some of the opinions posted are hideously ignorant, largly offensive show the poster to be a cunt.

it has nothing to do with polictical correctness or netmums fluffyness.

it is all to do with the poster being a total and utter wanker

claig You're so right. Spot on - I think I love you.

claig · 07/02/2011 22:10

thank you. It is rare that people agree with me. Smile

marmy55 · 07/02/2011 22:12

agrees with claig too :)

GORGEOUSX · 07/02/2011 22:14

balloonballs Judging by YOUR posts the only criteria on MN for posting is that you have registered..... If MN were to get rid of all silly, ignorant, stupid, argumentative, ridiculously-opinionated posts, I fear none of yours would be left.Smile

carminaburana · 07/02/2011 22:16

Agrees with Claig too - there you go. You've got your hat trick

amarone · 07/02/2011 22:16

The thread was about revealing your hidden prejudices; the things you would not dare to reveal under normal circumstances.

I found it very revealing; it indicated to me what people´s honest opinions are, but would not normally disclose.

What is wrong with that?!

I do not need to engage in debate over every little thing I think people are judging me about.

The ADHD judgements were harsh, but maybe campaigning for better understanding of this condition could change things. It is obviously needed. And maybe, just maybe, said thread could kick-start someone into doing that.

balloonballs · 07/02/2011 22:18

Eh?

GORGEOUSX · 07/02/2011 22:18

And Carmina You do realise what that means don't you? YOU AND I ARE IN AGREEMENT LOL!

Goblinchild · 07/02/2011 22:18

It is also perfectly normal to look at what comes crawling out from under a rock and say 'Yuck'

claig - that would be the BBC article that I emailed them complaining about?

the one that was badly researched and misleading?

The one where a 'head teacher' was using one case of attempted fraud (which was obviously caught and stopped) as evidence that parents push for a diagnosis of ADHD to get DLA? Even though a diagnosis is really hard to get, takes years and is not affected at all by how much a parent wants it and that DLA is not awarded because of a diagnosis of ADHD anyway, nor is it awarded on just the parent's sayso?

The one that ties in really nicely with the timing of the consultation to scrap DLA?

JoBettany · 07/02/2011 22:22

Goblinchild and LeninGrad - I agree with you.

amarone · 07/02/2011 22:22

I give up.

claig · 07/02/2011 22:23

tabulahrasa, well done for challenging it. That is true debate. Maybe you are right, maybe it is political? But I am not sure about that, because the BBC is the vanguard of political correctness.

carminaburana · 07/02/2011 22:24

I told you weeks ago I liked you - and did you read the front page of the Sutton Guardian last week? Loads of people are falling over along Sutton high street due to the poorly designed 'revamp'

You were right - I was wrong ....

penelopestitsdropped · 07/02/2011 22:25

"oh i p[osted on it. something similar to what i have posted here.

i was linked to a clip of vic reeves doing the "ooooh" holding a handbag."

That was me.

I posted it in a jokey response to your post that said something about MN not being what it was. I didn't know you were saying it about the ADHD thing in particular (which I did point out as an inflammatory post)

So sorry, I didn't mean to belittle you in any way. I wouldn't have made a joke of your post if I'd known what you were referring to Blush Blush Blush

GORGEOUSX · 07/02/2011 22:26

It's yours Penelopetits Here have Wine

GORGEOUSX · 07/02/2011 22:28

Carmina You Gorgeous girl you, I thought you were taking the piss! And YES, YES, YES, I saw that and I LOL!

balloonballs · 07/02/2011 22:28

I would imagine that the parents of children with these problems, gay and disabled people get a bit weary of suggestions for further education.

I would imagine that they must think that just acceptance is at this point well overdue.

That said I do agree with the general ethos of your post amarone and frequently have argued for posters to have the right to post their offensive opinions lest we forget these bigots still exist.

penelopestitsdropped · 07/02/2011 22:29

It was about the thread in general Bupcakes.

though obviously the ADHD ones stung more than most.

it was just a stream of low level prejudice and spite.

the thread asked for upopular opinions and yes, that was my unpopular opinion.

OP posts:
mumbar · 07/02/2011 22:30

Penelope I do not know which thread you are referring too. But I get what you are saying here. Its hard because people argue its the internet and not RL but the people here are real and have real feelings - and people need to consider this.

tabulahrasa · 07/02/2011 22:31

Claig - very few people know how DLA works without experience of it and if they're told that people get DLA for ADHD they seem to mistakenly believe that it is the diagnosis of it that qualifies somebody - it isn't

There also seems to be a misconception of how it is diagnosed.

I'd have expected better research from the BBC tbh
