What's on top of your fridge?

What colour is your hall painted? Or is it papered?

What about your DC rooms? How old are your DC and what style is their room?

How about YOUR bedroom? Your sitting room?

Me.

On top of my fridge is a collection of random crap including 2 "grow your own crystal" sets an od biscuit tin and a milk jug full of pennies...plus various detrius.

Hall walls are filthy a sort of cream colour.

Kids bedrooms stomach churning pink...one with hearts everywhere and the other slightly less offensive flowers.

Our bedroom is white and blue...boring.

Sitting room is kind of "Ikea meets Bernard Manning"....pared down and yet deeply ugly in all ways.

My microwave and some saucepan lids.

paper, white with lines on it.

My Dcs are 3.9 and 12 weeks, their rooms are like grown ups neutral rooms because I want to move soonish.

My bedroom is grey and silver but looks unfinished because i can't afford any pictures and the generic ones I see are all hideous.

Sitting room is beautiful, purple and light brown, lovely flowery paper, I'm very proud. Also have cupboards so all the star wars toys that are on the floor will hide in them later.

OTheHugeManatee · 05/02/2011 18:05

On top of my fridge are two 1950s jugs with cooking utensils in.

My hallway is painted pale sage green.

My sitting room is smoky blue with a wool rug in the same colour and dark wood furniture.

Bedroom is the colour of double cream, with a pink print covered blanket box and white furniture and blue curtains. (very girly)

borderslass · 05/02/2011 18:06

ModreB · 05/02/2011 18:06

Bag of cat food and dust on the fridge.

Beige patterned paper in the hall (In my defence it was there when we moved in and haven't got round to decorating it yet)

1 room blue, white and green.

1 room blue and white.

Our room sort of cream and red.

Living room browns, creams and a bright blue wall. And I also don't do minimalist. Grin

MoonGirl1981 · 05/02/2011 18:07

Top of fridge is wicker baskets containing cereal bars and crisps.

Hallway - purple
Son's bedroom - blue
My bedroom - yellow
Bathroom - turquoise
Study - creamy/coffee colour
Kitchen - lime green
Dining room - orange
Lounge - bright red

Don't really like wallpaper.

Have birch coloured IKEA furnature in every room. Lots of pictures/photos, ethnicy stuff, purring cats and big plants!

Newgolddream · 05/02/2011 18:09

Allsorts of crap is on top of my fridge freezer which I cant reach as Im only 5 foot So I would imagine not nice things lol.

My hall is papered a lovely purple and silver patterned wallpaper .....just a shame where all the pen marks and tatty bits that DS3 has attempted to pull off kind of show it up a bit!

DS1 is 17 and is OCD. His room is painted blue and white. As for DS 2 and 3 who are 8 and 3 respectively and share - god knows, I try to go in there as little as possible. It used to be red, white, and blue (it was DS1 room origianlly and he is a big Glasgow Rangers fan Grin) But DS1 had lots of little pics of football stars and stickers on the wall - DS2 pulled them off so theres lots of lovely little white marks where all the paint has been pulled off. And DS 2 got hold of a scooby doo border once and decided to put it up himself a few years ago - lets just say the hapzard sticking pattern and the ripping off bits is highly unusual.

My bedroom on the other hand is lilac and lovely.

DivineInspiration · 05/02/2011 18:10

On my fridge - A pair of candles in the shapes of Lenin and Stalin; an antique teapot I inherited from my grandparents; and a Lindt chocolate reindeer (which may not be there much longer.)

My hallway is white, with a big red London sky-line stencil running along it.

My living room is white with a deep red feature wall, mostly obscured by bookcases and shelves of books.

My bedroom is also white, and again the walls are mostly covered with bookshelves.

I don't have any DC yet. But I can confidently guess their rooms would be white, too, until they were old enough to have any say in the matter.

Greenkit · 05/02/2011 18:11
Smile

What's on top of your fridge? nothing built in

What colour is your hall painted? Or is it papered? It is currently plaster, but will be ivory

What about your DC rooms? How old are your DC and what style is their room? My lad (12) is black and white, with a rock theme, my daughter (14) is lilac (Was that colour when we moved in 6 months ago*

Your sitting room? Just finished decorating, its chocolate curtains and sofa, with a light coffee walls and pale chocolate carpet

bubblewrapped · 05/02/2011 18:12

Moongirl. that sounds more like a kids tv show set! Grin

You dont have big plastic animals all over the place too do you?

NacMacFeegle · 05/02/2011 18:13

What's on top of your fridge? A christmas pudding, two bottles of cordial and a packet of crisps.

What colour is your hall painted? Magnolia. Finished in exciting swirls in wax crayon at 2 yr old height. Painting it white ASAP.

What about your DC rooms? How old are your DC and what style is their room? DS1's room, also magnolia, mid height cabin bed and No Toys, 432904893024 doctor Who posters and a Where's Wally poster. DD has same bed, magnolia walls and various stickers/ posters etc. DS2 shares with me, he's 2.

How about YOUR bedroom? My bedroom looks like a students. Many books, piles of clothes, no air of boudoir-ness at all.

Your sitting room? Magnolia again, but I love it - Starwars vintage wallpaper in a frame, lots of Special Books, a Gollum statue and some art from various friends. Oh, and a side table that used to be a sewing machine base.

MoonGirl1981 · 05/02/2011 18:14

bubblewrapped, yes, it does!

And wouldn't have it any other way.

Trust me though, it looks good!

I has 'style!!

:)

Alouiseg · 05/02/2011 18:14

Nothing on my fridge.

Everywhere is Almond White paint.

God I'm dull!

ILoveMalcolmTucker · 05/02/2011 18:18

Style Moongirl? Sounds to me more like the decor equivalent of ADHD with a bit of drug addled confusion chucked in.

RIZZ0 · 05/02/2011 18:19

What's on top of your fridge?
A three tiered cake stand. A wall clock wrapped in bubble wrap. A shoe box lid containing remnants or my home-made Christmas cards.

What colour is your hall painted? Or is it papered?
White

What about your DC rooms?
White (everywhere is white. House is very minimal and modern)

How old are your DC and what style is their room?
DS (4) White (!) White curtains with red and blue stars, JoJo Maman Bebe digger duvet cover. Used to be quite nautical in there but the Ben 10 and Disney posters are taking over much to my disgust. Some parachuting sheep decals above his bed.

DD (almost 2) Deckchair stripe curtains in white, pink, green and yellow. Small area of wall stickers of elephants and rabbits. Trying to give it a white, pink and green theme.

How about YOUR bedroom?
You guessed it, white walls. Large Ikea Pax wardrobe w/ sliding doors. Mirrored console dressing table. Sliding door to outside.

Your sitting room?
Open plan, white A-frame beams, walnut floor, open fire, sliding doors to garden.

I try to keep up with the minimalism but am a clutter hoarder by nature and hate cleaning.

Off to read everyone elses!

WimpleOfTheBallet · 05/02/2011 18:20

Where DOES one put things like decanters which are ugly but which DH won't allow me to chuck away? Also tins full of crap important stuff of DD 2s...such as 14 plastic rings...sticky lipglosses...badges...broohes...dolls with no arm but which she "loves so much"?

Do I bin it all and then have a nice clear fridge top?

OP posts:
alexandra65 · 05/02/2011 18:20

Alouise, Im nearly as dull.

Nothing on my fridhe and all rooms mentioned are painted white .... and need repainting

Runoutofideas · 05/02/2011 18:23

On top of fridge - Oh God I just looked....box of cereals, empty tins, various confiscated toys long forgotten, an inch of dust.
Hall - Cream walls, dark oak wooden floor, stripy stair carpet.
dd1 (5) Pink explosion but with nice new cream carpet which still smells new. Painted built in wardrobes - selection of pastel colours.
dd2 (3) Muted pink and beige stripy wallpaper with very non matching blue flowery duvet set which she chose for herself.
Our bedroom - cream and eau de nil with hideous beech wardrobes which I'd like to get rid of but ccan't justify replacing!
Living room - coffee and cream colours with dark wood furniture.Too many toys which have migrated from the playroom and never made it home....

BarbieLovesKen · 05/02/2011 18:29

What's on top of your fridge? - the kitchen is built around it so theres a built in wine rack type thing.

What colour is your hall painted? Or is it papered? No, its painted, one wall is a off white (decorated with a million framed family pics and an oversized mirror and dresser with collection of grandmothers old hardback books), other wall (the wall that goes up the stairs with you is a very deep red.

What about your DC rooms? Have to admit, I love our dc's bedrooms - very, I dunno "old american"/ pottery barnish I suppose. DD is 5. Baby pink on 3 walls, dark pink on chimney breast. I painted loads of green leaves over her bed (looks like they are blowing in the wind) Huge white double sleigh bed - covered in huge patchwork quilt/ blanket, various cushions and 2 special ragdolls. Matching wardrobe and dresser. Old poem I wrote her embroidered on a hanky and framed in an old frame on a wall. Not much toys (all in toy room) just wooden dolls house.

DS's is one. 3 baby blue walls and one dark blue. 3 large home made shelves on "main" wall that we painted white. On these are several ornamental type toys - carousels, old jack in the box etc..., light fitting is painted coloured aeroplanes dangling from it. Both bedrooms have very dark mahogony wooden floors - ds's cot is same colour. He has light and dark blue wooden dresser. On it is an old, old, paddington bear etc...

How about YOUR bedroom? Our room is too big (would have been much better if ours was smaller and dcs were bigger but hey ho), Again, dark mahogney wooden floor, walk in wardrobe (that hasnt been kitted out - using temporary poles in it that I got in argos for a tenner and a wash basket for shoes), small ensuite - non descript - tiled from floor to celing. We have very large, dark wood four poster bed. We have a large couch on each side of the room (dark and light brown) with huge oversized cushions, three windows (one each side of our bed behind us and one beside my dressing table) all have heavy red curtains. Bed also has red satin throw and cushions to match. Have 2 lockers, large dressing table and stool with antique look photo frames on and various knick knacks. Have tall boy for dh's clothes and telly on top Blush

Your sitting room? boring as hell. Too small, double door into it which we dont have a handle on yet or glass in!! creamish walls and slightly lighter cream curtains (which are pinned at the bottom as way to long and I cant take them up and they look ridiculous). An electric fire which is supposed to look like a real one but doesnt and 2 couches - 3 and 2 seater. We have two fabulous paintings though, that a family friend did for us which is the nicest thing about the whole room (and a few nice ornaments/ knick knacks given to us for our wedding), again dark wood floor. Flat screen telly with paw prints over it, two toy boxes stuffed in the corner, toys all over the floor and crumbs (regardless of how much we clean - theres always crumbs in here!!!). Some of the skirting needs to be redone. Actually it really needs an overhaul. Think I might look into papering one wall something dramatic...

BarbieLovesKen · 05/02/2011 18:29

Ooops I wrote way too much Blush

IDontThinkSoDoYOU · 05/02/2011 18:34

What's on top of your fridge?

Craft stuff, and prob a dead mouse...

What colour is your hall painted? Or is it papered?

Painted dire (rea) yellow with hand prints ALL up the stairs

What about your DC rooms? How old are your DC and what style is their room?

DD16, Warm neutral shades of brown and cream
DS12, space theme he is bored of it, would like camouflage
DD10, pink with mermaids

How about YOUR bedroom?
Cream and brown and blue

Your sitting room?
Red and white, lots of books, open fire, large squashy sofas.

WimpleOfTheBallet · 05/02/2011 18:37

BarbielovesKen...I LOVE the way Americans decorate kids rooms...such nice colours.

OP posts:
AnnOnimous · 05/02/2011 18:37

What's on top of your fridge? - er a whole load of shite vital items that can never be binned, plus years worth of stoor.

What colour is your hall painted? Or is it papered? it is painted a kind of duck egg blue, with one tiny wall in teal.

What about your DC rooms? How old are your DC and what style is their room? My 17 year old son has a beige room, decorated with every item of clothing he owns scattered on every surface, have the dinner plates in the house, and nothing, I repeat nothing, in drawers or wardrobes. my 13 year daughter has a mainly bright white room with fuchsia pink accenet items.

How about YOUR bedroom? My room has a cream carpet, stone wall and a feature wall with a large floral patterned paper. Your sitting room? my living room has wooden flooring, neutral walls, and a feature wall, but in neutral colours. All very nice actually, but needing a good clean!

sahara13 · 05/02/2011 18:42
