hey that's an idea - just advertise mcd on aibu - sorted Grin

Rycie · 04/03/2011 17:27

Once again, the issue with McD is not about the food. Please check out mcspotlight.org, or google the McLibel trial. Or fast food nation. Seriously.

thomasbodley · 04/03/2011 17:27

Glasnost, did you really "crack cocaine is less dangerous" than McDonald's above?

You need to steer clear of the crystal meth mate, hyperbole is rarely your friend when trying to persuade people to your point of view.

I love an apple pie, me.

Tizwoz · 04/03/2011 17:28

I still fail to see the issue here.

Yes, yes, fine, McDonalds are "ebul" and want to take over the world with their high-sugar and salt foods, but until the day where as a human I can still exercise the freedom to go to Nandos instead and so, presumably, can everyone else, if they want to throw their money at MN, I don't see what they shouldn't.

glasnost · 04/03/2011 17:29

Old style lefty? I said I was an old fashioned lefty which was a stab at irony on such an unpoliticised website as this. Noone waves placards anymore. There're more sophisticated ways of protesting.

I object to them principally for their nefarious employment practices and their exploitation of immigrant labour in their abbatoirs on the American/Mexican border.

Doesn't matter how many fairtrade coffeee beans they sell.

Well I'm glad the OP posted the thread here because I never think to look at site talk. I've registered my opinion as it's fine with me Smile

JoBettany · 04/03/2011 17:29

I posted on the thread in Site Stuff. I would have a major problem with this.

(old style 'leftie' here) Grin

glasnost · 04/03/2011 17:30

doubting thomasbodley crackcocaine has probably caused fewer victims than ronald's lucsious fare.

Rycie · 04/03/2011 17:32

Tiffany, actually you'd be horrified at just how much of the rainforest destruction they are responsible for.

BoysAreLikeDogs · 04/03/2011 17:33

evidence please

BoysAreLikeDogs · 04/03/2011 17:34

my q for glasnost

Tizwoz · 04/03/2011 17:34

glasnost, it's fine that you object to them. I do to. I object every time I do to KFC for a chicken twista meal, but I don't see why them sponsoring MN is tantemount to handing them the butcher's knife.

It's not like MN is a diabetic's forum, or a Union message board.

jaggythistle · 04/03/2011 17:34

There were actually quite a few snobs people on the original thread objecting on the grounds that McD's food was shit and they wouldn't feed it to their little darlings. (like the plebs would).

BuzzLiteBeer · 04/03/2011 17:36

well take your insulting hyperbole and go and do something, since we are all so dim and unpoliticised for you.

Hmm
GypsyMoth · 04/03/2011 17:38

Rycie.....yes,i probably would! and i do care about all this stuff you're all pointing out.

Panzee · 04/03/2011 17:40

I could really fancy a quarterpounder now. Who wants chocolate milkshake?

glasnost · 04/03/2011 17:41

Not hyperbole and only insulting to McD's Buzz. Why you so defensive anyway? MN will go ahead and take the Mcdollar as everyone else does. They weren't really interested in our opinions as they've already decided to run with the ad's.

McD's has won as is one of the most successful corporations in the world and doesn't need your diatribes to win it more fans.

And evidence is all around you boys. Open your eyes. Failing that: google.

OP posts:
Tizwoz · 04/03/2011 17:42

Oh gawd, Panzee, I would donate a kidney now for a chocolate milkshake. I haven't had one for about 5 years (as a student - ah, simpler times). Still have the odd burger though, usually as munchies food after a night out.

bigbeagleeyes · 04/03/2011 17:45

Sorry Glasnost, I hear what you're saying but you're being unrealistic.
The whole world is run my mass corporate companies, they have more power than any goverment.
A piddling little advert in mumsnet is'nt going to make the slightest bit of difference.
And I think their chips are far superior to KFC.

BuzzLiteBeer · 04/03/2011 17:46

No, you've been quite insulting to everyone on this thread too.

Do you actually do anything about your opinions here?

glasnost · 04/03/2011 17:49

Oh yes buzz I fight "the man" every day!

For the less politicised and radical of you that means MAMMON.

Mums like you make me despair! What a piss poor example you set your kiddies with your apathy.

So there! I'm off now to politicise more of the masses.

OP posts:
BuzzLiteBeer · 04/03/2011 17:53

Yeah good luck with that. People don't generally respond to a know-it-all patronising attitude such as yours.
