Just because she has got thunder thighs? Yes, I know I am, but I would love to put a pashmina round her to save her from the deep humiliation she will feel one day when she looks back on those early days.
Plus she almost destroyed a certain song for me.

yabu

I'd happily wear what she wears when I do the school run if I had a figure like that Grin

sobs because i've lost my young, pre children, sexy body that I didn't appreciate when I had it and would so appreciate it now

thegreatpudenda · 11/02/2011 22:17

YABU - she's got a lovely curvy figure. She did ruin Hallelujah though so YANBU on that.

Cheggerspartypopper · 11/02/2011 22:17

I think she looks great. Confident and like she is having the best time of her life.

celebmum · 11/02/2011 22:18

YABU figcake... she might have slightly larger thighs but she still looks better than most!

plus surely a bit of meat on her bones represents a better self image for her fans than skinnie minnies! Grin

carriedababi · 11/02/2011 22:18

shes a bit over confident for her looks!

shes thinks shes alot better than she is!

HecateQueenOfWitches · 11/02/2011 22:19

thunder thighs?

what are you on about?

If she's bigger than a size 10 I'll dance naked round the co-op with a rose up my arse.

TrillianAstra · 11/02/2011 22:20

YABVB

(being very bitchy)

cornsilk · 11/02/2011 22:20

Alexandra Burke has thunder thighs? Really? I think she has an amazing figure.

carriedababi · 11/02/2011 22:22

cornyWink

what about her wigs?

figcake · 11/02/2011 22:22

I have actually seen her in the flesh and believe me, there was a lot of it - I am no stick-insect myself (around a 12 atm) though I would never, ever subject myself to that. She does seem remarkably comfortable and good on her for feeling so confident about her body ; but surely that is all the more reason to wish that she would see the error of her ways.

GColdtimer · 11/02/2011 22:23

Yabvu. And bitchy.

cornsilk · 11/02/2011 22:24

yes the wigs are sinful carrie but I do envy her toned limbs

cornsilk · 11/02/2011 22:25

so she is bigger than a 12? I don't believe it - and if she is so what?

Good god no wonder skinny teens are forever on diets if what is considered to be slim these days means that someone the size of Alexandra Burke is considered chunky. Very sad. And OP - you have issues.

GetOrfMoiLand · 11/02/2011 22:25

I think she looks great

Not overweight at all.

Her skin looks so smooth and toned.

HecateQueenOfWitches · 11/02/2011 22:26

Well, it depends if you think that having thighs that are not just skin over bone is any sort of crime.

Personally I don't think it is.

And furthermore, I think the obsession with celebrities looking like stick insects is responsible for women feeling bad about themselves and for many cases of anorexia.

There is nothing wrong with having actual thighs. or bum. or hips.

It's so sad that women attack one another in this way. What hope do we have to feel good about our bodies if we attack anyone who isn't a stick insect?

carriedababi · 11/02/2011 22:26

don't you think shes over confident though?

yuk she loves herself wayyy too much

figcake · 11/02/2011 22:26

I really don't want to come across as bitchy; I actually quite admire her for carving out a niche off the back of a TV show - but it is extremely cruel to say that she looks fine. She looks hideous, she should not be dressing in a way that would make her the butt of all jokes. Her music is not for me at all, but even if it were, the outfits really detract from it. I wish someone would sit her down and very kindly tell her this

OP posts:
MummieHunnie · 11/02/2011 22:27

When did you see her OP? What was she wearing?

HecateQueenOfWitches · 11/02/2011 22:27

Actually. I apologise for that.

There is nothing wrong with being a naturally very thin woman either. Women come in all shapes and sizes and all are just as much 'real women' and none deserve names like thunder thighs or stick insect.

So I apologise to any very thin women for that.

MummieHunnie · 11/02/2011 22:27

I thought that these singers were dressed by stylists?

snowmama · 11/02/2011 22:29

YABVU and pretty offensive...

The idea that being proud of thighs ( and hips/bums) is something you should look back on in shame is pretty shocking tbh.

HecateQueenOfWitches · 11/02/2011 22:30

Oh my god.

She looks hideous why?

because of her thighs?

I'm sorry, but that really is not on.

A woman does not look hideous when she is a perfectly normal and healthy weight and has perfectly normal thighs.

What is WRONG with our perception of how women should look if we feel things like that?

figcake · 11/02/2011 22:30

I dislike the stick insect look too btw but I would say that most people who are painfully thin are also really conscious about flaunting their body (I certainly was when this applied to me). She needs a Trinny & Susannah - few inches added on to the hemlines just to look nice - no need to lose any weight
