when he says it as 'sefia' ?

Tis making me laugh quite a lot Grin

Oh yes and when did they start teaching children about 'vertices'? I must be really thick but I didn't know what they were until DS1 told me.

NickNacks · 09/03/2011 21:00

My DS2 is still baffled why the 'humbrella' is on the back of his 'U' card Smile

TheArmadillo · 09/03/2011 21:01

YANBU

I love ds's mispronunciations

Digraphs was the one ds came home with that we had no idea about. Didn't entirely trust himn on it till it was on countdown

worraliberty · 09/03/2011 21:05

Well I'd say YANBU if your child is young but as you've forgotten to tell us his age I'm going to assume he's 21 and say YABU unless he's pissed Grin

MrsGuyOfGisbourne · 09/03/2011 21:08

YANBU! Mine are sadly getting (mostly) beyond those now, I loved that famous vampire 'Drackliar' and the day when DS2 yelled excitedly across a crowded street - 'daddy, this shop has got binocliars' Occasionally we get them still (13 & 11) and I can't quite bring myself to correct them...

sharbie · 09/03/2011 21:09

used to love this Smile dd used to add a v after qu so we have sqvirrel and quvavers

sharbie · 09/03/2011 21:10

acc to ds your little finger is a stinger

receiverofopiniongiver · 09/03/2011 21:10

YANBU I couldn't bring myself to correct my son reading yesterday 'sweeties' everytime he got to the word 'sweets'. I may do when he's 22!

HeartSkipsABeat · 09/03/2011 21:10

YANBU at all. DD was a bit slow to get some speech sounds and I'm glad she's caught up but I miss some of the words :(

When DS was born we called him little man (never thought we would but it just stuck) and DD pronounced it wee-wool nam and I still call him that now!

She's still got a few cute ones - did you know that a sea-creature with 8 legs is called an otterpuss :)

deepdarkwood · 09/03/2011 21:10

YANBU. Huge is officially not fuge in our house. ANd spheres are sophia's Grin

Garcia10 · 09/03/2011 21:11

My DD used to say 'beeth' instead of beef. I didn't correct her as it was funny.

YANBU

5inthebed · 09/03/2011 21:11

I love mispronounciations.

DS1 used to say zamzoomers instead of satsumas and mooshooms instead of mushrooms.

HeartSkipsABeat · 09/03/2011 21:12

Actually I did that wrong it's not otterpuss but oppertuss :o

Nagoo · 09/03/2011 21:14

i've only got radigator left, and ds asked me if he was saying the right word :(

sethstarkaddersmackerel · 09/03/2011 21:15

DS1 used to insist a knife as an 'ife'. I miss that one.

DS2 has just moved from 'hake' to 'cake'. I used to enjoy sniggering at the thought that he was demanding a deep-sea relative of the cod.

worraliberty · 09/03/2011 21:15

I love it when they get expressions wrong too Grin

My Husband used the expression "School boy error". Then when was watching football with youngest son, he piped up "Ooh School boy Eric, Dad!" Grin

AfternoonsandCoffeespoons · 09/03/2011 21:21

Ah these are lovely! DS (6) has SN and is non verbal so I sometimes feel a bit sad that we won't get these. Although he did come home from school after his first swimming lesson and signed 'ball'. I assumed he'd been playing football! In fact he had been to the 'swimming ball'! :-D

Moosemummy · 09/03/2011 21:21

Pestradians ...people who walk about
Demisal point...like in money maths
Inga da minit ...in a moment
Jacuzzi...bikini (and vice versa)
Jeece..the plural of juice

Oh there are so many more, but I don't want to bore you Smile

Moodykat · 09/03/2011 21:22

We have earpuss's in our house.

worraliberty · 09/03/2011 21:23

Awww PMSL @ 'swimming ball'...bless him Grin

NarcolepsyQueen · 09/03/2011 21:34

Spoom

I was gutted that I had to tell her it was spoon as it was in her weekyl spell check when she started school. Spoom is much nicer Grin

Hassled · 09/03/2011 21:38

:o at these.

I recently worked out that DS3 thought "jumbled" meant "very big". He's been confusing it with "jumbo" for years and years. A Jumble Sale is a very big sale apparently.

pranma · 09/03/2011 21:47

my ds always said hyptonise

pointythings · 09/03/2011 21:51

Fussels instead of mussels (DD1 at age 3). This has become a permanent part of family vocabulary and she's now 10.

DD2 was definitely a 'Drackliar' merchant when she was little, bless her.

She also used to say 'Garden' instead of 'Pardon' when she'd farted. Oh, those were the days.

vitriola · 09/03/2011 21:55

Ahhhhh. 'Brektuss' instead of breakfast. Sweet.

OliPolly · 09/03/2011 21:56

DD aged 4 says bemember instead of remember and rumbrella instead of umbrella Hmm
