Come hither all those who haven't found their place on mumsnet, have scrapped in Aibu or crossed words in chat. The buddy bench shalt not judge.

The buddy bench will hand out wine and cakes, it will join you on your scoffathons getting pissed

All those who sit on the bench, will have their sins erased and be given a warm welcome and cheerful chat from CheerfulYank, gomummy, tired mum, Elmo and far, far too many more to mention.

Welcome to the buddy bench, we look forward to meeting you all Smile

Oh and don't forget, last one to leave polishes bench and locks up!

Hahahaha I love the term hosed. It reminds me of Strange Brew (you must've seen it, otherwise they'd exile you from the land of the maple :o)

"Take off, you hoser!"

CheerfulYank · 01/04/2011 23:23

Sweet dreams, tea !

gomummygo · 01/04/2011 23:27

LOL @ "hoser" quote Cheerful...I use it all the time!

elmofan · 01/04/2011 23:30

Ok i have to ask what does hosed/hoser mean Grin
is it being ripped off?

gomummygo · 02/04/2011 01:42

Yes, being hosed is being ripped off. The "hoser" slang came from a Canadian sketch comedy thing originally I believe, but could be wrong on that.

CheerfulYank · 02/04/2011 02:11

I heard it was in reference to someone who used a hose to siphon gasoline, but that could be one of those urban legends :)

CheerfulYank · 02/04/2011 02:55

Look what I found!

*IveGotABiggerTellyThanYou Tue 04-May-10 19:40:53

So this un-noticed group is now called the Buddy Bench? lol love it.*

Our first anniversary is coming up, Ladies! We'll have to celebrate big-style. :o

GotArt · 02/04/2011 03:00

Yes, 'Take off, eh. You hoser' is Canadian slang:

Hoser: (n) Canadian hockey derogatory term derived from the pre-zamboni days, where the LOSING team would have to hose down the ice after the game.

But more popularly known to be used by Bob and Doug Mackenzie, from a skit called The Great White North with Rick Moranis and Dave Thomas from SCTV, (Second City Television Station), which was a skit show where all the skits were presented like programs. It was/is very funny. It could mean anything from referring to someone clumsy or stupid who drinks beer excessively to what you call your brother when your mom is in the room. Their movie was Strange Brew.

I'm Canadian, eh. Grin

CheerfulYank · 02/04/2011 03:27

I LOVE Strange Brew!

"Steam roller! Steam roller!" My brother and I used to watch it and laugh hysterically. :o

GotArt · 02/04/2011 05:02

Grin I've been watching bits on youtube tonight and having laughs again.

Its a horrible wet day here so we are all watching dvd's & having hot chocolate to cheer us up .

gomummygo · 02/04/2011 18:17

Morning all! :)

Aww Tiredmum he looks so sweet! I so wish I was close enough to steal a little cuddle!

Elmo that is some brutal testing DS is going through! Hope you are all feeling better soon, especially poor DD. Mother's Day is not for another six weeks or so here, so no plans for us! And you?

Cheerful I had actually thought that our anniversary had passed! Was that from the original "Just to Say" thread? Crazy how fast time flies. I agree, and we must decorate this bench, as well as all of the other things we've acquired in that time - the gazebo and bbq and chiminea, etc.!

I shall make a lovely virtual antipasto platter for the event. And tiny individual cheesecakes. Many of them. Grin

gomummygo · 02/04/2011 18:19

Valium that is sweet - DS thinking the chocolates might break. :)

Thanks Elmo!

elmofan · 02/04/2011 18:23

Oh so when are we having this little celebration then ? Do we have a date of the very first buddy bench ?

CheerfulYank · 02/04/2011 18:28

I just posted that date because it was one of the first times we referred to the Buddy Bench as such. :)

gomummygo · 02/04/2011 18:35

Wow, I guess that sort of was its' inception then Cheerful! :)
