to wonder if MN can actually agree on there being a person in the public eye who we all admire?

Is there any celebrity well known person that is admired/deemed acceptable by the whole of MN?

I doubt it.

Grin

I'll start by throwing Lauren Laverne and Timmy Mallet into the mix.

But TB and SW are only any good if you are a socialist, however admirable they may be. Otherwise , if being an intelligent, prinicipled and doggedly determined politician were all we needed we'd have Maggie on the list, and I know that's not going to happen. Wink I still don't think we'll do better than King Rolf and Queen Dolly, all things told.

FellatioNelson · 28/03/2011 10:42

What about Maggie Smith then? Didn't you all watch Downton Abbey? Sheer class she was.

FellatioNelson · 28/03/2011 10:43

Ulrika Jonnson. She's nice.

FellatioNelson · 28/03/2011 10:44

Or Ulrika Jonsson. She's nice too.

AbsDuCroissant · 28/03/2011 10:54

I agree Meryl's OUT.

I used to like her, then she did Mamma Mia. And if that wasn't bad enough, she then did "it's complicated" and I watched it thinking her + a Baldwin brother would be awesome on a flight and it SUCKED. I can't believe I wasted a flight movie choice on that - I could have watched other stuff! She currently seems to be making money by looking menopausal and collapsing into doorways fanning herself. Rubbish

George Clooney, MN's favourite gay actor been rejected yet?

AbsDuCroissant · 28/03/2011 11:05

And, I would just like to clarify - David Walliams is not gay, unless he had a hell of a lot of young, ridiculously good-looking female friends who liked to stay over when he lived next door to my friend.

Spudulika · 28/03/2011 11:13

I love Meera Syal. Fantastic writer and great actress. Very funny too .

Asinine · 28/03/2011 11:13

Camila batman
Mandela
Attenborough
Eddie Mair

Spudulika · 28/03/2011 11:16

Oh and yes to Dolly.

Also a vote for Meryl. V bright and sensible woman.

Has anyone mentioned Sue Perkins?

Spudulika · 28/03/2011 11:17

Camila Batman .

Someone knight that woman Fgs. Bloody wonderful .

FellatioNelson · 28/03/2011 11:18

I LOVED that film Abs. Blush

AbsDuCroissant · 28/03/2011 11:27

Oh Fellatio

No to Nelson Mandela for hosting Super Model and Murderous Dictator dinner parties in the 90s. I mean, come ON did nobody else think "why is nobody asking Mandela questions about Charles Taylor?" when Naomi was being questioned as a witness. Particularly as Charles Taylor went to SA with a whole bunch of diamonds. Came back without diamonds but with a bunch of weapons he used against his own people

FellatioNelson · 28/03/2011 11:31

Ah but to question NM is not The Done Thing. He is beyond reproach doncha know.

cara0705 · 28/03/2011 13:00

holly willoughby she seems so nice.

SlightlyJaded · 28/03/2011 13:42

Morgan Freeman.

You just know he's a lovely person and quietly does tons of really good charity work.

FellatioNelson · 28/03/2011 13:45

Oh God, yes Morgan - how could I forget? Just one of the best actors EVER and you know there is no way he's not going to be a really great person as well don't you?

SlightlyJaded · 28/03/2011 13:46

Yep. And he does lots of Good Work. But doesn't make a bit noise about it.

He absolutely gets my vote

AbsDuCroissant · 28/03/2011 14:23

Paul Newman

He was well hot, he invinted a lovely salad dressing company and was a humanitarian.

FellatioNelson · 28/03/2011 14:24

And he was married to the same person for a thousand years. In Hollywood.

ChaosTrulyReigns · 28/03/2011 14:44

Morgan Freeman seems a contender to me, but am a bit Hmm at the fact he's doing insurance commercials now - I always wonder if that's selling out a bit?

Is Camilla B the lady who sat next to Nick Griffin on that Question Time? If so, my gut feeling is she is admirable, and I probably could do with finding out more about her.

There was another woman on that show that night, but I can't remember her name, I thought she spoke a lot of sense, too.

agree? on here, tis full of be-atches is nt it what a silly idea

SlightlyJaded · 28/03/2011 14:48

Chaos You do know it's not actually Morgan Freeman on those ads right? The voice over is an impressionist and if you listen closely he actually says, "I am More Than Freeman".

So he hasn't sold out :)

Yay. Can he stay in the running?

SlightlyJaded · 28/03/2011 14:49

And yes to Paul Newman as well. Although it's a sad day when you are admiring someone for not divorcing

ChaosTrulyReigns · 28/03/2011 14:53

Oh phew!

But I'm sure I've seen him in it. Confused

We could just gloss over it?

OP posts:
SlightlyJaded · 28/03/2011 19:00

Have googled to double check, and there are lots of forums discussing it (Confused) and no, it is not him.

But glossing is fine too.
