Come hither all those who haven't found their place on mumsnet, have scrapped in Aibu or crossed words in chat. The buddy bench shalt not judge.

The buddy bench will hand out wine and cakes, it will join you on your scoffathons getting pissed

All those who sit on the bench, will have their sins erased and be given a warm welcome and cheerful chat from CheerfulYank, gomummy, tired mum, Elmo and far, far too many more to mention.

Welcome to the buddy bench, we look forward to meeting you all Smile

Oh and don't forget, last one to leave polishes bench and locks up!

Well, when I win the lottery I'll rent a lovely cottage for all the Benchers. :)

So DS was playing outside by himself today...he knows he can't leave the yard, and he knows he can't talk to anyone besides a few select neighbors. I have all the windows open so I can hear and see him, but it still makes me nervous.

Today I was watching out the window and a man was walking by with a dog. The man saw DS watching and asked if he wanted to pet the dog. DS ran inside saying "I can't talk to you til I ask my mom!" :) The man was a little Blush but I'm glad that DS listened to the rules. Do yours play out?

candleshoe · 08/04/2011 13:00

Mine play in the back garden - it is enclosed by a six foot fence though and the gate is locked - but I still check on them out of the window every few minutes. I wouldn't let them play in the front though I don't think - there's no fence and its straight onto the road.

I expect the man was fine - its worrying though.

CheerfulYank · 08/04/2011 13:03

Good morning!

Yes candle I actually knew who the man was but DS didn't. It's so hard, you don't want to over protect, and yet...hard to know what to do sometimes!

What's everyone up to on this lovely Friday? It's only 7 am here, I really must get ready for work. :)

candleshoe · 08/04/2011 13:08

It is the first day of the Easter holidays here so I have my 3 DC home for the day - I don't go to work until 3 pm. So today it is play, play, play, bicker and play some more here while I try to do the laundry and cook the tea.

Ahhh domestic bliss Hmm

CheerfulYank · 08/04/2011 16:34

Am Envy of your Easter holiday! We get Good Friday and Easter Monday off, that's it.

CheerfulYank · 09/04/2011 18:56

Welll...it's been a day. I had my phone on silent from work last night, and then kept if off because today was my day to sleep in and I didn't want any alarms going off.

I got up quite late and was pottering around the house for awhile before it occured to me to check my phone. I had several missed calls, a message, and a text from my brother. (Who lives with us.) The text said that he was being arrested for drunk driving and could I let his dog out. Angry

The voice message started with "what the f*%k!" and then continued to be really harsh and aggressive toward me for not having my phone on. Um, okay , it's not my fault that you're almost 32 years old and can't take care of yourself. I am furious with him. He could have gotten hurt or killed someone, and he's done this several times already when he was younger.

And DH is sick and sleeping, poor man. And DS I think is also coming down with something because he's been whiny and crying all morning and really defiant and cranky.

AARRRGGGHHHHH! My brother is on his way home from jail and I am ready to punch him.

Teaandcakeplease · 09/04/2011 19:15

Oh no cheerful Sad As a 32 yr old myself I cannot get my head around his attitude. Just be firm he's in the wrong not you x

Urgh someone on another thread reckoned throwing bleach in their washing machine solved the smell problems, I'd tried all the others but I put in so much bleach it's gone mad on the foam front Sad Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!

Thanks tea. He was, I always say, a difficult child who's grown into a difficult man. He's just never happy and he's...well, he's mean. He's devastatingly funny, though, and my only sibling so I always feel like I need to take care of him or something. And he's the oldest. Grr.

Sorry to hear about your washing machine...hope it all gets sorted out. Is it Easter holiday for you too?

Teaandcakeplease · 09/04/2011 19:29

Yes it is. Off to stay with the outlaws next week. Fly up on Tues to see them in Scotland.

Oh cheerful - how awful for you! I have a mad immature aunty who has been a burden on my Mum so I sort of know what that's like. You love them but they send you mad!

Shock at your bleach Tea!

CheerfulYank · 09/04/2011 19:35

Oooh tea ...be sure to check out the pilot! :o

CheerfulYank · 09/04/2011 19:35

Thanks candle. I'm at my wit's end sometimes, and it's all the worse because he lives here. I may have to boot him.

elmofan · 09/04/2011 21:55

hectic weekend Grin

gomummygo · 10/04/2011 22:54

Hello all. We've been in the hospital since last Thursday, DS just released tonight, will be going back for followup treatment but at least gets to sleep in his own bed. Won't go into detail on here but the docs feel he is recovering (illness, not injury).

I am a wreck. DH was gone (work) at first and we have no family here so I had to deal with the worst parts of it on my own and though from the outside I looked like I was managing everything well, I have never been so terrified in my life.

Anyway I need to take my mind off of the last few days or I will crumble so jumped on here to catch up.

Good to see you back Elmo, did DS like his cake?

Cheerful I am sorry for what you're having to deal with with your bro. I had similar in my family and am now no-contact with the person (for that and many other reasons), but do remember how very stressful and emotional it was. Maybe this could be a turning point for your DB?

Tea this will sound really strange, but if you've tried all the vinegar, sodium bicarb, bleachy stuff....do you have something called Tang where you live? It's like a powdered orange-flavoured drink. I have used it in the past for similar types of problems. It will clean an old toilet with an odor or a musty shower stall like you would not believe! I know it sounds odd but if you've tried the other stuff, I'd recommend a hot wash load of Tang! Also, once I had a terrible smell coming from my dishwasher. When I took the whole thing apart, there was this grey smelly gunk on all of the gaskets that didn't come off without scraping. So I scraped it off, and it was 100% better! If you have a front loader, might it have a gasket like this? My final thought would be dishwasher detergent?

Off to bed early for me, have not slept a single minute in several days now, am a bit like a zombie. Hope you are all well.

CheerfulYank · 11/04/2011 03:01

OH my gosh! I was just thinking today that you hadn't been on for awhile and wondering if everything was okay. I'm so sorry, please PM me anytime. If you don't feel like getting into it at all I understand of course. I wish I were closer, it's so hard to deal with things on your own. You and your little man are in my prayers!

Really, Tang for a washing machine?! Will have to try it.

elmofan · 11/04/2011 11:56

candleshoe · 11/04/2011 19:07
gomummygo · 11/04/2011 21:10

Thanks for the good wishes all.

Poor DD Elmo, she has been through so much! Is an emergency doctor a doctor that actually comes to your house? I remember having read about "house calls" - is that the same kind of thing?

I am Envy of anyone being able to get any kind of doctor at all, it is v. difficult to get medical care where I am - you drive to a hospital and wait for hours to see someone different every time. There are thousands on wait lists for GPs just in this area alone - and the wait is years.

Oooh Tiredmum how exciting, first night in your new home! Congratulations to you all. Hope the boys (well, the bigger ones anyway!) are helping you with all the unpacking.

Yes seriously Cheerful, I know it sounds strange, but for some reason Tang is an excellent cleaner for certain things. Makes you wonder that we drink something that will clean a dishwasher, but then again, people drink coke and pepsi, which I use to remove rust! Grin

candleshoe · 11/04/2011 21:16

I use babywipes to clean everthing even the oven!! They shift filth - but it does make you wonder what is in them! Hmm
