to wonder if MN can actually agree on there being a person in the public eye who we all admire?

Is there any celebrity well known person that is admired/deemed acceptable by the whole of MN?

I doubt it.

Grin

I'll start by throwing Lauren Laverne and Timmy Mallet into the mix.

Yes to Dolly from me. Especially for her reading scheme Smile

And Richard Attenborough. What a complete Gent. One of the few people I would be awed to meet

SlightlyJaded · 26/03/2011 12:05

Oh. Has Mary Portas been rejected? I think she's great :(

LynetteScavo · 26/03/2011 12:29

Mary Portas made a tit of herself in her last series.

I also say no to Gary Barlow due to his being mates with Dave Cameron.

LynetteScavo · 26/03/2011 12:33

I give you Alex Polizzi, the hotel inspector.

vintageteacups · 26/03/2011 12:39

Richard [yummy] Armitage - obviously ;)

NameChange1234 · 26/03/2011 13:17

Another vote for Dolly.

Needanewname · 26/03/2011 13:54

I'm afraid Dolly's already been veoted!

said · 26/03/2011 17:44

I think only one person has said No to Michael Palin and I bet they just said that to be awkward so I still think he's a contender

NotaMopsa · 26/03/2011 20:38

no he most definitely is not

SlightlyJaded · 26/03/2011 20:40

I neither admire, nor fancy Richard Armitage.

FellatioNelson · 27/03/2011 08:47

Me neither. He's alright, but that's as far as I'll go.

itsalarf · 27/03/2011 21:10

Bringing this thread back. No one commented on Dame Judi, or Meryl! Seriously, I love them (especially Meryl). Not too luvvyish, but enough. Nice looking but normal. Talented, with longevity of career. What do you think?

BelligerentGhoul · 27/03/2011 21:26

I said deffo no to Judi D but have no objection to / or indeed opinion of Meryl Streep.

forehead · 27/03/2011 21:39

Deffo Tony Benn. The mam has principles. Love him

FellatioNelson · 27/03/2011 21:43

How is it possible to object to Judi Dench? Or Maggie smith? On what grounds exactly?

bibbitybobbityhat · 27/03/2011 21:47

I too love Tony Benn but I think its pretty bleeding obvious that he is never going to be universally popular.

NameChange1234 · 27/03/2011 21:52

Shirley Williams. Has she already been voted out? She's lovely and clever.

CatIsSleepy · 27/03/2011 22:02

you can't admire people just becaues they're unobjectionable. I am completely indifferent to judi dench tbh

shirley williams, that's a good one Namechange

BelligerentGhoul · 27/03/2011 22:07

Judi Dench - not a terribly good actress imho and appears to be almost the same in everything she does. Her face isn't very expressive and her voice annoys me. Enough?

Merrylegs · 27/03/2011 22:35

No to Meryl Streep. Mama Mia. She is Not Forgiven.

blinder · 27/03/2011 22:36

Nick Clegg.

BWAHhahahhahahaha!

lambbone · 27/03/2011 22:43

Haven't read whole thread - but has anyone suggested Gareth Peirce?

DilysPrice · 27/03/2011 22:49

Ooh, good call, I can't imagine anyone disliking Gareth ( but I'm sure someone does).

said · 27/03/2011 23:53

I'll dislike her because it's obligatory for one lone voice to dislike any reasonable suggestion

I like Shirley Williams and Tony Benn

fastedwina · 27/03/2011 23:57

yes to Tony Ben but Meryl has always left me cold even when she was considered the greatest actress of her time.
