I must be missing something.

But why is Kurt Cobain such an 'icon'? Why do people think Nirvana are brilliant?

To me, it sounds like depressing nonsense, and I cannot understand what anybody gets from it. And it appears that some people worship Kurt Cobain. What is there about him to worship? From what I can tell, he was a bit rubbish!

But maybe i just don't 'get' it. I have however just been spoken to very rudely by my aunty when I said that the best thing to come out of Nirvana was Dave Grohl forming the Foo Fighters.

I don't think you can compare the Smiths and Rihanna really - totally different types of music.

I personally think Rihanna is a good pop star, a la Lady Gaga and Madonna.

Sorry but I have heard Rihanna sing live and she is bloody awful. Katy Perry and Cheryl Cole also awful. They have all been heavily tweaked in the recording studio.

If you want a very talented female pop singer who is a strong role model for girls then you'd do a lot worse than listening to Pink.

I do like Pink.

I would be quite comfortable with maybe Justin timberlake taking his kit off. But he, and the other males, seem to be mostly clothed whilst eyeing naked women with low level disinterest.
The fact that female popstars seem happy to be the 'object' within those scarios is a bit annoying.

But at least we can all agree that Cheryl Cole is just shite.

I quite like JLS, probably because DS1 (4) likes them, and they seem very sweet. Pop music is fine in its place. But it doesn't really compare.

My daughter LOATHES The Smiths (probably having me play it all the time whilst she was small).

She even took against the Mark Ronson version of Stop Me and always skipped that song when we were playing Version in the car.

She likes crap stuff like 30 seconds to Mars, Paramore, Vampire Weekend and assorted shite.
