when he says it as 'sefia' ?

Tis making me laugh quite a lot Grin

Oh yes and when did they start teaching children about 'vertices'? I must be really thick but I didn't know what they were until DS1 told me.

I bet you didn't correct him though did you mumbar? :o

Mine used to say Lighting A'Queen which I quite liked but he's stopped recently.

We have bredroom, pretrol and trildren here too :)

laughinglil · 10/03/2011 23:05

my dd (2) says
a wee an a poo ( winnie the pooh)
Cu umer (cucumber)
trampeen (trampoline)
bic kit (biscuit)
glub (glove) my fave

and she calls my ds charlie. His name is nowhere near the name Charlie.. lol ! Thats stuck ! haha!

DontCallMeBaby · 10/03/2011 23:08

Fablious. And ridiclious. All variations thereupon. Love them! I'm not actually sure if DD still says 'phewf' when she's relieved about something, but I certainly do. Blush

Minkeys were my favourite when she was littler. Like Inspector Cluseau.

laughinglil · 10/03/2011 23:08

At christmas Away in a manger was sang as
the little old jesus asleep in the hay ..lol !

CJCregg · 10/03/2011 23:15

Love these. It's so hard to correct them ...

My DCs are both into Harry Potter and were really unhappy when 'Serious Black' died.

MillsAndDoom · 10/03/2011 23:21

Growing out of it now but
lello for yellow;
chi-chi-chihuahua (extra chi-chi) Grin
pushion (cushion)
both of mine struggle with the sound 'hue' so thuman; thuge comes out instead.

Joolyjoolyjoo · 10/03/2011 23:25

ds is 3, and has been obsessed with diceynors (dinosaurs) for ages. Only now he says dinosaurs, and pulls up the rest of us for continuing to say diceynors Sad Even the dds (7 and 5) were sad when he started to say it properly

I loved the way dd2 (5) sayes "nused" as in "Mum, remember when we nused to go to nursery?" I'm letting that stay as long as possible

ChippyMinton · 10/03/2011 23:28

how do you all prounce sphere then? i thought sefia was pretty spot on?

Valpollicella · 10/03/2011 23:44

Sfia Chippy Grin

DS says elestricity, amamals and OK is 'okayp'. Not sure where the rogue p has come from!

Kandinsky · 10/03/2011 23:55

Hittopotamus.

andenuvathing · 10/03/2011 23:57

YANBU

Proooter = computer
loop hole= Loo roll
Doo up = ketchup

and very many more...........

Oldest DC is 18, youngest 9 months.

No hope here then.

manchestermummy · 11/03/2011 04:22

We had "ventapillar" for temperature. DD1 can say it now but it will always be ventapillar in our house. Ditto breakbits (breakfast) and olibes (olives)

lazylula · 11/03/2011 10:09

Ds2 is 2.8 years. At the moment we have:

Bisbit- biscuit
at-choo- Thank you
Words starting with a 'c' start with a 't' sound instead.
Ds1 is 5 and struggled with his speech to begin with, bread for some unknown reason was 'wower'.

He still say 'radia-waiter' for radiator and there are a few others that he says but can't think of them right now.

Ormirian · 11/03/2011 10:27

Well I pronounce sphere as 'sfear' one syllable. DS pronounces it as two syllables almost sounding like he's saying a girl's name. I guess he had trouble saying it and the teacher emphasised the pronunciation for him and that has stuck Grin

OP posts:
ThreeBubbasAndManyBumps · 11/03/2011 10:32

DD2 is 2y4m and has just reverted to sticking Fs at the start of most words, so we have;
fwumpets (crumpets)
fwanny and fwumpa
fwanbeddy juice (cranberry)

Yes you are quite right - I mean they pronounce the first syllable as 2 syllable Grin

Now he can cope with 'trianular prism' absolutely fine. In fact he was giving me quite a lecture about the properties of 3-dimensional shapes! The first bit of maths hw that he was enthusiastic about.

hairylights · 11/03/2011 10:57

My lovely dsd

"papent" walKway at side of road
"widdy" film
"tangawees" small orange fruits

and she is now 18 and still says "nemember" !! Grin

hairylights · 11/03/2011 11:00

Oh and carefee for careful, hopefee for hopeful etc (not now but as a wee one Grin)

moonstonezoe · 11/03/2011 11:01

My colleague says redeemial instead of remedial and simular instead of similar. I dont correct him because I find it cute. Perhaps his mother did too and thats why he is still making the error at age 53!

WishIWasRimaHorton · 11/03/2011 11:20

we now have 'booboos' for blueberries. DS started it, and DD now calls them that, so we all do.

beddus is breakfast to everyone in our house.

and hippos are hippomopotamouses

giraffes were 'necks' for a long time. but not any more Sad

Cazza72 · 11/03/2011 11:24

we also have huge as fuge
and my DD has a fordhead .. i say it myself now. I hope she says it forever! Must start writing these things down!

mamasmissionimpossible · 11/03/2011 11:29

My ds calls the sitting room 'city room' it sounds a bit like a posh hotel room, so I haven't corrected him. :o

Ormirian · 11/03/2011 11:30

Ooh about forehead! DD used to call it a two-head. Don't quite know why - maybe because hers was smaller than ours Confused

OP posts:
Ormirian · 11/03/2011 11:32

We used to live in a terraced house where the sitting room was definitely also the 'front' room. My parents house was detached in a big garden so the DC never really knew which way was the front and they called it the sitting room - confused the DC so they often ended up calling it the fronting room!
