I know this is really unkind but Beatrice and Eugenie looked like the 2 ugly sisters

Wash my mouth out for saying it but their wedding outfits were completely unflattering. Someone should offer them style advice.

OP posts:
MrsFruitcake · 29/04/2011 19:15

Actually, I think TPT looks worse. How can anyone make Valentino and Westwood look awful? I think they were lovely outfits.

GitAwfMayLend · 29/04/2011 19:15

LOVED Miriam Gonzales.

I have said this on 80 different threads today. I loved her hat in particular, she is a very good looking woman.

HOW did Nick Clegg manage that etc.

Don't think it is important that Sam Cam didn't wear a hat, don't think you have to. Think she looked very good, and she probably top trumps most of them in posho stakes, so shows a bit of insouciance I think.

hairfullofsnakes · 29/04/2011 19:23

Lol that is what I said on the thread about kate's wedding dress - you copyin me OP?! Wink

WhatsWrongWithYou · 29/04/2011 19:27

I disagree with what Highlander said re. E & B being very 'Laaaaaaandon.' They actually strike me as gauche and bumpkin-esque rather than urbane and trying to make a fashion statement.

Agree they have so much potential to easily hold their own style-wise, but no one seems to be advising them. Surely they could easily have access to their own stylist? Even a personal shopping session at harvey Nicks would have come up with something better than those monstrosities. (Or, as I said to DH, a quick trip around New Look).

I was loving Princess Letizia (sp?) of Spain - she always cuts the mustard.

Liked SamCam's dress, but agree hair looked too downhome and needed a hat.

DioneTheDiabolist · 29/04/2011 19:28

I blame Valentino and Westwood. They had the chance to dress 2 princesses for the global social event of the year, and they ballsed it up. If that's how they styled the princesses, I'd be avoiding them like the plague.

alistron1 · 29/04/2011 19:31

I couldn't believe what they were wearing. Mind you a lot of the guests looked a bit odd too. As my DD1 said 'what is it with rich people and ugly hats'

Posh's hat was just stupid and TPT looked very odd. If you are going to a wedding, a smart wedding, then you should dress (as blokes do) in an understated way. A wedding is no time to make a fashion statement. Kate Middletons mum got it spot on, as did The Queen.

I thought that Earl Spencers daughters were not smart enough either TBH. They all looked like they needed a hairbrush.

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 29/04/2011 19:31

Loved TPT's dress, but the hat was too much and the shoes were too detailed, a plain court would have been better. Just too much altogether with the blue gloves and bag too.

WhatsWrongWithYou · 29/04/2011 19:33

Well, I suppose, to be fair, if Valentino and Viv W were 'advising' you, you'd be quite reasonable to think you were in good hands. Clearly not.

GitAwfMayLend · 29/04/2011 19:33

Whatswrong totally agree re Princess Letizia - she does always look fabulous.

Think Beatrice and Eugenie looked like those heifers at Aintree we laugh at every spring.

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe2726 · 29/04/2011 19:34

You're being unreasonable and unkind, OP, and you meant to so that's worse really.

Regardless of your opinion of the dresses, your 'ugly sister' remarks have been directly lifted from the press and perhaps that's what feeds you and the rest of the tabloid obsessed public. Hmm

Beauty really is in the eye of the beholder and perhaps the princesses really liked their outfits and thought they looked good. Next time you venture out, thinking you're the bees knees and someone sniggers at your figure or perceived poor dress sense or because they think your children are odd looking, perhaps you'll wake up.

nijinsky · 29/04/2011 19:36

Oh Valentino and Westwood, was that who it was? Not a fan, seem a bit old fashioned. Maybe Armani would have been a better choice for their shapes.

Princess Victoria of Sweden - a tad trashy.

Oh I really think SamCam should have worn a hat, or at least a hair feature. Shes just so droopy faced and her hair is so lank. She could look nice but is possibly a tad old now to be get away with the casual, not trying to hard look.

Zara playing safe but smart with her statement hat and safe coat, good thinking!

Really want to get a forehead focussed hat now!

MrsFruitcake · 29/04/2011 19:42

Sam Cam looked like she'd done her own hair sadly. She's usually stylish but maybe the baby stole her time this morning so I'll let her off! Grin

80sMum · 29/04/2011 19:46

I thought Beatrice's and Eugenie's outfits were terrible, which is a shame as they are both very pretty girls. They were badly advised.

belledechocchipcookie · 29/04/2011 19:48

I'm with lyingwitch, some of these posts are just nasty, as are some of the comments on the Daily Mail thread. These are young ladies, someone's children. I'd be gutted if I read comments like these about me.

LostMyIdentityAlongTheWay · 29/04/2011 19:54

Let's face it - the picture that somebody posted was from the Daily Mail. IF you read the rest of the article, it is unbelievably bitchy about many of the guests that arrived.
I have to agree with belle and witch - I would hate to be held up to public scrutiny like this and be found wanting by the gutter press... we ALL know - if you're not perfect, skinny and turned out to the taste of the fashionistas, you're dead meat. How many of us would have passed muster? And saying 'they set themselves up for it by attending' doesn't really cut the mustard. For whatever reason - they were there. Actualy, I think those two girls (Fergie's kids..?) look pretty in the face - so what if one of them is carrying a few extra pounds. You could see from her expression just how nervous she was.

Say I, hoiking my jewish, frizzy hair out of my face... I'd be dead meat as soon as the paps set eyes on me.

One more reason why I avoided the entire bloody event. Wish I hadn't even looked at the link now. (SIghs, feeling a failure...)

Jux · 29/04/2011 19:58

So many of these royals don't actually have looks, just grooming. The same goes for brains to a large extent. However, that's not why they're there and I'd rather they were as they are.

WhatsWrongWithYou · 29/04/2011 20:00

Well, all I can say, as someone not excessively hit with the pretty stick, is, thank god for grooming!

SybilBeddows · 29/04/2011 20:00

oh yes, the Mail article was vile. It was also misogynist - I don't notice them bitching about any of the MEN at the wedding.
except David Beckham with his OBE on the wrong side Confused

Onefunmum · 29/04/2011 20:00

I think they are both attractive girls but don't necessarily choose the right clothes for themselves.
Have to say that DM article is SO catty!
'her stiff lace hat splatted dementedly on her head'
Gems like 'TPT was keen to show off her new nose'
And comments about Lady Kitty Spencer's cleavage being on show . . . In a photo taken from above.
FGS leave 'em alone!

southeastastra · 29/04/2011 20:03

i think they knew that their outfits would get them attention and like fergie (and andrew) they thrive on a bit of publicity don't they, negative or positive. doubt they are bothered, probably just laughing about it themselves

Skifit · 29/04/2011 20:03

Beatrices' fascinator looked horrendous.. . . .like an alien.
However, I did like Eugenies' colour of petrol blue dress though.

They do inherit the big horsey teeth . . . . . . . . but I think they are pretty girls.

belledechocchipcookie · 29/04/2011 20:04

I hate the DM, they repeatidly do this about celebrities. If they are slightly overweight they are slated. What message is this telling our daughters and our sisters? It's not OK to do comment on someone's appearance in this way, it's shameful.

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe2726 · 29/04/2011 20:08

It's the women who are the bitches, the ones who look down on other women and run them down to make themselves feel better. I don't see many men doing this, not to women or other men. So spitefully nasty and unnecessary. I don't understand why anybody reads the tabloids, which I lump Daily Mail in with.

belledechocchipcookie · 29/04/2011 20:10

Very true LyingWitch.

SybilBeddows · 29/04/2011 20:12

who owns the Daily Mail?
who edits the Daily Mail?
women are paid to do it. But just blaming women is wrong, I think.
