I wonder if it was a witty take on the 'Fergie bow'?

HipHopOpotomus · 01/05/2011 10:22

I've never been to panto. KM is far far away from being a Cinderella story though is she? B &E didn't keep her in their kitchen as a scullery maid did they? Not nasty, this just isn't a Cinderella/ugly sisters story.

TiggyD · 01/05/2011 10:30

Yes, You are being a bitch.

valiumbandwitch · 01/05/2011 10:35

she can't help the mad goggly eyes though. i think people are allowed to look a bit different. She has a quirky look yeah, but my eyes had a slightly googly look 20 years ago but now, with age (41) my eyelids have drooped a bit and the googly look has gone and now I just look a bit younger than I am because i had the head start of mad googly eyes.

marmaladetwatkins · 01/05/2011 10:37

Their outfits were a bit odd, yes, but they're both very pretty and NOT fat. If they're fat, there is no hope for the rest of us. Hmm

jug you sound horrendous. I assume that you are stunning though, since you feel so comfortable being cuntish vile about other women.

TiggyD · 01/05/2011 10:50

They should be "normal people", but not too thin as it's a bad message to send to young girls and not overweight as they'll get called names like the "Duchess of Pork". They need a stylist and to be ordinary like me and you. They need to get jobs and work like ordinary people but not do anything that will require them to have security. They need to use their fame for the benefit of good causes while not seeking publicity. They need to stop worrying about their appearance all the time while not forgetting they could get photographed at any time and their appearance criticised.

The reason I'm against the monarchy is that it's not fair to treat people in the way the royals get treated. Because of an accident of birth not of your choosing, you are not able to have a normal life.

laptopwieldingharpy · 01/05/2011 10:55

Eugenie looked stunning in that black dress. The blue frock was horrid but she still looked shapely and fresh. Beatrice is just trying too hard to look edgy. She has attitude but should sack the stylist.

valiumbandwitch · 01/05/2011 11:01

yeah tiggy, flippin' tightrope they're walking, they're doing their best I'm sure.

slavewife · 01/05/2011 11:11

I didn't like the "blue" dress, and I thought the gold one was OK, except for the hat. However both princesses looked happy to be their, and to me that's all that matters.

minieggfannomore · 01/05/2011 11:13

"mad goggly black eyes" was actually a reference to Beatrice's choice of eye make up which was a poor one in the light of her choice of outfit! I am sure her eyes are perfectly attractive in their unadorned state.

"Because of an accident of birth not of your choosing, you are not able to have a normal life". - Why don't they renounce the gross wealth and wholly unearned position then?

I guess they want it all: money, privilege and adoration.

slavewife · 01/05/2011 11:14

I dont get this "accident" of birth comment!, I'm sure there parents would disagree with this "accident" statement!.

minieggfannomore · 01/05/2011 11:31

"accident of birth: doesn't mean they were the result of an unplanned pregnancy!

minieggfannomore · 01/05/2011 11:33

It means that they have lots of wealth, privilege and status purely because of the family they were born into --and this ridiculous country supports all this unequal toadying bullshit

slavewife · 01/05/2011 11:35

I never said it was Hmm, however I still dont get the "accident of birth" comment, Im sure their parents disapprove of this statement!.

slavewife · 01/05/2011 11:37

as are everyone else then, not just the financial position they we're born into, why just generalize it to the wealth Hmm? why not the poor? ever one can be an "accident of birth" by you're (general) illogical thinking Hmm

TiggyD · 01/05/2011 11:40

They didn't get to choose whether or not they wanted a life under constant scrutiny. They just happened to have been born to it.

" Why don't they renounce the gross wealth and wholly unearned position then?". They would then be followed round by the press because people want to know all about these people who renounced their wealth and position.
