when he says it as 'sefia' ?

Tis making me laugh quite a lot Grin

Oh yes and when did they start teaching children about 'vertices'? I must be really thick but I didn't know what they were until DS1 told me.

Ds (15 months) says "bunk" with monkey actions for a monkey. If I say (as I often do): "Ds, you're a monkey!", he furrows his brow and makes monkey arms and says: "bunk? bunk a bunk?"

He also says (with increasingly desperate intonation) numinuminuminuminum if he's hungry and food isn't instantly forthcoming.

LadyBiscuit · 09/03/2011 22:29

kingbeat - my niece (21) still calls my dad Bompa because she couldn't say Grandpa :)

My DS says tenograph pole, scaffoldering, peetabix, flat bowl (plate), Pitolkino (Pinocchio) who wears a blue hat with a heather in it apparently :o

colditz · 09/03/2011 22:30

Nomuter - computer
toofbush - tooth brush
Alligator - escalator
Belightful - Delightful (As in screamed across a shop floor "I am NOT BELIGHTFUL!!!"

chickbean · 09/03/2011 22:30

DS2 calls himself "Death" instead of "Seth" - so we think he may end up in a heavy metal band.

He calls "Topsy and Tim" "Toppy Tim" - his favourite books is "Toppy Tim Butball Match".

For some reason, Cinquecento cars are known as "Tatoheads."

Crystyclear · 09/03/2011 22:30

LO is too little, but mine were...

nabanas for bananas

inexplicably though, an elephant was a lumby lump.

chickbean · 09/03/2011 22:31

Oh, and Ds1 used to call scaffolding "appleding"

colditz · 09/03/2011 22:31

And one I heard from my friend's child this morning "Chocolate Jam!" - blackcurrent jam.

MmeLindt · 09/03/2011 22:31

Oh, I love these.

DS still 'members stuff.

DD used to get confused between tortoise and turtle so made it turtletoise.

HumphreyCobbler · 09/03/2011 22:32

My son had very eccentric pronuciation. Once in a quiet cafe at the age of two he started shouting "CUNT. CUNT. CUNT.."

After much frantic shushing and desperate attempts to shut him up we realised he wanted his coat.

beachyhead · 09/03/2011 22:36

walloping boots here for wellies.

Love the idea of walloping them around Smile

MiceElfAgin · 09/03/2011 22:38

my favourite after taking my eldest out of the bath when he was about 3 was " i like being newkid". He is now 6ft plus and 18. He always asked "where are we going?" when i got him dressed!www.mumsnet.com/te/8.gif

LadyBiscuit · 09/03/2011 22:40

I am waiting for the day when my DS turns round crossly because I've never bothered correcting him.

We were round at a friend's earlier though who agreed with him very seriously that there was indeed scaffoldering on the house next door so it's not just me!

NormanTheForeman · 09/03/2011 22:40

Lol, we used to have boonalloons instead of balloons!

pgpg · 09/03/2011 22:42

My son had "peter rabbit raindrops" rather than "pitter patter raindrops" in his song and when Thunderbird One took off it was "Five, Four, Three, Two, One, PLASTER!!!".

A friend who had been looking after my daughter asked me accusingly whether I had been letting her watch the Sound of Music. I confessed that I had, and couldn't think what could have been so terrible, unless she'd been sympathising with the Nazis at the age of four. No, apparently she had been skipping down the road singing loudly: "I have continence incontinence alone..." :)

feekychucker · 09/03/2011 22:43

Ds1 always looked forward to Farmer Chippers coming down the chimney at Christmas :) very sad that he grew out of that one

dementedma · 09/03/2011 22:46

DD2 also used to call grapes "weetacocs" - don't ask me how that works out!
We have also had cumcubers for cucumbers, and "manus" which was eggs and ham [confused)
To this day my 20 year old is still referred to as "Dodies" as she couldn't pronounce her name (Rosie) when she was little.
like wise DS is known as "fofers" or "fofi" from when he couldn't pronounce his name (Joseph) and called himself "fofuf"
I get funny looks when we are out and I call them Dodies and Fofuf - people must think I've chosen pretty weird names for my kids.

Camerondiazepam · 09/03/2011 22:46

My DD2 is 21m, and she can't say croc or clock, but likes to shout COCK in a very loud voice when she sees either. She also likes a "bitshit" at snack time when all her chums are tucking into a biscuit.
DD1 is nearly 5 and she still says cupumber, chimbley and ambliance, I have tried correcting her on chimbley (she's not Dick van Dyke in flaming Mary Poppins) but I want to hang onto cupumber for as long as possible Grin

edam · 09/03/2011 22:47

aw these are all so cute. Love afternoon's ds's swimming 'ball'.

ds used to say 'lellow' for yellow and 'duddles' for cuddles. Even now he's 7 he still gets some words a bit mixed up and I don't have the heart to correct him. Going somewhere 'fastly' instead of 'quickly'.

Mssoul · 09/03/2011 22:57

DD2 (age 2) calls a blanket a 'wanket'. It is very funny GrinGrin

DD1 (now 13) used to call cygnets 'snigenets'.

I wish they didn't grow out of it - so cute.

moomin156 · 09/03/2011 23:01

our family has

Dawdoys - strawberrys
Floths - combination of fly/moths

Dont think they will ever change :)

MrsFlyingKebab · 09/03/2011 23:01

These are great!
My favourite DD1s contributions are:
pimbumber = cucumber
cackoffwee = crocodile
garleegarleegar (pop) = give me that fizzy drink now please (pop = clicking her tongue)

DD2 is just beginning to talk (17months) and I'm looking forward to he new words :)

kingbeat23 · 09/03/2011 23:06

I had a conversation with my mum about a film I had watched that had a micro orgasm fitted. I wondered why her and my aunt sniggered and asked where they could get one - I was 13! Blush

Sleepingonthebus · 09/03/2011 23:25

I can't get mine (7 & 5) to say pavement instead of 'padement'. We also have the 'sphere' problem.

HansieMom · 09/03/2011 23:51

My son said "remembery" instead of memory. I think it a very descriptive term!

My grandson calls my navigator "alligator". I like that too!

YourCallIsImportant · 09/03/2011 23:53

DD used to say Ladypop instead of Lollipop Lady. I've never corrected her and she's nearly 8.
