dd (a young 10 year old) is being asked for hand jobs etc on the bus by boys (12 - 13 year old plus one in her class). I don't think that they are serious but teasing however she is not at all comfortable with it (does not know the facts of life in that kind of detail). Is it reasonable to complain to the school?

Erm, yes! Not on AT ALL.

ChickensHaveNoEyebrows · 15/02/2011 16:37

Oh, and in answer to your title: bugger all.

Katey1010 · 15/02/2011 16:38

COMPLAIN NOW. I don't like to shout but that is incredibly unacceptable.

pjmama · 15/02/2011 16:38

I would ask the school to have a word with the boys parents. I think 10 is a bit young to be expected to have to deal with this kind of teasing, and 12/13 year old boys are old enough to know better.

JamieLeeCurtis · 15/02/2011 16:38

God YES. That's terrible. I would have my sons' gutd for garters if I ever heard of them doing this.

ThatllDoPig · 15/02/2011 16:38

Definately complain. That is so so horrible for her and making me angry that she has to hear that. Go in a make the hugest fuss it is completely wrong that they do that and they need to know it.

JamieLeeCurtis · 15/02/2011 16:38

guts

DirtyMartini · 15/02/2011 16:39

Christ. None. Poor kid.

JamieLeeCurtis · 15/02/2011 16:39

yy BIG Fuss needed

ChaoticAngelofAnarchy · 15/02/2011 16:39

In answer to your question none. Complain to the school, your dd shouldn't be having to put up with this at all.

saffy85 · 15/02/2011 16:39

Complain. No one should have to put up with sexual harrassment least of all a child!

whatkatydidathome · 15/02/2011 16:40

good - have made big fuss but suddenly started to wonder if I was being over the top!

OP posts:
tigana · 15/02/2011 16:41

none. talk to school. Your poor DD. Obnoxious behaviour.
is it a school bus or a public bus that is also on a school route iykwim?

EightiesChick · 15/02/2011 16:41

Er, NONE!
And you are PERFECTLY reasonable in complaining (sorry, am so cross I'm having to go into CAPS!)
I would be very angry with my son if he were that age (or come to think of it, any age) and harassing girls like that. Make a huge fuss.

ChickensHaveNoEyebrows · 15/02/2011 16:42

Nope, a good reason to raise merry hell IMO. The boys are almost certainly thinking that they are being ever so funny/clever, and not really understanding the implications of what they are saying. They need to learn that it is hideous behaviour, and it needs stamping on with big giant boots.

MrsDmitriTippensKrushnic · 15/02/2011 16:42

She shouldn't be getting any at all. If I found out DS1 or DS2 were talking to any girls like that I'd hit the roof. Talk to the school. Maybe advise her to sit near the bus driver for a while?

ilythia · 15/02/2011 16:43

None. As everyone says.
Disgusting. Are the boys in a nearby secondary? I assume they are not in the same school because of ages.
In all honesty, I would call the boys school and tell them which bus and how many boys, with a description of the boys if possible. They shoudl know which children go on which bus and they can unleash seven shades of unholy hell on them,, which would be nothing less than they deserve.

coatgate · 15/02/2011 16:44

Aaaaargh. That is awful. My DD (11) started getting the bus to school at the start of this term. I sincerely hope that this sort of thing does not go on on her bus. Please make a fuss.

ComeAlongPond · 15/02/2011 16:44

Nobody of any age should have to put up with that, let alone a child. NOT unreasonable AT ALL - kick up the hugest fuss imaginable and carry on until it stops.

LOTS OF ANGRY CAPITALS on this thread, and rightly so

Sassybeast · 15/02/2011 16:45

OMG - am speechless. your poor little girl. Make merry hell until thse vile kids learn a lesson.

whatkatydidathome · 15/02/2011 16:48

It is a council run school bus - I rang the council who said to ring the school which I have done - I am hoping that they will take it seriously - if not then I will escalate it as far as I need to. We have a middle school system here so they are at her school which takes them from 10 to 14.

It's really good that your DD told you. At least she knows it is wrong and is not too "ashamed" to tell you.
