What's on top of your fridge?

What colour is your hall painted? Or is it papered?

What about your DC rooms? How old are your DC and what style is their room?

How about YOUR bedroom? Your sitting room?

Me.

On top of my fridge is a collection of random crap including 2 "grow your own crystal" sets an od biscuit tin and a milk jug full of pennies...plus various detrius.

Hall walls are filthy a sort of cream colour.

Kids bedrooms stomach churning pink...one with hearts everywhere and the other slightly less offensive flowers.

Our bedroom is white and blue...boring.

Sitting room is kind of "Ikea meets Bernard Manning"....pared down and yet deeply ugly in all ways.

spongebobsquareknickers · 05/02/2011 22:23

What's on top of your fridge?
The deep fat fryer and toaster. The toaster comes down daily, the deep fat fryer not so often, so is dusty!

What colour is your hall painted? Or is it papered?
The truly awe inspiring colour that is MAGNOLIA

What about your DC rooms? How old are your DC and what style is their room?
DS is still wee, so hes still in my room. But his room is done out with jungle animals :)

How about YOUR bedroom?
A mess. My colour scheme is green, but there are clothes everywhere and I rarely make the bed. My room is where I hide everything!!

Your sitting room?
Brown and red. Wood floor that I loved when I got it but it gets so damn dirty I'd now kill for a carpet! brown corner sofa with red cushions, next to my tortoise's tank. Sideboard in middle with snake tank on it! dining table at other end by patio doors. New TV unit still in box in the middle of the floor that me and DH need to put together when hes not in work

feekychucker · 05/02/2011 22:24

Fridge - microwave and cat sat on top of that cos it's furthest away from the dog :)

Hall - deep red with dcs artwork in frames, wooden floor, cream on stairs and landing

Ds1 & 2 (8 & 7) blue walls with one teal wall

My bedroom - mushroom with one deep red wall, huge bed and dd is in with us so cot, baby change etc

Living room- yellow walls, red carpet, brown leather sofas, big fireplace.

Wc - cream with wooden flooring, huge bookcase as only place left for my books :)

Bathroom - White but soon to be aqua

doricpatter · 05/02/2011 22:26

What's on top of your fridge? It's under the counter - so a couple of rogue magnets and a load of crumbs. Above that, a toaster, a kettle, breadmaker, pile of teacloths, stuffed elephant, table mats and a load more crumbs

What colour is your hall painted? Or is it papered? Painted white

What about your DC rooms? How old are your DC and what style is their room? DS is 3 and he has magnolia walls with a zillion posters, jungle animal bedcovers and toys strewn everywhere

How about YOUR bedroom? Cream walls, burgundy carpet and curtains, cream bedlinen with deep red embroidery - when it's tidy it really is a haven

Your sitting room? White walls, used to be cream chenille sofas, greenish carpet, creamy-buff-beige sort of curtains and a corner of doom where I am sitting right now - all of which is very lived-in looking due to dogs and children

WimpleOfTheBallet · 05/02/2011 22:28

QueenofEverything....you've made me want a sequinned thing by my bed...and fairy lights!

What's a housing co-op?

Fridge is top half of fridge-freezer so high - some baking tins and lots of dust on top.
hall is painted green, no wallpaper, laminate floor.
DD1's tiny room just redecorated in pale blue with oatmeal carpet.
DD2 and DS's room is half pink with murals and half dark blue with space them
our room is just awful - leaking roof has led to soggy wall with part of the wallpaper missing, and carpet is about 30 years old and vile. Desperately in need of re-decorating but no money!
Sitting room is beige with laminate floor, red velvet curtains, lots of candles.
Whole flat needs to be overhauled - i hate it the way it is.

bambiandthumper · 05/02/2011 22:37

Top of fridge
Built in, so have a cupboard on top where we keep big wooden bowls for crisps, jugs and trays.

Colour of hall
This, which continues upstairs but we have several bright paintings so warms it up a lot. We have a stoney coloured marble floor, but the rest of the house is oak (apart from the bathrooms)

DCs rooms
DTD's room is this, which surprisingly isn't too much, probably because her room is big with huge windows. A big turquoisey greeney rug, hot pink curtains and inbuilt cupboards and shelves in two alcoves which are white, and this. White floorboards. She currently has a big old wicker picnic basket for a toy box, but I would like to get them all personalised ones.

DTS room is a tad smaller that DTD's but exactly the same in terms of layout. He has twin beds which works out quite well as DTD often likes to slip in there in the night. I don't mind though, as long as its not our bed :o. I can't find his wallpaper but its off white with brightly coloured rockets and stars. Same duvet cover as DTD but the spots are blue. His floorboards are not painted and he has a big red rug and blue curtains.

The nursery where DD2 currently is has Beatrix Potter wallpaper and which will need redoing soon, though it looks fine atm. There are pale pink curtains and a pale beige carpet.

Our room
Off white walls and a kingsize bed with a flat screen above the fire place Blush Blush. We a have a chaise longue covered in a bright, patterned velvet, but otherwise not much else as we both have a dressing room with clothes ect...Probably the only room in the house which is not filled with crap relatively tidy!

Living room
We don't have a 'living room' as such. The drawing room is fairly formal with inherited furniture which we don't use to often. The snug has a big tv and lots of old squishy sofas which is upstairs, which where we generally are in the evenings. The kitchen is open plan with nicer sofas, with a tiny tv, really so I can watch the DC play whilst cooking. Our 'living room' is lovely actually, and looks over the garden, but we don't again I only really go in there for peace and quite if its just DH and I, as its a bit big for just the two of us. It mainly is used when we have people round. Wall paper is this, looks a lot, but really suits the room.

oldraver · 05/02/2011 22:37

Ooh I DS wants a jungle canape/canopy.... for his midnight feasts

itshappenedagain · 05/02/2011 22:40

What's on top of your fridge?

Nothing dust did house the food processor but i broke it a couple of weeks ago and haven't yet replaced it!

What colour is your hall painted? Magnolia ( like the whole most of the house, as its rented, would have painted it but we will be moving ASAP...however thankfully my landlord has children and its in washable paint!

Or is it papered? no

What about your DC rooms?

again magnolia with all pale blue accessories which all co-ordinate including the bedding as i made them all and i change on a weekly basis.

How old are your DC and what style is their room? Ds is 4, very calm light room...as a bedroom should be!

How about YOUR bedroom?
my bedroom is magnolia with a wall of sliding panels, mainly cream with bit of green in, which again i made to hide all the shit Blushcover the hanging rails, green and purple (sounds awful but isn't, lots of mirros very light room huge bay window...but all is ruined by the cot DD is 8 months!

Your sitting room?

magnolia, with loads of patterns with bright colours on neutral coloured backgrounds, big canvases and lots of pictures dotted about. a pale sage green in the dividing wall( through lounge, have matching things with differnt patterns but the same coulrs on the same background...including dining chair seat covers and table linen, sounds very cincy but it isn't as i hate floral!

my house to me always seems messy, but i think you see it more if you live there or your my mother !

What's on top of your fridge?

Vases... I wish I had somewhere else to put them!

What colour is your hall painted? Or is it papered?

My hall is papered in a beige... With pram
And dog scuff marks all along the wall :s

What about your DC rooms? How old are your DC and what style is their room?

My DD is 3 months old and her room is my favourite!! Green and Pink (garden like, with pink flowers) butterflies, one polka dot wall, beautiful White furniture, a series of pegs with pink hearts hanging from them... It probably sounds like a mess but it is stunning (my mum is an interior designer and she surprised me with it!)

How about YOUR bedroom?

My bedroom is chocolate brown and teal... With a pink crib right in the middle of it ruining the theme! A feature wall of textured paper.

Your sitting room?

Chocolate brown, beige and splashes of deep red. Just covered wooden floor with carpet, big mistake with a messy dog and new baby! Should have kept the easy clean...

My dining room is a room I never ever use but I really like it... Everything is different stripes, and lots of different greens and browns and glass.. (again, my mum did it for me!) lol

isitmidnightalready · 05/02/2011 23:01

Wimple - get rid of your daughter's bits n bobs either to her room and she can love them directly, or get rid of them one at a time, until they are all gone. If she has't noticved by week 13 then she won't miss them. I would just pretend they had been shifed and say you will look for them tomorrow ( and we all know that tomorrow never comes.....)

IsThisNameTaken · 05/02/2011 23:05

TheFogsGettingThicker · 05/02/2011 23:16

Fridge built in, so nothing.

Hall is papered in a beige-with-pale-brown-shapes. Apart from the landing where DS was gaily ripping it off today. (Maybe he's trying to tell me something about its naffness.)

Most of house was painted cream when we moved in about 10 years ago, to alleviate immediate pain of the then decor.

So both DD (5) and DS (3) have plain cream walls, except DD's is smothered in Disney princess posters and fairies. Her bedding is pink and flowery with matching curtains and a laminate floor with a rug.

DS has a now manky IKEA rug and a blackout blind. He did get vehicle decals one Christmas but shamefully we still haven't put them up, so his room is very dull, poor chap.

Our bedroom is, ahem, cream walls, laminate floor, gold and cream curtains and bedding.

Living room, wooden floor, Almond White walls, chocolate sofas, birch furniture. Accent colour of crimson here and there. And a Pebbles rug, which I love but as it's wool wasn't the wise choice.

rockinhippy · 05/02/2011 23:20

Fridge top, crocpot, couple of huge stew type pans + stock of various juice cartons

Hall..don't ask, bare plaster - still awaiting rip out + replacement of nasty pink bathroom before decorating

DD 8 - deep pink + silver floral scroll wallpaper, silver flooring, pastel pink walls, deep pink + silver bead trim satin curtains - windows + underbed, pink glitter mesh canopy over it, white + wood furniture, pink glitter shelving

living room - pale 50s green walls, 1 in leopard print, leopard curtains, leopard hide rug, brick + slate fireplace, parquet floor, black leather sofas, teal, cream, charcoal + leopard cushions, wall art etc, rosewood furniture.

our bedroom - black wallpaper with turq, teal, metalic print on 1 wall, rest pearl cream wallpaper in same print, oak + black leather bed etc, ivory satin covers with animal print, turq, black + teal cushions, throw curtains,etc...nasty speckled brown carpet, that will probably be ivory when bathroom work doneConfused
