I know this is really unkind but Beatrice and Eugenie looked like the 2 ugly sisters

Wash my mouth out for saying it but their wedding outfits were completely unflattering. Someone should offer them style advice.

OP posts:
southeastastra · 29/04/2011 20:12

has it not always been the way though lying?

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe2726 · 29/04/2011 20:15

Sybil... How many men are on this thread making nasty comments, hmm?

Belle... Your post brings home exactly what's wrong with society. It's a terrible message to give to our children.

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe2726 · 29/04/2011 20:17

Southeastastra... That doesn't mean it always needs to be that way in the future though, does it? When did we give the message to the media that it's ok to treat women (and men) this way? The media has dumbed down to meet the wants of the public and it's become parasitic. I don't accept it and I won't ever feel that I should because 'it's always been that way'. Hmm

SybilBeddows · 29/04/2011 20:18

No men on this thread, probably.
But women bitching about women is enabled and encouraged by men. It's divide and conquer, I reckon.

SugarSkyHigh · 29/04/2011 20:19

I LOVED everyone's outfit!! especially Kate's and Posh's. And you HAVE to have some interesting outfits otherwise it's all too boring and perfect. (viz-a-viz Beatrice & Eugenie, and TPT).

did anyone notice princess Michael of Kent, aka "the pushy princess"? she had the biggest hat!!

OnEdge · 29/04/2011 20:23

The antler hat actually made me feel disturbed looking at at it Shock

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe2726 · 29/04/2011 20:23

Sybil... I'm absolutely stunned by your comment.... How about women stop bitching about other women and start supporting them instead? United we stand, and all that?

How can you blame men for enabling and encouraging women to bitch? Do women not have any brains for themselves? Men don't do it, or are in the miniority if they do.

I've always been a 'woman's woman', but I'm very picky at the company I keep for a very good reason.

Clary · 29/04/2011 20:31

Actually I don't see many (any?) posts here saying that either of the two women is overweight.

Theh point is their clothes were not good choices, and they must have cost a lot and both princesses must have recourse to plenty of fashion advice, so it's a shame they didn't make/weren't directed to better choices.

Lots of posters have actually said what lovely figures they have, pretty faces, striking smiles etc.

HerRoyalHighnessSarahStratton · 29/04/2011 20:34

I prefer men's company. I've struggled to find a trustworthy female friend and at mid 40's I've given up. This thread makes me feel very uncomfortable, as does the one in Chat about Chelsy Davies.

belledechocchipcookie · 29/04/2011 20:34

The bitching starts in childhood, more then likely learned from the women around children and the media. I was laughed at as a child for not having the 'right clothes.' We are all responsible for teaching our children and showing them how to treat others. A bitchy comment here and there all mounts up, they are impressionable. Hand on heart, how many of you have criticised another womans clothes or hair in front of your child?

SybilBeddows · 29/04/2011 20:35

Lying, it doesn't mean men have ALL the responsibility, of course women should just stop it, I agree with that bit.
But in the end, women don't decide what goes in the Daily Mail. If the people who control journalists' careers decide that women bitching about what other women wear is what should go in the paper, they will always be able to find a few women to write those articles. But it would be pretty easy for them to not print them - the bitchy articles could be stopped in a stroke.

Georgimama · 29/04/2011 20:40

Yes very good, very worthy. The fact remains however, that a Princess of the royal blood appeared at a wedding with a hat on her head which resembled a vulva, and she has the means to make a bit more of an effort, frankly.

SpringFollows · 29/04/2011 20:40

TBH I was not enamoured with Beatrice's outfit, and that hat is not to my tatse at all, but she is looking VERY skinny, WAY too skinny for someone with her regular body shape IMO. That made me a little worried for her really.

Can you imagine what it must be like to be scrutinised like that? I think it has affected her. The pressure on her has been immense... remember those awful headlines when she dared to go out in a bikini with a non-model bikini figure?

At the end of the day, she is just a young girl.

belledechocchipcookie · 29/04/2011 20:40

They wouldn't have anything to print if they did that sybil! Wink

Everyone's responsible.

HerRoyalHighnessSarahStratton · 29/04/2011 20:40

Or maybe just not buying the DM. DM's readership is predominantly female.

BitOfFunPipPip · 29/04/2011 20:41

She is a grown woman, at the beginning of the day too. But I can't see anybody slagging their looks off- just their choice of outfit. Which is fair comment.

Want2bSupermum · 29/04/2011 20:42

I know it sounds silly but when going out I have someone take pictures of me from the front and back on our digital camera. I then review and edit my outfit and take a 2nd round of pictures. I then delete the pictures. It is difficult with mirrors because the lighting often makes your outfit appear more flattering than it really is.

There was no excuse for that hat at all. The westwood number clearly didn't fit her on the top half and the bottom half needed to be at least one tone darker. Mother Middleton looked very nice and I can't wait to see what the DM come up to justify calling her a social climber. The lady didn't put a foot wrong in my opinion and I would love to hear the Middletons viewpoint on raising children. They have done a great job with all three of them.

jojowest · 29/04/2011 20:45

I can't see anybody slagging their looks off-

oh come on, she is hideous :)

SpringFollows · 29/04/2011 20:50

well, I don't know about slagging their looks off. It may be in this thread or one of the others but people are saying she has fish eyes or boggle eyes or whatever and that they are lumpen.

I have a big nose and no chin and lots of jowls. Thankfully there is no-one to see and judge that but my nearest and dearest. (And the drunk guy at the pub last week who opined I had a face like a frying pan). Grin

ronnyTodgers · 29/04/2011 20:55

sadly they inherited their mothers sense of style :)

belledechocchipcookie · 29/04/2011 20:57

You can't seriously say that these posts don't slag off their looks Hmm :

"they must be the ugliest things in that family of not too great lookers

certainly take after their mother, poor cows"

"I think they looked terrible; both are hefty and Beatrice has pop eyes. Eugenie is prettier. Beatrice's outfit would be more appropriate for Camilla- minus the hat, which was vile. The other dress seemed to have a hem coming undone. love to know how much they paid to look so dreadful."

"Beatrice looked like a teletubby and Eugenie the Noo Noo"

heliumballoons · 29/04/2011 21:00

OP I just rung my mum and was discussing the royal wedding and how ovely Kate and Wills looked.

She said I know but... (insert your thread title here)

So from me and my DMum YANBU. Grin

bringmesunshine2009 · 29/04/2011 21:02

Ooo they looked yukeroo!

SpringFollows · 29/04/2011 21:11

www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/royal-wedding/8481464/Royal-wedding-fashion-the-best-dressed-guests.html?image=4

actually in this pic you can kind of see what she was trying to achieve. And it is flattering here, I think.

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe2726 · 29/04/2011 21:12

Sybil... If women are the majority of the DM readers then they have the power to decide what goes into the publication. It's a basic concept of supply and demand. Of course if women, being the majority readers, clamour for muck-raking and pointless trite then that is what they'll get.

Don't blame men for what women do and vice versa, that's unworthy of anybody and it sounds very stupid. Hmm
