Why can't people just post on the original thread? Why AIBU?

AgentZigzag · 04/03/2011 13:37

I never look on site stuff pip.

I'm not bothered about who advertises, within reason.

What do you think glasnost?

worraliberty · 04/03/2011 13:39

I don't see what's wrong with it? What's all the fuss about?

Lots of families love Maccy Dees...it's not like it's Nestle or anything is it Hmm

aPixieMomma · 04/03/2011 13:51

I don't think they should advertise because every time I saw it I would want a Big Tasty. Like now!

Should I get the kids sorted and go get one? Mmmm

BitOfFun · 04/03/2011 13:54

If people want to make their feeling known, Justine has requested that you post here before MNHQ decide whether to allow them to advertise.

LaWeasel · 04/03/2011 13:54

Erm, who cares?

JaxTellersOldLady · 04/03/2011 13:57

so? there is already a thread that people can voice opinions on. why another?

TheSleepFairy · 04/03/2011 13:58

WhensBedtime · 04/03/2011 14:55

why don't you want them to advertise?

southeastastra · 04/03/2011 14:56

bet all you who don't care are fat cows Wink

BuzzLiteBeer · 04/03/2011 14:58

I know I am sea. I'm hoping for discount vouchers is all!

glasnost · 04/03/2011 15:07

I put this on here as everyone seems to look at it whereas site stuff hardly any bugger bothers with.

Personally I'm gonna walk (or just username change!) if they start advertising McD's but I'm an oldfashioned lefty who can remember the Mclibel days and has read "Fast Food Nation"...that's some scary reading. I also know a bit about the pressures exerted by companies in the media where they advertise. I'm not saying MN would become a McD's criticism free place but.

One word - Adblocker!

glasnost · 04/03/2011 16:48

Four words - not getting the point!

worraliberty · 04/03/2011 16:51

Am I the only person who never even looks at the ads? I just read the threads, don't even notice the adverts at all.

GypsyMoth · 04/03/2011 16:52

what IS the point glasnost????

Hulababy · 04/03/2011 16:53

It doesn't bother me in the slightest.

McDonalds is a fast food chain. It serves fast food meals. It does not serve illegal substances. It does not force you to go inside and eat its food. It serves burger and chips. It apparently caters well for allergies and I know for definite they are very acomdating to people on restricted diets - friend's DS has a cheese sandwich in his happy meal for example. It may not be the healthiest stuff in the world but the odd meal there won't kill you.

I really don't get it.

MN is a business, and is here to make money. MDs will probably provide a decent amount of advertising revenue. Of course they should consider it seriously.

upahill · 04/03/2011 17:01

I have no problem with McD's at all.
Kids go in occasionly but they tend to go to subway or Costa more.

Rycie · 04/03/2011 17:01

The issue with McDonalds is not about the food, it's about corporate practice. They make nestle look ethical, and bp as those it's environmentally friendly. If you don't have a problem, its only because you don't have enough background. They are one of the worst corporates on the globe.

glasnost · 04/03/2011 17:02

.........................................sheeeeesh!

I give up. I sure don't envy the younger 'uns of today whose critical faculty seems to be limited to which Xfactor contestant to vote for.

McD's and their ilk are slowly killing your very soul Tiff.

OP posts:
LaWeasel · 04/03/2011 17:03

Can I have examples about what they do CURRENTLY which is unethical please?

glasnost · 04/03/2011 17:04

No I mean they've already killed it. Yay at Rycie. Finally a bit of perspective.
