to wonder if MN can actually agree on there being a person in the public eye who we all admire?

Is there any celebrity well known person that is admired/deemed acceptable by the whole of MN?

I doubt it.

Grin

I'll start by throwing Lauren Laverne and Timmy Mallet into the mix.

I've got a man idea!

Ronnie Barker!

Queen Dolly and King Ronnie!

It even nearly rhymes!

pingu2209 · 28/03/2011 19:20

I admire Steve Redgrave. Okay he isn't a 'celebrity' but he is in the public eye. Amazing man.

caramelwaffle · 29/03/2011 22:38

So Gok "lovely darling, lovely" Wan and More Than Freeman are definite yes's (?)

ilovemyhens · 01/04/2011 10:44

I read somewhere that Morgan Freeman has had loads of affairs Sad

ilovemyhens · 01/04/2011 10:47

affair with his step granddaughter

Confused
Underachieving · 01/04/2011 13:07

Jamie Oliver

caramelwaffle · 01/04/2011 23:20

Oh dear - re: Mr Freeman

Gok "women, be fabulous" Wan.

Still a contender (?)

Also Dolly P.

marybeard · 01/11/2011 19:52

hi .. i've been off the radar a bit long..I wonder about 'admiring'.. but worth talking and disagreeing about, yes??

looneytoons · 01/11/2011 20:08

Peter Kay.

aquashiv · 01/11/2011 20:14

Tony Benn

blackoutthesun · 01/11/2011 20:27

i'm voting for stephen fry

or that george bloke from bbc news - he seems nice

Andrewofgg · 01/11/2011 20:28

Benn is bonkers. Churchill was - by our standards - a racist, although he did support the suffragettes.

But Clarkson, grovel? On this of all forums do I have to remind anybody what he said about the Ipswich murders?

bibbitybobbitybloodyaxe · 01/11/2011 20:31

I most emphatically do not agree with Stephen Fry.

Can't be arsed to trawl through whole thread - has anyone suggested Joan Bakewell?

Kladdkaka · 01/11/2011 20:32

Trevor McDonald

LeBOF · 01/11/2011 20:35

I love Tony Benn- he was the only one who stood up to Ali G properly instead of trying to be down with the kids, yet was completely unpompous. Mary Beard is an excellent suggestion. And I'm enjoying the woman who presents The Origins Of Us on at the moment, but as I don't know her name yet, she's not really National Treasure status yet.

DrSeuss · 01/11/2011 20:37

I like Michelle Obama-has she been suggested yet?

LeBOF · 01/11/2011 20:38

Ooh, and seeing as I've over-used the word 'yet' in that post, which makes me think of yetis (yeties?), that reminds me of another good one: David Attenborough. I'd like him to be my grandad.

LeBOF · 01/11/2011 20:39

Susan Sarandon?

LeBOF · 01/11/2011 20:41

Oooh, and how could I forget feminist Ryan Gosling? Grin

redroof · 01/11/2011 20:41

Joanna Lumley. Absolute diamond, no?

Animation · 01/11/2011 20:46

Angelina Jolie - Salt.

Great role model for assertiveness.

LeBOF · 01/11/2011 20:49

The character? Because I think the actress is quite flawed as a role model or person to admire.

WreckOfTheBeautiful · 01/11/2011 20:50

Bill Bailey.

Animation · 01/11/2011 20:50

I mean Salt. Smile
